** 12 Week Challenge Jan 3rd/ Week 1**

Hello, All!
Yesterday I was doing well with my eating until I got into some cookies in a can that someone gave us for Christmas. They weren't good at all, but I ate about four of them. I've thrown them away now, along with a few other edible treats we received. This morning I did KB from the 4DS--was going to do the cardio from BC too, but got up a little too late. I've got to start getting up early again, since the kids will be back in school next week and I'll have to work
out earlier.
I also made those protein pancakes with oatmeal some of you recommended, and they are good!! DH rolled his eyes, though, when he saw that I was making pancakes with cottage cheese and oatmeal! He loves the "real" pancakes and makes them on the griddle for himself and the kids on weekends. Tonight I'm going to make a seafood chowder and try to eat a medium-sized bowl with a big salad.
I'll be back to check in later. Have to take DD to her dental checkup. Have a great day, and thanks for the motivation and inspiration!
Valerie

Lori.....OMG!!! I LOVE reese cups, they are my favorite! I'll have to try that sometime, mmmmmmmmmmm :9 .

Well, I managed to somehow pinch a nerve in my neck/shoulder area, OUCH! So I will be going to the store later to get one of those heat thingys that you put on the affected area. That usually helps.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Sally

Hi, all!

Amelia--I lost 3lbs, too! It really makes the strictness of phase 1 worth it. But, like you, I know it'll slooooow down once the two weeks are up. I also love the way phase 1 resets your tastebuds--and your sugar tolerance.

Today will be LIC for me--I'm hoping to add the bonus cardio if I've got enough time before the kiddos get home.

DH went straight to the treadmill last night after work and worked his bi's and his tri's, too! I was very impressed. He's naturally tall and thin, so the typical motivation to work out does not exist for him :)

Have a great day!

Kelly

ps--those of you who get up early to work out really amaze and inspire me. I wouldn't last!

Kelly,Congrats to you YAY!!! I agree,I have not craved anything sweet since I've started! Isn't it wonderful! A bit of a challenge,LOL;-) but Wonderful! Come on we can do it together:) And yay for your DH and his workout! Now,if I can get my DH to do the same thing,LOL.

Thanks for everybodies kinds words,Im really going for it this time! No turning back!:)

I got done with my workout, did Drillmax! I got through circuit five so Im proud of that! Alright, everybody have a Fantastic Day!:7

Congrats to all the weight-loss losers! :)

I'm not going anywhere near a scale for another week because I get discouraged easily. I see a difference in the mirror already and my clothes feel better so I know I'm losing.

I'm on Day 6 and starting to get nervous about my Free Day. Don't want to blow all my progress but I know if I don't take one the cravings will get real bad and then I'll really overdo it. Anyone have any tips?

Today's workout was BBC Shoulders & Back. Did the weights this morning. Tonight I'll do the cardio.

Have a great day all!

Sue

Meredith- Did somebody say Chipotle Meatloaf made with ground turkey???? I’ll have to find that recipe! And yes…the number on the scale Monday was frightening, to say the least! LOL But I know my body and how it responds, so I knew this week (and next week) were going to be all about getting it back down to normal, and then go from there! Extreme…yup, that’s the word! LOL

Lori & - I’m a HUGE peanut butter fan myself!!!!! Fond memories of me and my dad sitting together with 2 spoons and 1 jar! LOL

Story1267 (sorry, don’t know your first name)-HANG IN THERE! Even if it IS by your fingernails! HANG IN THERE! Sorry for all the stress right now. But persevere and FEEL the control you have in taking care of YOU while all this stress surrounds you. When it passes, you’ll be stronger for it!

Sally-sorry about the pinched nerve. Take care of yourself!!!!

Andrea-great job getting up this morning! Will you meet me tomorrow morning for our workouts? What time are you planning on getting up? I’m shooting for being out of bed by 5am. Knowing you (and others) will be up also (even if it’s not the same time) will help me! Also, Core will help. I’m certain. It’s a pretty much how I’ve been eating with BFL!

Karin-NO worries when it comes to personals. I rarely get a chance to do this myself! And it really REALLY does help to have all YOU guys here, having the same struggles, issues, fears, questions, etc! And, it’s that feeling of CONTROL that is what gets me good. Once I take control of what I’m eating and how I’m working out, I have SO MUCH confidence that it would blow you away!

Melissa (and Karin)-the scale is not the only way to gauge progress. I’m sure you know that. Jeans, your wrist watch, underwear :) The ONLY reason I’m stepping on the scale everyday this week is because I know what to expect. Once I get to this weekend, then I’ll only be weighing in on Sunday mornings!

Linckel-FEEL BETTER. Push the fluids, baby! And I’m with you! We’re forecasted for 40s this weekend, and 50 Monday and Tuesday. I’m planning on hitting the roads also!

Valerie-SOOO glad you liked the protein pancakes. I’ve snuck them in on my boys a few times already! I just nuke them and put their usual syrup on them and they ate them! lol

Kelly-GREAT JOB on the loss!!! Keep it up (and DH as well).

Sue-I’ve made a few Free Day rules for myself! lol First, before I take a single bite of anything, I have to weigh and do my measurements and pics. Then I drink 64oz of water….before eating ANYTHING! lol Then I start slowly; Itry to plan my Free Day (which is usually Sunday) ahead of time. For instance, this Sunday I’m going to make lasagna and garlic cheese bread (homemade) for dinner. I find that making a dish that I wouldn’t normally eat during the week is an excellent reward. I also try to stay ACTIVE on Free Day, so I don’t become a slug and just sit around and pig out. By mid-day on Free Day, I put on a pair of tighter-fitting jeans to keep my in check. Hope that helps.

Gayle:) :)

Hi Everyone

Unfortunately no workout for me today. Feeling a bit low at the moment. I changed jobs at the beginning of December and didn't like it so now I'm out of work. Although they've offered me my old job back. But I'm not sure its good to go back to an old job. The girls I work with are lovely, but the jobs not to good. We'll have to see.

Marcia - Have a wonderful holiday in Mexico. It should be fantastic and super warm.

Lori & Lorrie - I am so impressed on your early workouts how do you wake up so early. I get a bit of insomnia so have trouble falling asleep. I'd love to just go straight asleep and wake up refreshed at 5.00am.

Cheryl - Those kettlebells look good. They've just started selling them over here in the UK. I've had my eye on them for a while.

Andrea - I'm feeling a bit like you at the moment. My eating is okay until the early evening when I eat too many carbs. Hopefully now I have my new supplies of whey protein and egg whites I'll be eating better.

Valerie - I tried some protein pancakes off the BFFM Tom Venuto site. They are an acquired taste, but a good source of protein.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be feeling more positive and get my workout in first thing.

Take care everyone.

Love
Laura

Meredith,

The Step Boxing that I do is called CARDIO KICK STEP BOXING, the instructor is Kelly Coffey-Meyer, her website is www.coffeyfit.com or you can get it at Collage Video.

She has two step boxing workouts. Her first one has a red cover and it is good, but it is at a much faster pace. I like her newer one better with the blue and white cover. It is 70 minutes with warm up and cool down. She does the warm up and four combos with the step vertical, then three combos with the step horizontal, then two combos without the step, just kickboxing. There is also about an 8 minute kneeling abs section. It is one of my favorite workouts right now.

I have always loved step and kickboxing together. Cathe used some step kickboxing in her Cross Train Xpress Series, which was only for one small segment, but it got me hooked on it.

I hope this helps.

Cheryl

Gayle, I'll be up tomorrow morning, but probably 6:30 or 7 to WO since I don't have to work tomorrow. I'd like to do 4DSKB/Legs but don't know if I'm quite up to it yet - need the chest congestion to LEAVE! I'll do legs of some sort in any event.

I love the WW Core plan and I try to eat Core foods most of the time even when doing WW Flex. I've lost about equal amounts of weight on both programs so I can honestly say they both work...you just have to DO them LOL!

I'll have to try the protein pancakes - I think I have a recipe somewhere that I got from one of my WW Core friends. My kids have already been eating oat bran pancakes so this shouldn't be a huge stretch. As long as there's syrup on them, kids will eat them! I'm trying to transition from syrup (sugar free) to fruit on mine...

OK, I've got to get back to work. Need to work on a proposal this afternoon. See y'all tomorrow!

CHERYL-stop talking about kick step boxing!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I'm SO easily persuaded to buy new workout stuff (just like many of us on these boards! LOL). I LOVE the CTX step kickbox! I might just have to lift my spending freeze that I inflicted on myself! LOL

Andrea-know what else is good on pancakes? Sugar free jelly. YUM!

Gayle

Well yesterday I wrote down everything I ate and came out higher than I thought it was at 1700 when I'm aiming for 1400. I was hungry too and after seeing it all on paper I realized I've been eating too much the last month or so. It's so eye opening when you look at it on paper.

I did good though overall. Today I tweaked making lunch a peanut butter sandwich with peach chutney rolling in at around 300 cal.

Dinner tonight will be leftover walnut/cinnamon crusted salmon which by the way came out amazing.

Also, I still felt a little unsatisfied later after dinner so I had some mint tea with a little honey. Still craving sweets I guess.

I could only get through an hour of BM2 bootcamp premix last night before I pooped out. Tonight I'm thinking of doing Powerstrike.

I think Monday I am starting Cathe's new rotation minus the addons.

Great job everyone! And, can I come to Mexico?

Gayle -

Thanks for the tips! 64 oz. of water is a LOT to drink before eating anything. Wow! You have a lot of discipline. Now I'm having visions of myself chugging water Saturday morning (my planned free day) just so I can eat something! LOL

I like the idea of staying busy, too. In the past I've spent free days emptying my cupboards instead of eating the things I truly crave.

I'll let you know how it goes! :)

Sue

Hi All!

I am doing well and am eating within my points range. I am adding my activity points - but it seems to be working well. I did Amy's Advanced Step Challenge 2, 4DS KB Abs, and 4DS CST's. It was a fun workout! Although Combo 5 on the ASCII still has me flumoxed. I am always on the wrong side of the step with this one! :p

Good Evening Ladies,

My computer has been down for the past 2 days so I haven't been able to check-in. I have been very consistent with my workouts and boy am I feeling the DOMS today. This week I have been rotating PUB/PLB.I think I will do the same rotation next week then switch it up for the Gym Style Series. I threw in IMAX2 on Tuesday. My cardio endurance is suffering a bit, could only get thru the 7th intervalx(

My eating has also been pretty clean, although I have forgotten to keep a food journal this week. I can tell I have cut back on the eating b/c I feel hungry a lot sooner than I did before I started.

It looks from everyone's posts that you all are staying on track. Great job!!! Just think, week 1 is almost over :D :D

Carolyn

Today was a good day I ate kashi cereal for brkfst, grapefruit and toast. Morning snack yogurt and banana. Dinner was Turkey meatball, brown rice, and corn, afternoon snack salad with chicken, supper Turkey Sloppy Joes. I will be doing 30min on the treadmill and some kind of ab work. My DH bought me step blast timesaver so I will have a new rotation when Iam finished with the beginner. Tomarrow is Total Body Sculpting. We are having pizza for lunch at work for birthdays.

Just a quick check in for me 'cuz I still need to hit my workout tonight. Am a day behind so may try to get two in tonight since my DH and DS have hockey tonight :7

Think I'll do one and then take down the remaining XMas "stuff" which shoulda been done the last couple of days.

Eating - have been tracking on Fitday and am doing OK but still have craving for the salty. Got some baked chips and eat a couple when the craving hits.

Think I need more veggies since I got away from them over the holiday season.

Did take before pics today which I have never done before }( You all are so inspiring. . .

OK - gone for now at least to burn some of those chips off :p

By the way, Gayle, how long does it take you to drink your 64 oz. I don't have a problem with 32 during a workout, but not sure I could do another 32 in less than a few hours;)

Ooh, I love Kelly's step kickboxing workout, too! Sorry, Gayle. . . I'm being a stinker and I know it. ;-) Just couldn't resist. I'm procrastinating on my BBC cardio which I need to do yet tonight - or as I told my DH tonight "19 minutes of cardio hell". }(

Have a good evening.

Sue

Good point. I'd also like to know this. I think I could do 32 in an hour or so but I don't know about 64!!!!

Sue

Sue - these are KILLER cardio w/os aren't they? I just got BBC for Xmas and began it this week. OH MY!!!! But a fun challenge. Sorry Gayle - I cannot help on the other step kickboxing. Though I did do 4DSKB this a.m. and I LOVE that w/o.

Day # 4, not the best. I had 2 egg white + one whole egg scrambled with some Morning Star veggie sausage for breakfast, Key Lime Larabar for mid morning snack, skipped lunch because I was out shopping for fat clothes, was starving when I came home so I made a Greek salad and a bowl of Chunky Tomato soup, work out was Basic Step on an 8" platform, the UB add-on and the abs add-on. I made lemon pork chops on a bed of spinach with a baked potato and mixed veggies for dinner. Then, I broke.....I had TWO Cheryl and Co cookies for my "mini-chill". I ingested 400 calories in just two stinkin' cookies....but they were good!}( My weight is hanging on tight, still down two pounds. I am done eating for the day, my plan is to get my extra six glasses of water in between now and bedtime.

I am going to attempt to get up early tomorrow and workout before the kiddos get up. I am not a great morning person, but I think I would be more productive during the day if I got my workout out of the way first thing in the morning. I'll be thinking of all you early morning exercisers at 6:00 AM. You will be my inspiration!:) Tomorrow it's Body Fusion.

Have a great rest of the day, and I'll see you all tomorrow!
