    Can't do 60% 1 RM

For those who are comparing Cathe's and the crew's weights to their own...just for fun, or to help pick a weight if you didn't do a 1RM test...(or just observing)...remember that these are most likely NOT their actual 60% (or 65%, or whatever is called for that day) of 1RM's. They have stated...

    Target Weight

It is one dumbbell if that is what you used when you did your 1RM test (or two if that's what you used). It is calculated from whatever YOU entered in Workout Manager. Cathe recommended only recording one db, to make it easier to figure out what to grab(not having to divide by two), and so that...

    Need help with belly fat

Here are some discussion links about coffee and abdominal fat/bloating...don't know if any have scientific merit (yet), but the theories may be worth reading and considering. The main negative ones seem focused on the increase in cortisol, which supposedly encourages abdominal fat deposits...

New STS information and promotional pages

The promotional pages look very nice. I have one suggestion... The FAQ about bulk is obviously written to assure females that they won't get "bulky". While this probably does target most of your intended audience, there are a bunch of men out there who are (or might be) interested in this...

What type of barbell do you use with your squat rack?

You do not have to switch to an Olympic barbell (uses plates with 2" holes) if you don't want to. There are 6 and 7 foot "standard" (1" thick bars) available, which would then be long enough to fit across your squat rack. Then you wouldn't have to buy a whole new set of plates. However, if you...

    Deadlift on the step?

"Do note, that you always go from the top down - never from the bottom up - unless you really have a strong desire to hurt your back." Regarding the comment above...the traditional exercise called "deadlift" actually IS from the bottom up (then back down), and with proper form very effective...

    YES!!!!

I am a firm believer in healthy food being both a preventative medicine and a cure or improvement, for many diseases. It sounds like most doctors get very little exposure or training to this concept. You are a shining star, proving the positive effects of a healthy, wholesome diet. Hopefully...

    almond butter

If you are worried about it being inedible because you left some foil on, that probably didn't hurt it. The biggest danger of metal in a microwave is starting fires. Unless you actually burned the top of the almond butter with sparks or something, it should be ok.

Workout Card: Meso 1 Disc 3 Error

exercise listed as "body weight" but uses db on DVD "The WorkoutCard for Meso 1 Disc 3 lists Wall Squats Double Leg (body weight) with a 60% 1RM, but the dvd shows using dumbbells." This part of the original poster's comments has not yet been corrected.

    HELP

"On the workout card, is the target weight the weight we should be using based on the 1rm calculation?" yes, and it is 60% (at first, later it will be higher) of your 1RM.

    ? about yogurt

homemade yogurt Here's another idea... If you want to save $ and have the very freshest possible yogurt with no additives or sweeteners...it's very easy to make. Another advantage is that you'll get Vitamin D, which is not in many commercial yogurts (it's typically only added to milk sold for...

1RM Test - So Easy a Caveman can do it

"You need to experience failure as close to 10 reps as possible when you do a test. The results from a 1RM test of 20 reps are almost worthless as they will be highly inaccurate." SNM-regarding your note quoted above...would it be possible to change the 1RM test in Workout Manager so that the...

    1RM For 21s - SNM PLEASE HELP!

can WM calculate the variations for us? SNM - for exercises that are not traditional rep patterns, but still need a target weight, it sounds like we should not do a 1RM test. Right now, it appears that our choices are to "just guess", or pick a similar exercise that we DID test and use that...

    ? re: My 1RM vs. Avg 1RM

average 1RM It is confusing about why there is an average 1RM column at all. They made such a big point about not giving us Cathe's numbers, stressing the importance of using our OWN numbers, and it doesn't really matter what she does. (Plus, her filming days sometimes weren't up to her full...

    staying logged in

Yes, I have Internet Explorer 7.0. What exactly does clearing the cache mean...the Temporary Internet files? Also, I should mention that I have this problem in the Forums as well, not just WM.

    staying logged in

I was hoping that the new version of WM would solve this problem, but it seems it did not. I cannot stay logged in for more than about 30 seconds. I am informed "You are not logged in" when I try to do anything that I cannot type or select very quickly. I have Internet Explorer. Do you know if...

    Cyclists - Please Help :)

I do all my biking outdoors on a road bike, and I have a Terry Butterfly Ti, which I like a lot (and has gone MANY miles with me). Don't know if using indoors is different, but thought I'd share since I've been so happy with it. Concur with other poster's comments about using good (properly...

Can someone please define "Eating Clean"?

Just a note about the protein bars and shakes... I have tried to determine the "real story" about these for a while (reading library books, on-line articles, magazines, commercial websites, these forums, etc...). My observations show that any source that has a direct or indirect way to profit...

    Cardio in STS

There's no cardio DVD as part of STS, but there will be recommended cardio options (for the days in between weight workouts) that will come with the package.

    protein & rest/non weight days

Why is your protein goal that high? (That is asked in a wanting-to-learn question voice, not a judgmental, critical voice). I have been doing lots of reading on nutrition in general and specifically protein (at the library and commercial literature), and so far it appears that many people (in...
