    First day sts

If it's any comfort, I didn't really enjoy the first cycle (endurance) either. I'm doing a rotation now, focused on the third cycle, and I'm enjoying it immensely. I like the straight-forward gym style exercises in this meso cycle, and heavier weight/lower reps. Also, I enjoy the longer rest...

    Eggs

Thanks for sharing this great idea! I bet you could make a great deviled egg spin on it, too, mixing the hummus w/the yolk. :D

    Severe Weather

Everyone keep safe and PLEASE BRING YOUR PETS INSIDE!! The deep freeze arrives in the WDC area later today and into tomorrow. Luckily, I'm still burning up excess leave, so I can burrow inside with my two golden retrievers (160lbs of fluffy canine heat!).

    A couple quick reviews

I thought I'd share my impressions on a couple new workout DVDs I got recently. Element//Barre Conditioning -- Since I have had such great results from Cathe's barre workouts, I thought I'd branch out. I just got Element/Barre Conditioning and have done most of it. The DVD is broken into two...

Another bonus---hard boiled eggs are a great portable snack.

The Pretenders, Romeo Void, Holly & the Italians, Cyndi Lauper. Consider this a vintage recommendation list from an 80s punker.

Idea for Future Greatest Hits DVD

This thread makes me happy, anticipating these releases. Especially since there will be "a whole series!" Greatest Hits/Step flows so well, not choppy at all, and lots of variety. The subsequent workouts no doubt will be of the same quality. Could you imagine a workout combining segments of...

Thank you, Cathe, for Lean Legs & Abs

This one is definitely under-rated. I don't people don't realize how effective the exercises in this one are in shaping/toning your legs. Since I add this one on to a plyo focused workout (Cardio Leg Blast or STS ply legs), I usually skip the compound weight section and do all the other...

    massage tools?

I've invested in a lot of these tools and have the Trigger Point Therapy Manual/Handbook (not sure that's the correct title, but I highly recommend it). The bed of nails mat is great. In addition, I just got a TP Therapy quad roller and love it. I've found it very effective/easy to use for my...

    MMA Fusion--Should I?

I have all of Cathe's KB workouts except MMA Fusion. My favorites (a virtual tie) Hard Strikes, MMA Boxing, and K,P, & J. :) In addition to Susan Chung and Cathe, I have some Powerstrike DVDs. Those are good but I got burnt out on them and haven't done them in awhile. I loved the original...

    Have you ever heard

Renee, it happens to me, as well, so for some of us, it's normal. If the bruises bother you, arnica gel will make them fade quickly. I tend to bruise easily, regardless.

    colds, viruses, etc.

For prevention, nasal rinse with a neti pot or NeilMed nasa mist every day. Also, drink kefir. If I feel a cold coming on, I take cold-eez. This has worked like a champ for me.

    MMA Fusion--Should I?

I gave the new Susan Chung (SWEAT, an apt title) a test run this morning. It's divided into three kickbox combos and three boxing sections, with a warm up, cool down, and very tough but fast-moving abs/core section. Equipment: optional weighted gloves or 1lb hand weights for KB & Boxing; 2...

Which is better Pure Strength or Slow and Heavy?

Agree with Clare. SH is one of my favorites and you will get great results from it. PS is also great, but SH is more bang for your buck, in my opinion.

Party Rockin Step 1 - Cathe is brilliant!

Funny you mention that, Nathalie, because I am working on learning the 10 combo premix in PRS#2. Some of the combos are from PRS#1, and I find them tough but doable, with time, persistence, and practice. I really love some of the moves (reverse rockhorse, for one, and the over the top w/the...

    Holiday Clean Up

Since I'm burning excessive use-or-lose leave and have time, I started a STS Strength rotation on Monday (Disk 25 and on). Now that I have my Valor weight racks, I'm able to go heavier and it was amazing to discover how much more I can bench press and squat! I also decided to do the Plyo legs...

    MMA Fusion--Should I?

Thanks for the honest review. I think I'll pass on this one. I just received the new Susan Chung KB/Boxing release, so learning that one should keep me busy.

    B&G Leg Blast PM

Many thanks for the recommendation. I did PM#15 this morning.:D Love the PM Extreme options, a great way to mix it up. I sound like a broken record but I really want Cathe to make another Cardio Leg Blast---the STS Plyo Legs are good but I find CLB a lot tougher.

Tower alternatives for a small space

The Valor can be moved very easily---not that heavy---and it's not unwieldy. I transport it from the room in which I store it to my workout area (living room), through a normal sized door way, with no problems at all.
