A little bit about ourselves..

Oh, good! Someone else from Wisconsin admits they don't watch the Packers. My husband thinks I'm weird or something and even challenged me to name 2 Packers a few weeks ago. I came up with Brett Favre right away and then couldn't come up with another "current" player. That's the thing - I can come up with names like Sterling Sharpe, Chris Jackie, etc. but no one else currently on the team. I will watch a game if I have nothing else to do but very rarely does that happen.

As for me. . . I lurk more than post because I learn so much here from all the experts and usually don't have time during my lunch hour which is only 30 minutes to make it through the posts AND reply.

I'm 38, married for 10 years to a great husband who understands my Cathe addiction, have 2 kids - Helen age 7 (named after her grandma) and Joe age 5. We live in Waukesha, Wisconsin which is just west of Milwaukee.

I discovered Cathe in the spring of 2000 right after I lost 20 pounds on the Body for Life program. Over the last couple years some weight has crept on so I went back to read the BFL book again last weekend. It's not that I don't know WHAT to do - it's the psychology of setting my mind to DO IT.

I work in Technical Support for the IT department for a manufacturing company.

My real name is Sue.

Mariela...yo tambien soy Puertorriquena, nacida en NJ

Solo queria saludarte y decirte que tambien estuve en el Army. Te esposo va para Korea?! :)

RE: This is a great thread!

Hey, Miz Jilly -

I just got the Beatles Anthology tapes and will be getting the book, so I'll know all kinds of stuff! I learned at lot about them when they first became popular back in the early '60's, but have forgotten a lot of it, I'm sure.

Just Do It! :)

My name is Beth, Meira is my middle name and it is hebrew and means "from light". I live with my boyfriend of 5 years along with our 9 year old labx Princess Leah and her 2 year old sister cat named George. Yes George is female. I have my BA in Photography and just started my own portrait business, but I don't have any clients yet. My full time job is being a bookkeeper for an insurance company. Snore!!! That's why I am trying to get my own business going. My boyfriend and I plan on getting engaged in a few months. It all depends on if he will be keeping his job. His employer has been talking about layoffs. I turned 30 in May and have recovered from the depression of that! It was my goal to learn how to ride a motorcycle before I turned 30. So on the weekends, my boyfriend and I try to get out on our bikes as much as we can. Otherwise, we bought a home 2 years ago and there is always something that needs to be done at the house. Another trip to Home Depot!

Beth

This is too cool! Is there a way to save our "profiles?"

I'm 36 years old, married for five years (second time around), no kids due to divorce and illness. Proud owner of two Shelties, three thoroughbreds and a lazy "barn cat" that spends most of his time on the back patio.

I'm a Web designer/art director. I'm very active at church working as the librarian, singing, and maintaining our church's Web site.

I started working out fairly consistently after college with the original Firm tapes. It didn't seem to make much difference. I could never put on any healthy weight. I was always stressed and my diet was sugar, carbs, and more sugar. About three years ago, I became very ill and got my wake up call. I found Cathe's Pure Strength series and cleaned up my diet. I'm happy to say I'm in better shape now than any time in my life.

Gettin' better with age,

Angela

I am female, just turned 50, have been married since age 18 to the greatest guy, have 2 kids, a boy, 28 (married), and a girl, 27 (single).

I work full-time for a newspaper - fun, but stressful. I love to read (have over 300 books at home I haven't read yet - my husband is deeply disturbed that I keep buying more).

About 5 years ago, I discovered Cathe videos, and lost 95 pounds over a 2-year period. I LOVE Cathe! However, 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The insulin caused me to gain back 20 pounds. Recently, I was diagnosed with a heart problem, which explains my extreme fatigue, and the fact that I couldn't exercise for a long time(and gained back another 30 pounds).

This sorta left me a little depressed for a while, but I am hopeful that I am now on the correct medication, and that it is starting to kick in. I am going to attempt a Cathe video this afternoon for the first time in a long time.

You guys are a wonderful group!

Ok, here's my stuff--I'm 41, a 6 foot Amazon blonde with a passion for all that is fitness, and the wife of an absolutely fantastic guy named Jan (pronounced Yon)--my German import. We are child-free by choice and have two dogs--Sam, a black and white female terrier mix, and Fred, a chocolate male Spaniel. Until early July, we had a third pup--Willie, who was almost 17 when he had a stroke and died. Will had been with me for what would have been 16 years this month. Needless to say, we adore dogs!

Both DH and I are physical therapists, athletic trainers, personal trainers and certified strength and conditioning specialists. My master's degree is in exercise physiology and I'm also certified as a group fitness instructor, but haven't taught on a regular basis for several years. We have a private practice physical therapy clinic specializing in sports and orthopaedic physical therapy, and a health consulting business.

DH and I are martial artists and enjoy outdoor activities. We're looking forward to a vacation next week--we are booked on a Fantasy Fest cruise--we're headed to Key West for a celebration of the event by the same name. Should be a wild time, both the trip and the island.

Also, I know a couple of folks here from other boards--I'm getting to know FitnessRN and Aquajock and I are old pals--we e-mail almost daily and chat via phone regularly. I'm really enjoying my time here. If I owe anyone an e-mail, please forgive my tardiness in replying--I've been lazy lately!

Hello everyone,

Don't post often but enjoy reading everyones posts-I learn a lot from all of you.

I am 37 yrs old soon to be 38 in January. I am 5'0 tall and 109 lbs, blonde hair and blue eyes. I am a stay at home Mom with an 8 yr old step son and 2 year old daughter. I have been married for almost 3 years to my wonderful husband, Allan. My husband is a pilot for American Airlines. We live in Chesterfield, MO (suburb of St. Louis).

I enjoy working out with Cathe and have been doing so for almost 2 years. I also enjoy walking, playing tennis, reading, HOT baths, travelling and spending time with my family. At this time in my life I am enjoying New Age music-it seems kind of soothing and relaxing to me and boy do I need some relaxation time after chasing a toddler around all day!

Hi! I'm 37. Live in Punxsutawney, PA with my fabulous husband of 6 years and my German Shepherd, Mojo. We, too, are childless by choice. Our lifestyle is so active, that if we added a little one, I'd be at home, and he'd probably still be out climbing, biking, running...
We love to go climbing. We spend most of our vacations in the mountains, summiting something huge, beautiful, scary, righteous. It's a cleansing process like no other. We even choose beach vacations where we can go climbing! (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico)
I am a PR/Marketing consultant and work out of my home. I have been "retired" for two years. I helped take care of my sick parents and now that they have both gone to heaven, I'm back in the working world.
I've helped my sister lose 100 pounds by using Cathe videos and making her meals for her. She's also quit smoking.
That's us!
Amy

Hi!
It's great to read about how awesome everyone is.
I am 36 yo, married to the man of my dream for 12 years. We are both physicians, and have a lovely 3.5 year old son who keeps us running and laughing all the time and we all LOVE it! We live in Maryland.
I've been exercising regularly since the age of three, thanks to my wonderful, active parents whom I still can not keep up with!
I love my time with my family. Exercise, scuba diving (around the world), rock climbing and meditation are on top of the list of couple of million activities I love to do!!!!
I am very impressed with all of you.
:)

Fantasy Fest...

Hi Maribeth,
A friend of mine from high school is also going to Fantasy Fest in Key West (flying there, not cruising) and said that she heard that it is quite an experience - the women go topless and have their chests painted!
Hope you have a great trip!
Erica

Hi everyone,

I'm kind of new to the forum although, I have posted a question here or there. My name is Jilliana I'm 25 yrs old living in Atlanta moved here about 2 years ago from Chicago where I was born and raised. I live here with my loving b/f of 3 years and our 1 year old son Jonathan and my two lazy 7 year old cats Tigger & Friskie. I have been working out for years in a constant battle with my weight(all the women on my mom's side are heavy and I'm a fast food junkie)however, I lost my battle once I got pregnant so now I'm slowly fighting to get back to my orginal size. I currently weigh 250lbs (after baby) I'm trying to get back to 200 (I know that's still fairly heavy but I was a much stronger and highly active heavyweight)hopefully, once that goal is accomplished my exercise and diet rountine will be so engrained into my psyche that I will continue on and get myself down to a healthy weight size and break the genetic family curse of heavy women.

I'm currently a SAHM but I do work on the weekends, if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to put a big dent into this baby fat by all means let me know. My e-mall addy is [email protected]. I'm currently doing a rotation of the Firm BSS and Cathe MIS and Honeybunch's Bun & Thigh Rocker exercises to build strength and endurance. I use my treadmill, stationary bike, and stair machine for my cardio.

-Jilliana

Not boring at all. You are happy and healthy. If that was boring, why is everyone in the world striving for those two things!?! Glad to hear your dog and little guy get along!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-16-02 AT 06:42PM (Est)[p]Hi All,

Great post Lori !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :7

Well, my name is Anna, age 30 (31 in December), I am married to a wonderful guy, called Robert, we have 3 children Jessica (age 5), Jack (age 3), and Josephine (age 22 months). I live in the UK, in a small town called Rainworth, near Mansfield, which is near Nottingham in the East Midlands. Actually, I live right by Sherwood Forrest, famous for Robin Hood ! I am though originally from the North East of England.
I am a full time Mum, though a qualified Beauty Therapist, I gained a Higher National Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Salon Management. I hope to eventually go to University to pursue a degree in Archaeology (something I wanted to do after I left school, only my darned eating disorder got in the way :-rollen), and I am learning to drive (finally) at the moment.
I adore working out at home 5-6 days a week (now a new Cathe fan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one and only fitness diva !). I adore aromatherapy, reflexology, beauty products, reading, gardening (love herb gardening), love painting friends nails, doing a weekly pedicure and manicure. I ADORE Stevie Nicks (my idol), Fleetwood Mac, Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black's music from the 60's and 70's, Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, and Big Band Music from the 1940s (in fact I love the 1940s).
I love being a Vegetarian, and I eventuallly want to be a Golden Labrador owner, once my youngest child is a bit older.
And, I want to one day visit the Monterey Peninsular in California.

There we go, thats me in a nutshell !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading !

Anna :)

What a great idea. It has been fun reading all the posts and learning about all of you. It is particularly great for me being a brand new newbie:)

My stats:
*32 Years Old
*Live in Colorado
*Married for 5 years (been together for 8)
*Mother of a 2 1/2 year old, and thinking of another very soon:)
*Mother to 2 step kids, 10 & 12 (All kids are boys!!!)
*Work in high-tech marketing
*Enjoy the outdoors, computers and anything FUN!

I have been working out since I can remember. However, I have always struggled with my weight. Have had a couple minor eating disorders and always think I'm fat even when I am not.

I gained a ton of wt. w/my first and only son. We're planning for a 2nd and I am so afraid of gaining more weight because I haven't even lost all the wt from the first. I have about 20-30 more lbs to go:) I finally got a few personal trainer sessions for free at my club and learned soooo much! I had been working out hard since my son was born but couldn't seem to kick the weight. I learned I wasn't eating enough! Now, it is starting to finally drop off!! Yeah!!!! :)

I also did Body for Life 8 months after birth of my son and lost a ton of wt and gained it all back after I backed off on the diet. Now I just eat a good mix of carbs, protein and fat.

I work out because I love the feeling it gives me! It relieves stress and makes me feel good. It is also the only time I get to myself all day. I love it. Plus it helps me lose wt. too:) I love Cardio the most and could do it for all workouts. I also love lifting wts. but have a hard time not doing cardio every day. I am lacking in muscle tone big time and really need to figure out how to better tone all of my muscles!

My house is filled with barbells, dumbells, steps, videos etc. I recently sold all my old videos on eBay when I purchased my first Cathy videos. AT first my hubby complained of the Cathe video cost but now he just ignores it every time I get a new one. He knows they make me happy! Cathe was the best thing that happened to me! I love it!!! It gives me a club level workout at home!!!!!!!!! I am in good cardiovascular shape and find many of the other off-the-shelf videos way too easy. Cathe has been a lifesaver for me because her and her powerful team can whoop my booty!!!!

Anyway, it has been so fun on this board so far. I have learned so much and now visit it daily even if I don't post. I look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing our love of fitness together!

Your friend,
LuvCardio
(Pammer)
- p.s. I am also thinking of changing my user name to Pammer - it is a little more personal.. what do you think? It is my nick name:)

RE: This is a great thread!

Hey Honeybunch,
You will love the book. I suffer from obsessive/compulsive disorder, which sometimes can be kind of nice. It especially comes in handy for trivia. If I like something, I usually become consumed with it. (I think) I know all of the stupid reasons why people thought Paul was dead. It's kind of fun to have someone to talk to about all this stuff. If you're ever interested... Hope I didn't scare you off!

You could keep your user name and just sign all of your posts 'Pammer' or else just go for it! I like your name LuvCardio, it says a lot about you. But my nickname is my username, so that's a fine way to go too!

I just tried changing it to Pammer and it is already taken. Looks like I'll stick with LuvCardio. You are right... it does explain more about me:)
