2011 NEW YEARS STS CHALLENGERS: WEEK OF 3/13!

Hi all. Still have not worked out. got home late from the city yesterday and fell right to sleep after putting my two wise guys down. today is going to be Cardio Fusion, definitely. Then tomorrow I start Meso three!!!!! So psyched for that.

What's on the agenda for everyone today?

Hi Kristin! Enjoy your work out! I haven't worked out either. I intended to do it first thing this morning but I was sooo sleepy. I decided to run my errands first. Got that out of the way now plus lunch. Still sleepy though. Think I'll tuck myself in for a nappy before my work out. ;)

Disc 11 , cardio ,abs is on tap for today! Well that's the plan anyway!

I'll be back!

Hi Ladies.

Recently finished my work out!

Disc 11, 4DS KB cardio only + 4 mins of planks!

MESO ONE IS DONE! WOOH HOO! :D:D:D

Tomorrow is SUPPOSED to be a rest day. We'll see how THAT pans out!:p

Off to make dinner..new recipe with lots of prep so it may take a while...I'll be back a bit later though!:)

Me too! Finally got in my cardio & stretching. Always seems harder to do in the weekends with Hubby @ home. But it was nice out so, he headed out with the kid to tinker around in the yard leaving me some time to get the house back in order and some time to workout.

Wendy - good luck with the new recipe. Let us know how it turns out. Hubby also decided to grill out (he usually cooks on weekends) giving me some time to prep for and plan my week. So that's what I'll be doing for (what's left of) the rest of the day.

~Kiki

Hi all! quick post for me here as DH and I are getting ready to watch Celebrity Apprentice.

I finally got a workout in, Cardio Fusion and no equip abs from Ab circuits. I felt good breaking a sweat after the last few days.

Wendy- yea on being done with Meso 1! I don't know if I can do the six month rotation, but you are kicking butt with it. 4 DS kickbox cardio only is such a fast, yet awesome cardio workout. I love how it is different from her other KB routines, where you do add-on combos, and so on. did you get that nap in? I am jealous!

Kiki- I never welcomed you to the forum (I have been MIA). Welcome! Nice job on the workout today!

Kristin

Hi everyone!

Looks like we all strayed a bit today. Must be the time change. I made today a rest day because I was running around. DH did go with me to look at treadmills. I've been looking on Craigslist but only seeing very low end ones posted (short decks, small motors), so finally convinced him that we need to get it brand new. Getting him looking is the first step.

Wendy - Thanks for starting the new thread! Yeah, Meso 1 done!

Kiki - For me, making workout time is just as hard on weekends as during the week. If I'm not shuttling kids around, I'm getting chores done or running errands. DH helps alot, but we're just so busy, busy.

Kristin - Cardio fusion is a great workout, too. I'm a week behind you now, so you'll need to let me know how it goes.

Hi to everyone else! Hope you all enjoyed your day.

Good Morning & Happy Monday, Ladies! :p

Well, ofcourse my rest day didn't pan out. My alarm that was set for 5am somehow went off at 4. Instead of OD'ing on coffee I decided to make use of the extra time so I did a work out. It was short and ez though...SJP step only + circuit 4/core of BFBM. Planning to rest tmrw and Thursday now. Wish me luck! ;)

Sherry:: Oh you make me jealous that you were treadmill shopping! I can't wait to have a house that I can fit one in!

Kristin:: Yup, 4DS KB was a fast fave of mine! I figured having never done STS that it was the best time to just jump in with both feet and give the longer rotation a try. I admit I had big doubts about it but I am doing okay! I like it though I do admit that by the final 2 weeks of meso 1 I just wanted it DONE already! LOL I had Cardio Fusion but sold it. Don't do that cardio enough to know the step combos w/o the breakdown so I could never use CF.

Kiki:: New recipe was yummy! I need to do some extra stretching this week. Thought of the extended stretch from STS at the end of my work out this morning but it was too late to fit it in. :(

ETA:: Found great new use for tower during disc 11!!! Lowered the cross bar and used it for tricep dips instead of dragging high step out! I have a small space so do a lot of shuffling of the bigger equipment so it was nice to not have to do that! :)

Good afternoon everyone!! :) Thank you for the welcome last week! I am trying to get me bootay in shape for the Disney RT, so that is the extra push I am feeling to get fit.

Yesterday was Disc 10 + classical stretch. I received a foam roller last week and have been using it on my IT band - OUCH!! I know it is supposed to be an ouch but O U C H!!!!

Today was a Zuzana jump roping circuit. How did I jump rope so effortlessly as a kid??? I'm going to squeeze in some CS and foam rolling later... unless my li'l princess sabotages my plans.

Ok, gotta go finish the school day.

TTFN!!

I did get a workout in today just before lunch (Disc 19), which may not have been such a good idea, because those Double Wave Loads made me HUNGRY! And it just so happened that ALL the food that hubby made last night (when I was much more reasonable w/my portion control) was just sitting there staring at me! So... I'm wondering how many of the 404 cals that workout manager says I burned, actually came right back only moments after that last tricep stretch, lol.

Kristen: thanks for the welcome! And good to see you back on your game, again! Hope today went as planned. ;)

Sherry: Got hubby looking at the treadmills?! That's a great step. Man, it took me FOREVER to convince mine that same thing about my elliptical. I was having the same issues with the cheaper ones just being really low quality. I did not want to be worrying about the darn thing falling apart while I was on it! He finally got me a really nice one last Mother's Day (when I'd officially given up all hope that he was even listening, lol)

Wendy: Way to go picking a workout over coffee! (Idk if I could do it :p )
Don't you love not having to pull out yet another piece of equipment? I just realized this time around that I didn't need an actual chair just because the DVD said I did, lol. I figured out ways around most of the "chair" exercises, and have felt so free not to have to keep pulling it over and putting it back every five minutes! Now I just leave it in the kitchen where it belongs! LOL :D

Autumn: I've been wanting (needing) to get a foam roller, but now you're scaring me, lol. Not to mention the hard time I'm having convincing hubby of its usefulness (esp, based on the prices we've seen. How much was yours?) I'm feeling the RT push for extra motivation too. Look forward to seeing you @ Disney!

Hi Everyone!

Today was Disc 16. I really love this Mesocycle. Tomorrow is MMA Fusion.

FitMommy - I admire you for cooking. I was at a restaurant not to long ago and saw a sign that described me to a T. It said, "The only reason I have a kitchen is because it came with the house." LOL

Autumn & kickster - Congratulations on going to the Disney Road Trip! I wish I could join you.

Have a nice evening!

LaDonna

Hi all!

Finally back in the STS groove. D22 done tonight and muscles are still shaking! Shoulders are feeling like rocks - now if they could get more size! Last set of push-ups did me in, though. Gotta love it!

Wendy - I admire you for working out! I would have gone back to bed to get the extra hour's sleep.

Autumn - Disney RT? Jealous here. Still waiting for Chicago - I live in MI.

Kiki - Don't even want to discuss portion control. Still have a few GS cookies in the house. It's a shame that the Thin Mints come in a one serving size box! LOL!

LaDonna - yes! Meso 2 is so much more fun than Meso 1! Also love that quote. I don't like cooking. Baking, yes, but cooking, not so much.

Kristin - Did you start Meso 3 tonight? How was it?

See you all tomorrow.

Evening all! M3, D25 all done! I am thinking I am going to love Meso 3!! I loved that the rests were longer and I felt like I could lift the heavy weight right up to my failure point, which was rep 8. Perfect all around, and my chest is already feeling sore.

Sherry- I guess I just answered your question, lol.

LaDonna- I loved Meso 2. I thought it rocked. The rest periods were perfect and the weights were challenging.

Kiki- I know wha tyou mean about being hungrier after doing an STS workout. Meso 2 I felt hungry more often, and tired by the end of the cycle.

Autumn- the jump-roping sounds awesome, but I have no coordination with a "real" jump rope. I love doing the jump rope in MMA Boxing, lol.

Wendy- you would definitely have needed to know BM 2 and LIC to get thorugh the first half hour of the workout. It is a good cardio sweat though.

Okay, I am beat!
Night all!
Kristin

Morning Ladies.

I had an awful night. To bed at 9 but then up from 1230 to 330. Fell back to sleep only to be up again at 530. :( My plan is to call out sick from work today. I suffered through work many times over after a sleepless night but I just don't want to do that today so I'm staying home...

I have to drop my son at school in a bit and then I'll come home and catch some zzz's. When I wake up I will work out! Yep, I am nixxing my rest day once again! :p This will be my 6th day of working out though so that's totally normal. I'm not over doing it or anything. I am hoping to get in abs/core, legs and cardio today. Nothin' like takin' it easy during an active recovery week! ;):D

Kristin:: So your first impression of M3 is a good one huh? That's great. I am hoping I like it after all too so that I'm not suffering through it.

Sherry:: She's baaaack! Great job!:D That was exactly the problem y'day, after my alarm woke me up I couldn't fall back to sleep so that's why I got up. I totally intended to sleep in but it just didn't work out that way.

JSM:: Trust me that kitchen sign of yours works for me too! I am no chef and when I cook it's usually the same 5 meals over and over again and nothing fancy or labor intensive. TRUST ME! I am only cooking on weekends now b/c I have been inspired by 2 things...1) a friend of mine who adores cooking and 2) a neat website that has all kinds of yummy healthy recipes on it. Plus I am only doing this on weekends, when I feel like it so there is no pressure. Trying to take on a new recipe during the week is impossible. Just not enough time when I get home after work and I am NOT one for eating after 7pm. I prefer to eat at 6 actually but that's not always realistic. All this being said, if I did not have a family to feed I would happily live on sandwiches, salads, etc. I'd need one pot and one frying pan for ocassional use and that would be it! :p

BBL to report my work out!

Well, the "tentative" plan is to do Disc 20 today, so we'll see how it pans out. The reason it's tentative is because we have quite a few errands to run, work to do, as well as the Sears repair person coming to look at our stove, AND the dishwasher delivery person bringing my new dishwasher (PRAISE THE LORD!!! )
And you know how those things always give you a "time frame" rather than a precise time, and they both gave two different time frames (much to my disapproval :( , my whole reason for wanting them on the same day was to get it over w/all at once.) Oh well, beggars can't be choosers! :p No more dish pan hands for me, ladies!! :D

Wendy: you better be sleeping instead of reading this! :p

Kristen: I really liked Meso 3 last time around, and I'm looking forward to it. It's more of the way that I'd always lifted before (really heavy, w/loooong rest periods, mine may have been too long, lol - but, that's why STS is so good for me to shake things up)

Sherry: ROFL @ the GS cookies! You shoulda seen me trying to explain to Hubby what happened to the box of Tagalongs he ordered w/his Thin Mints. They should've never left that box here w/me while he was @ work (I cannot be held accountable for unexplainable cookie disappearances  )!

ETA: finished my leg workout, & with time to spare before any appliance people arrived, lol. It was actually disc 6 for me since I started my meso's over w/legs :-/ .

My work out (BBL with personals)....

TJ 20 min w/o w/weighted gloves
Tonique2 Disc 2-upper body focused portion only with 2# DB's
STS Discs 3/6/9 Bonus Conditioning segments only
S90 Core Dynamics
KMC K/B Kicking Premix

STS Disc 11 check
APY60 (Amercian Power Yoga) Week 1 check

I hope I don't regret the STS workout plus ypower oga tomorrow.

Wendy ~ Sorry you didn't sleep well - hoping you catch some zzz's tonight. Your rest days remind me of the P90X rest week. :p

Kiki ~ The foam roller is awesome everywhere but my IT band, which needs it most. :( I really enjoy deep tissue massage so the deep work from the roller is great! I think it is helping my cranky knees, so I grin (and occ. curse under my breath) & bare it. I got my foar roller from here. It cost $22.95 plus, but I don't remember the plus. Hope your dishwasher and repair person don't keep you waiting all day... that usually happens to me. :(

Kristin ~ The longer rests sound wonderful. Cathe & crew move pretty quick in Meso 1. I'm pretty uncoordinated with the rope too, lol. It is a great workout, but I'm not sure my knees are happy with me.

Sherry ~ I am really excited about Disney. My DH and kiddos are going with me for our first WDW trip. My DD is super excited to meet Cathe. Should be fun (and hot)! I am hoping for a Chicago trip too. I'm in MO about 5 hous from Chicago.

LaDonna ~ Wish you were coming to Disney too!

My baby is paging...

Oops didn't mean to reply to my whole post earlier, just wanted to edit for the update, but I was trying to add it from the iPhone app. Idk what happened there.

Autumn- I'm STILL here waiting for the dishwasher to finish being installed! Should be about done now. The stove guy took forever too, and still didn't fix it! He'll be back next Tuesday (w/ the same 5 hour window of ETA) *sigh* .... anyway, I need the foam roller for the same reasons as you: stubborn IT band and bad knees. (how tall are you? I always blame mine on being short, lol.) What length did you buy?
