Ab hits? Should I order it?

Hello, everybody,

I am a new Cathe addict, and so far I have six Cathe DVD's.

Low Max which I love
Muscle Max which humbled me last night.
Imax 2 which a lot of fun but I can't do high impact so often.
Kick Max which some of you say you don't like (I didn't do it yet.)
Imax 3 which I didn't do yet
Rhythmic Step which is a lot of fun

I know that you have to vary your workouts often to continue to get results, and the manage of my gym told me to do abs two days in a row, take a day off, and continue that pattern. I need more ab workouts to vary them. Should I order the Ab Hits DVD? Please answer.

Another question is this one. Can I return the Kick Max DVD, so I can order Kick, Punch and ....?
Thank you.

I love love love the Ab hits dvd! It's a well put together dvd. I would say....to order if if your funds permit.

As far as returning one of the videos. I know you will have to contact customer service to get that one. But, I called once and the lady warned me that they are very strict on returns. If it has already been viewed...chances are you cannot return it. Selling it on Ebay may be an option for you.

Best of luck!

Yes, this would be a good addition to your program, as would Core Max. With these two DVDs, you would have a great many choices of core and ab work to do, with a complete range of exercise types including variations on traditional abs, planks with many variations, some pilates and yoga-inspired core oves, core work with the stability ball and small weight.

Just because others do not like a workout, does not mean that you won't like it. Once you have seen and done KPC, it's hard to not place it in the kickbox workouts hall of fame, but Kick Max still has its uses. Many of us use it in parts, using the cardio drills as an add-on after a less challenging cardio session, to really bump up the heart rate and the calorie burn. Others add the leg work on to the end of their KPC workout, for extra kickbox oriented leg work. There are many ways to us any Cathe DVD thanks to her brilliant premixes and chaptering. So, you don't have to rush to ebay to flog it just yet. See what you think of it first. I doubt SNM will do a swap for you. And if you have broken the seal on the wraping or removed it, forget it!

Ab hits is a wonderful compilation of her ab workouts with some plank work thrown in. It's a great addition to your workouts because you can mix & match from different w/o DVDs. Several of us even asked Cathe to consider producing an Ab Hits 2.

Clare was right on the money about trying out her KM. It is fun, intense and has multiple uses.

I was one who avoided ordering Ab Hits for a long time but then it came in a package of dvd's I ordered to change over my old Cathe vids to dvd. It turns out that I'm using Ab Hits a lot more than I thought I would. It's nice to have a collection of all ab workouts at varying lengths and intensities to choose from. Sometimes I just don't have 20 minutes to spend with a Core Max routine after a 60+ minute workout. I recommend it.

I had ab hits and got rid of it. Since I have all the workouts the segments are from, I didn't think it was necessary (and most segments come from the "abs only" period of Cathe's ab work, with a few planks from the beginning of the "core-focus" period). The mix and match menu is so cluttered and in such small print it's hard to use, IMO.

Not a "must have" in my book. Better would be to use an ab segment from the workouts you have, and maybe pick up Core Max.

Instead of Ab Hits, I suggest getting the CTX series and then you'll get like a two for one. ;) It's a very good series. I didn't like it the first time I did it but it definitely grew on me!! Anyway, there are several ab sections on it and with the DVD you have an all ab section option. If I remember correctly a lot of Ab Hits is from CTX anyway.

I don't have CTX, and I don't play on getting it in the near future. I have the Ab workout from Muscle Max which was the hardest I had ever done, and I also have the one from the Rhythmic Step DVD that also has Cardio and Weights. I do go to my gym about three nights a week or so, and the instructors there give an ab workout after every cardio class.

I tend to do more cardio than anything else because I need to control my weight. I have a huge appetite for junk and fatty foods, and I really need motivation. This forum is helping me with the motivation, and I am so glad I joined. All of you are so helpful and nice.

I will post my picture trail account that only has a few photos, but it will give you an ideo of how overweight I am. I cringed when I saw the photo of me in my workout clothes. I am building up a small PT practice now, and I should know better than to overeat. I am not a good role model for my clients.

Thanks to all.

Thanks for all the responses. What do you think is better, Core Max or Ab hits? I don't want to order them both, and I intend on getting a stability ball soon. I plan on keeping Kick Max and eventually getting another kickboxing workout, as I don't want to do step six days a week. I do about four step workouts a week and two kickboxing. I really need to lose weight, and right now, I am on WW.

I am only 5'2" tall, and my points are only 20 a day which is practically starvation for me. However, so far I have lost five pounds, and I have to go on a business trip on November 3rd. If I eat only 20 points a day and do that much cardio, I lose at least two pounds a week. I really need to lose about 20 pounds, and I am embarrassed at how I look.

I have a very dear boyfriend who is totally supportive of me, and he doesn't even notice my fluctuations in weight. He even helped me buy my last four Cathe DVD's.

I am sorry to be so wordy, but you would flip if you knew how much I weigh for my short height.

Hi Caitlin. I admire you for posting your pics! I'm 5'1" so know how you feel. Looking at your pics we are about the same size and proportion. I'm also trying to lose about 15 lbs. It's tough! Let me know if you're interested in an online workout buddy/motivator!

Dear Stacy,

I would enjoy that much much, and thank you so much for offering. We can write to each other here, or we can give each other our direct e-mail addresses. I want to stay on track with WW, as I do lose weight on it.

Caitlin,

KPC is high on the "fun factor" and also has a terrific ab workout in the end using the stability ball. The DVD comes with Legs and Glutes and is well worth the $45 investment. I never warmed up to Kick Max.

But if you want to confine your DVD spending to the present, and you are convinced that working your abs 2 days out of 3, then Ab Hits might be your next best purchase. Lots of bang for your buck! In my own opinion, you should be able to thoroughly work your abs in 10 minutes or less. Core Max is fun, and has the options of using the stability ball and med ball, but I think the workouts run too long.

I'm a bit confused though, you say your Rhythmic Step has Cardio and Weights on it too? C&W is on the IMAX2 DVD.

By the way, your avatar is beautiful. Focus on being healthy and fit, the 20 pounds will take care of themselves.

Take care and enjoy your fitness journey,

Diane

Dear Diane,

I am the one who is confused, as I am only with Cathe for about a month. You are right; the Imax 2 DVD has Cardio and Weights. I find it takes me a little while to get a Cathe step workout down pat, and I am still learning Rhythmic Step. I am going to return my Imax 3 DVD to collage video, as I can't have too much high impact stuff because of my right knee.

The manager of my gym gave a great kickboxing class tonight, and he inclued a lot of jumping jacks and power squats. I do lopsided jumping jacks and I jump mostly on my left leg.

As soon as I can, I am going to get KPC, and I also want to get the Pyramid upper and lower body workouts. I enjoy the feeling of being able to get a great workout at home, and I don't have to be tied to the schedule of my gym. I need to get more risers for my Club sized step so I can make it into a tall step, and I want to purchase a stability ball, and one more set of dumbbells. I think I also need ankle weights. But once I get all that stuff, I will be set.

I also have Core Max and Ab Hits on my list, and I am losing weight on WW. Thank you for the compliment.

I still cringe when I see the photo of myself in workout wear. I will have dear boyfriend take a photo of me tomorrow night when he comes over.

Take care,
Caitlin

I would order Ab Hits. I have had it since it first came out, and I have not gotten bored with the routines at all. I really enjoy it and use it all the time. I like the fact that you can choose a shorter or longer routine, depending on how much time you have. The times range from 6 - 15.5 minutes. It also has plank work tacked into the end of some of them. Core Max is good, but different as it uses a stability & medicine ball. It is tough. I have been alternating the between the two, since I got Core Max.

Thanks so much, Alicia, and I am going to order it plus a bunch of other equipment. There is so much on my wish list.

Hi Caitlin! IMO Ab Hits or Core Max or great. I have them both. For the past month I been using Core Max on Monday, Wed, and Sat. I can feel my core getting stronger. This week though I am going to start adding Ab Hits just because I am getting bored. I am just going to use both dvd in a week. I think its good to switch around just because your doing the same thing. Like when I did one of the section from Ab hits this morning I thought it was tough compare to Core Max. So what ever you decide will be a great decision:).

Good luck on your weight loss journey. I am on WW again:(. I gain around 10 lbs over the summer so now I have to get back on track. I am a life time member. I am doing the WW online. It really helps.

Thank you, Alicia, and I ordered it today along with PUB and PLB and KPC. I also ordered more risers for my club step to make it into a high step, and exercise ball, and a few more dumbbells. Sometimes, the classes in my gym are not intense enough, so I am so glad that I found Cathe. I am also happy because I lost six pounds. I now have to lose about fourteen more.
