    Coconut Oil

Except I just replaced coconut oil in some healthy cookies that I make for my DH in replace of butter and they melted into one big sheet of cookie, so in some instances organic butter or ghee is best! But yes, love a good fried egg in coconut oil!

What do you eat w/ salsa, hummus, spreads, etc?

I dip all my veggies in salsa and sometimes I'll mix plain Greek yogurt and salsa together for a creamy salsa dip for veggies. Jicama is a lesser known veggie that is easy to peel and slice and tastes delightful with salsa or guacamole! Love celery and cucumbers dipped in salsa and it's almost...

Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Diet Stripped

I have the book and read it through and I think tosca is great. I don't however think she makes recipes that are quick enough for the working gal as I find that many of them call for lots of ingredients and can be time consuming to create. On a side note, Just remember, with diets that u tend to...

    Coconut Oil

Coating ur pans for eggs and baking sheets when baking is another great use for coconut oil. I love to make my omelets in a cast iron skillet for added iron absorption and I coat all my cast iron with coconut oil. Makes them non stick and coconut oil is so good for the colon too; so, like others...

fad diets & weight loss gimmicks: do you jump on the bandwagon?

I myself have done lots of fad dieting over the years, and until about 7 years ago when I started researching nutrition and personal training I had tried lots of things. But I heard something that stuck with me about dieting and maybe it would help your mom, mini natty - "going ON a diet, means...

Hey Cathe and RT-planners! I've been hoping for a RT to Chicago coming soon! I think the Windy City would be a fantastic get away for all us fitness junkies! Help needed...getting nowhere fast

I second the calorie upping as well. Most sedentary individuals who don't even workout need 1200-1300 calories just to breathe, grow hair, rejuvenate cells and so on. With your activity level your body is currently in starvation mode and not going to let u lose based on it's fear of survival. Is...

    Sugar

Pure via is made by pepsi co in response to coca cola co making truvia. Both are extracted from the rebaudioside (rebiana) from the Stevia leaf plant. The only study I've found about anything extracted from Stevia is that it did not have a blood sugar response in the body, it had no genotoxin...

    TOO MUCH INFORMATION

I totally hear you Wonderwoman. We are inidated with too much information going one direction and one going the other direction. Should I do low fat or low carb? Do eggs and better raise my cholestorol? Is yoga cardio? Is pilates resistance training? I know! It's so much.... But here's what...

    Diet, Diet, Diet, I know

I'm confused? I'm confused? Aren't you happy that your body fat percentage went down? That is a marker of better health, more so than what you weigh? I always encourage my clients to go by what their bodyfat is to see if they are on track rather than what the scale says. To me it doesn't...

    Sugar

Sugar is needed for good brain function and for energy but most of us don't realize that even broccoli has sugar. Most all foods contain some form of sugar except for some meats and fats. An active individual needs no more than 35-40 grams per day and that includes fruit, vegetables, and grains...
