Anyone do Imax3 on a 8 inch plateform?

I do pretty much all my step workouts (including Imax3) on 8 inches, but I'm tall (5'8") and still in my (late) 20's, with strong knees. I bet I'd get a really tough workout on 6 or 4 inches though! :7 :7 :7

    Lowmax too easy anyone?

I totally agree, and posted to that effect on another thread. I liked how my legs were worked, but didn't feel very challenged cardiovascularly. I'm glad to have it in my collection, but I was hoping for something harder.

    Low Max..Not for Wimps

I have to admit that I don't love LowMax. I used a 10-inch step to pump up the intensity (yes, I know that isn't advised...), but I still wasn't feeling the fun factor, and didn't feel as challenged cardiovascularly as I would have liked. It WAS really hard on the legs, and I loved the...

Overall Shorts - cute or childish?

Honestly? Childish and really out of fashion, in my opinion. Maybe that's harsh, especially because I used to own some of these, but every time I see a grown woman wearing overalls or "short-alls", I cringe. Just my 2 cents. ;-) }( -Kate

OT -- Ladies, what kind of cookware do you have? Brands Please!

RE: OT -- Ladies, what kind of cookware do you have? B... I have All-Clad, which I absolutely ADORE, but which is also unbelievably expensive. If you're looking to invest in cookware that will last forever and cook like a dream, All-Clad is it, but the cost can't be ignored. I think it...

    Opinions on my routine?

Hi Amy! Congrats on making a commitment to getting fitter. I'm your age (27), and although I'm a lot taller, I'm also of a medium build, so I thought you might be interested in my opinion. I'm certainly no fitness guru, but I did recently lose about 35 pounds, and have been doing step for...

    San Diego Tourist Attractions?

I agree about the Wild Animal Park. IMO it's more unique and striking than the Zoo. I also highly recommend the Gas Lamp. Be forewarned that several popular bars dot the streets, but you don't have to participate in that to enjoy the cool restaurants. My most recent fave is the Mai Tai...

O/T--something that annoys the heck out of me

Oh ladies, have I got a product for you! It's called the "Gal Pal", and retails for around $12 at www.containerstore.com. It's just this little round spongy pink disk. When you get deoderant on your top, you just rub one of the little sponges on the errant white stuff, and it disappears - no...

Bootcamp and HSTA.....what to do afterwards????

Can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly couldn't do a heavy-weight workout after either of these. I've heard it mentioned before on these boards, but I find myself unexpectedly wiped after both of these. Not sure what it is, because I agree with you that they don't look all that bad on...

    what multivitamin do you use?

I use GNC's "Women's Ultra Mega". Cheesy name, but I think it's a decent compromise between price and quality. HTH. -K

    SSRI's and weight gain

As I said, I'm not sure if there's evidence for SSRIs changing metabolism or not, but it's worth discussing with your psychiatrist. I wouldn't be willing to say with certainty that it's a complete impossibility without consulting the current research or speaking with an expert in the field...

    SSRI's and weight gain

Hi Danna, Unlike some of the above posters, I did experience significant weight gain on Lexapro and its cousin Celexa. There's well-documented evidence that some SSRIs (notably Paxil, but others do it too) increase appetite. As far as slowing down the metabolism, I've heard that they do, but...

Anyone a big fan of Christi Taylor's workouts as I am?

RE: Anyone a big fan of Christi Taylor's workouts as I ... Thanks Connie! So glad to hear that! I think I'll give Solid Gold & Just for Fun a try (once my credit card recovers from the recent Hardcore preorder craziness)! -Kate PS Sorry for semi-hijacking the thread.;-)

    A Very Sad Day!

Oh Cathe, I'm so sorry. We have a lab too, and I can only imagine your heartbreak in having to put poor Hamption down. I'm sure he and Dakota are having a joyful reunion. Our thoughts will be with your family today. -Kate

Anyone a big fan of Christi Taylor's workouts as I am?

RE: Anyone a big fan of Christi Taylor's workouts as I ... Hey Liz, I'm wondering if I didn't give Christi enough of a chance. I bought her Step Heaven a few years ago, but just felt totally lost in the choreography, and decided she wasn't for me. Now I'm hearing that one of the sections...

Are Cathe's older step workouts more advanced

I totally agree that the step section in SJP, while high on fun-factor, is too easy cardio-wise. IMHO, most of her newer "pure step" workouts are more complex choreographically and less intense cardiovascularly than her older ones. There are exceptions (Step Heat and StepMax are kinda easy)...

    cathe- premixes

I would also love to have (a few) premixes, and especially love those that are long enough to stand alone as complete workouts. They really add value to the DVDs, IMO. -Kate
