17 YEARS OF SOBRIETY!

Cathlete
Seriously "off-topic", but I wanted to celebrate a very meaningful date with my Cathe friends - today I celebrate 17 years of sobriety.

The journey since July 20, 1987 when I woke up and realized I couldn't go on as I had anymore, AND that I could make a singular choice one day at a time that would literally save my life, has been a bit goofy, a bit boring, a bit fun, a bit compelling, a bit exciting, but always in the here and now.

Getting to true fitness from the inside out has been a great part of that journey since the early '90's, and getting to Cathe - and her loyal and dedicated followers - has been a great part of that journey since fall 2000.

Thanks to all of you for being who you are. Those who are truly willing to take responsibility for their health, to make the daily behavioral choices and to put their enthusiasm as well as their sense of duty into those choices, are far rarer than we might think. And I've found so many of them here on this forum.

L'Chaim, my friends!

CONGRATS A-Jock (fellow Minnesotan) :)

That is a wonderful accomplishment and it sounds like that decision saved your life! You should be EXTREMELY PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!!

Way to go! ENJOY THIS DAY!!! :)

Congratulations AJ on 17 years! http://www.click-smilies.de/schnellauswahl/aktion033.gif

I am so thrilled for you and it is not boring at all! You have worked so hard to get to where you are today and I think, "What if this place didn't have AJ???" We'd be missing sooo much. Thanks for all you do to contribute here. (we could do WITHOUT a few of those KILLER workouts though! ;-)) Count me as one who is so privileged to "know" you. Here's to the next 17!!!

Yeah A-Jock:7

Anytime I'm in a hurry and just catching a few posts, I always stop at yours. You are an inspiration to many of us here with your first and foremost...humor, knowledge, straight-forwardness, and just A-jockness for a better word.

Congrats on your accomplishments not just in sobriety but in life and fitness!

So glad you are a part of this Cathe World.

Sami

Way to go girl!!! I remember last years post and how amazed I was at that one. Now you've just blown me away, congratulations. You are amazing women!

Congratulations! That's incredibly awesome. You are proof positive that we can take control of our own lives and do anything we set our minds to (and keep our humor along the way!).

Take Care,
Shelbygirl

Mazeltov, Annette! You are so obviously a woman who loves life and has created a beautiful one. That you have done so a day at a time and knowing the darkness and despair of alcoholism is incredible and wonderful and I return your salute! To life!

That is great! Congratulations! You have been a true fitness inspiration for me and I truly admire you and your dedication!

I applaud your sobriety, your honesty, your enthusiasm, your words and your spirit. I am also one who reads every Ajock post and I often smile in total agreement. You have such a clear and insightful way of looking at fitness and you express it so well. We'd be lost without your gleaming skull to guide the way!

Hope to meet you someday.

CONGRATULATIONS!

You should be VERY proud of yourself and all that you have accomplished in life. It seems to me that you take complete responsibility for yourself, which is a lot harder than blaming everything and everyone for your problems. So, relish in your accomplishment and thank yourself!

Keep on keeping on!

Jenni

What a happy day for you!!! Congratulations, Annette!

I have learned so much from you these last two years and enjoy reading everything you contribute.

You are truly a woman of strength, virtue, knowledge, wit and humor!

Thank you for who you are and all that you do!

Take care and keep celebrating life! ;-)

Congratulations on your truly special day. You prove it can be done...a lot of mental and emotional strength and endurance as well as physical, but possible!

God's blessings to you today and the years to follow.

Happy Anniversary A-Jock!

We are lucky you made that decision in 1987. You're an inspiration and a wonderful mentor.

Wow- wonderful news!! Congrats on your 17 years. As the daughter of a sometimes active and sometimes sober alcoholic father (now deceased from cancer), I can appreciate what the past 17 years may have been like. It's an awesome accomplishment and I hope you feel extrememly proud of yourself!!
