Anyone do Imax3 on a 8 inch plateform?

Okay, I'm not new to Cathe. I've been a faithful Catheite for several years now. However, an 8 inch plateform really knocks me out!!! I can barely get through it & I have to take breaks!
Just wondering if I was a wimp or if anyone else has experienced this out of body experience?!?!?

Yes, I do it on an 8 inch step but this is the first workout ever where I lower it to 6 inches for two intervals. The 1st and 7th intervals are just too much jumping at too fast a pace for me to feel safe doing them at 8".

My first Cathe video was BodyMax and when Cathe made that video, she was still on an 8 inch step so I followed her lead. I find that I am usually sufficiently challenged at this height and won't go any lower unless I feel like it's messing with my knees or causing me other injury. For reference, I am 5 foot 4 inches tall, so I feel that this is a safe height for me.

Imax 3 is a toughie but it's a great workout!

I dont go that high. I've found no difference in my results with the height of the step and I'm well into my 40s so find a lot less wear and tear on my joints with a lower step.

Uh, if you're a wimp-what the heck am I? LOL!! I did it on 4 inches and got one butt kickin workout. (( Bowing to those who use 6 inches and more!!!))

I do IMAX3 at 6 inches for now. I do the other IMAXs on 8 inches but I didn't move up until I was completely comfortable with the choreography so I wouldn't injure myself. I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference since most of the intervals seem to be done on the floor and the step portions are fairly straightforward and low impact.

I do pretty much all my step workouts (including Imax3) on 8 inches, but I'm tall (5'8") and still in my (late) 20's, with strong knees. I bet I'd get a really tough workout on 6 or 4 inches though!

I tbink 8 inches for this workout would be bad for the knees. It has me huffing and puffing on 6 inches and I am no cardio whimp.

I would be with you in that ambulance Aila!
I have found that I get just as good results from a 6 inch platform as I would using an 8 inch. In fact, my thighs have gotten smaller from using a lower step height!

I do everything on an 8 inch step, but after realizing Cathe and crew were doining it on a 6 inch I lowered mine at the 7th interval. It is much better now. I don't know if I will ever raise it. I think if I remember right Reebok Intense Moves had some leaps over the platform like this one. I used to do these with 8 inch, although I think Cathe moves faster.

I used 8" for years and started having trouble off and on with my joints. That was about the time Cathe started using 6". I went to 6" and haven't had any joint problems since. That's been at least 3 years now (KNOCK ON WOOD). Just see what works for you, but for me unless Cathe is using 8", I stick with 6". I even using 6" on older videos when she uses 8" (i.e. Imax). I find I have more energy doing the plyo moves.

I'm another one that always does step on a 8 inch step. But, the next time I do Imax 3, I am lowering my step to 6".

The first time I did IMAX3, I used a 6 inch platform and had no trouble keeping my HR up. (Maybe because it was my first time doing the workout.) The second time I did it (again on 6"), I couldn't keep my HR up during the step routines. So, finally the third time, I increased to 8" for the entire workout. With 8", my HR stays up during the step routines now but the blasts are so much more tough. I have to modify during blasts because 8" feels too high for some of the blasts but I don't want to keep lowering and raising the step.

I do IMAX3 on an 8" step, but keep a 6" bench off to the side (I have a big workout area) - I use the 6" step for the two harder blasts!

That #7 blast is a real killer even on a 6" step!

No way on a hog's day! :) I would be in the ambulance w/Conni. I quit using anything other than only 1 riser underneath a few years back. My knees won't let me do it any other way!

I feel the same way. I'm afraid that I will not get my HR up doing the step routines on a 6" and I don't want to keep lowering the step. Like I said before I've been doing step on an 8" for 12 years. I love Imax 3 so I'm not sure what to do.

Good Lord! I have not tried IMAX 3 yet, but I was going to begin on a 4 in riser to learn the choreography!

I never have done IMAX 2 on an 8 in riser, but I have used 8 in on the first IMAX.

Now I really feel like a wuss!

I am terrified of IMAX 3!

I just did this one this morning on 8" step. I can't lower mine. I have done this height for so many years. I feel like I would be cheating myself if I lowered it. I completed the whole workout without quitting. I have to constantly challenge myself. That first interval is quite a killer on 8 inches though!}(

No way! There are only a few Cathe workouts I do on an 8" step, and IMax3 ain't one of them!

Kudos to all of you who do though!

Tammy

Well, I'm still using an 8" step and have been forever. I did Imax 3 on it and was fine. I struggled with those on/off the step jacks on interval 7, I got the feet, but couldn't get my hands over my head. I will stick to an 8" step. I lowered to 6" last fall when I sprained my ankle and really didn't get the aerobic challenge that I needed.
