10 smartest dog breeds

Well, my darling golden retriever is in the list, although I'm pretty sure that my Ripken is not as smart as our labrador was. What I am sure of is that my pup is 200 percent devoted to me and that I am the center of his world. Hmm, guess he is pretty smart after all--LOL!

My Chocolate Lab is unbelievably devoted and lovable, one of the top 10 smartest breeds - I'm not so sure. Our Chihuahua, however, is one smart cookie ;)

Thanks, Cynthia! There is not a vet or anyone who has yet to decipher which breeds she has in her. She's truly one-of-a-kind. She's my couture dog. ;)

Cynthia, my family just loves when you post photos of your babies. :) Our favorite is still Maximus waiting for his burger in the drive-thru.

Laura, your puggle is so cute. After I saw her, I added Puggle to the growing list of dogs I want.

The bestest dog in the world is the Heinz 57! Let's here it for mixed-breed pound pups!! Especially the old one's.

Actually, I love 'em all... and kitties, and bunnies, and ferrets, and... Critters rule.

Hmph. My Boston would make an excellent rescue dog (provided the person that needed rescuing had a chicken leg in his pocket).

In addition, I can say with great certainty that I am well protected from any menacing bunnies and squirrels in the area. :p

Snoopy on Bunny Watch:

Snoopy is amazing!!!
And I thought my Frenchie Merrick was a "nosy gossip-queen" staring out the window al the time!!! Must be in the breed!!! LOL
Not happy with Frenchies not being in the list... but my mom is... Golden Retrievers are 4th... although her dog is really dumb!

Chris.

My dog Clyde is on the list! He's #4..a golden! He is a big mushy goofball who doesn't appear to be all that bright (LOL) but he actually IS pretty smart. I just never thought his breed would be one of the top ten smartest! Cool! :)

My son's girlfriend just got on a breeder's waiting list for a baby french bulldog.:) She will find out St. Patrick's day how many pups the mother is having. She is so excited! She has planned for a baby bullie for a long time. She lost her childhood dog recently to hip displasia.
Anyway, I just think it's exciting. French bulldogs are close to boxers in nature so I think they are pretty darn smart if you ask me!

OMG, your Snoopy is just too darn adorable!!!
My yard is safe from turtles, squirrels, bunnies, blowing leaves(yes, we do get false alarms about blowing leaves). Oh, and moles. Maximus is trying his best to dig one up:eek:

Here is my patrol squad:
Notice the boxer spit on window. That's from the alarm system. Nothings perfect:D

LOL Cynthia, How many times a month do you wipe the walls down :p

I am forever cleaning windows and wiping walls, lol, but that's ok, I love my babies :)

Here's my boy doing window patrol, he's taken over the cat stand! DH says when it's around time for me to come home from work, he gets up there and patiently waits :D

I wonder how they assessed such a thing? What/how they arrived at their results? I.Q tests? My little Beagle Skyler wouldn't have had a prayer. She's very smart but would have eaten the pencil. I wonder that dog "intelligence" resides on a different plane than ours with aspects we can't measure. Too, I'm glad dogs don't bother making such lists ranking us. They just love us. There's a certain brilliance to that ...

Chrissy,

Your boy is so cute! It's so funny how boxers can curl up to fit in the smallest of spaces. I love coming home to my two in the window! It makes my heart sing:)

How can they possibly have missed Great Danes? Oh, I know. They've met my Dudley. :D

Had to lol to this. The male Danes are really dorky.

Now, having very little experience with other breeds, I have a giant ton of experience with Danes. The females are way smarter in general and that leads to trouble in the form of mischief. (Smart dogs are overrated, IMO) There is a big variation within the breed in the brains department (as with any breed I imagine) but the smartest I have fostered have been the deaffies. The deaf girl we have now will be staying permamently, I think. She is amazing.

Overall though -give me a big, dumb, dorky, wussy boy any day. Present company excluded.

Frenchies are amazing. Very tender and loving and the best thing: they very rarely bark... We thought Merrick was dumb/mute until her 2nd year!!! Then she barked at a plastic shopping back!!! She usually mumbles and makes cute little noises. She snores a lot... :(
One very important thing, though. Frenchies are crazy and jump around a lot. Try not to have the pup jump on or off beds or couches until it's a year old and its hip bones have developed.

Thank you!
That is really good info. I'll pass it along:)
