    weighted vest

I've recommended this one a few times before, but I just love it. I use mine quite often because I like to go as heavy as possible for my legs and it's tough to use anything heavier than 30lbs. If it's a barbell, I don't feel safe hoisting it above my head because I don't have a squat rack and...

    Horizontal Conditioning Volume II

The production quality is essentially the same, but I do love how with the year 2 101's she did a lot more "interval" work where she alternated cardio with horizontal moves. Sort of like mini-bootcamps. They aren't all like that, but several were. :) One little tidbit...she did say she is...

    Disc jacks

Disc jacks hurt my knees something fierce. I always modify by doing jumping jacks on my rebounder when they come up in workouts. If the pacing is such that it doesn't work to quickly go to the rebounder than I'll sub by doing low squat jacks usually. Really any move on the discs where...

Pepsi One and Potential Cancer-Causing Chemical

RapidBreath I also have interstitial cystitis! :( I commiserate with you completely. It totally stinks. I basically had to figure it out and diagnose myself as my doctor didn't even mention it as a possibility. I kept going in for pelvic and urinary pain thinking I had chronic UTI's but they...

Pepsi One and Potential Cancer-Causing Chemical

So I know we have had discussions on here about diet soda before, so I thought of you guys when I saw this on WebMD just now: Pepsi One and Potential Cancer-Causing Chemical from the article: I thought I'd post this for anyone that drinks this soft drink in case they'd like to switch...

    1200 or 1500 cal.

Haha! Isn't that the truth! I always find when I stop exercising my healthy eating habits go out the window. :o Not just from the pure calorie perspective, but I actually reach for more "empty" calorie junk foods when I'm not working out! They say a calorie is a calorie and I think...

    No results

Really? I don't know...to me 3 weeks is just barely getting started. Especially if you are over 50, it's just too much pressure to put on oneself to see changes that quickly. I've never understood the need to see instant results, personally. It just seems to be a guaranteed way to...

    1200 or 1500 cal.

Kim I'm SO sorry you have to deal with the wrench in the system that is corticosteroid use. :( They are absolutely necessary for certain medical conditions and when you need them, you need them and there is no way to get around that. Gaining weight easily is unfortunately an unavoidable side...

    1200 or 1500 cal.

What she said! :D I cringe when I see the "recommendations" for 1200 calorie diets, especially when you add exercise on top of that. How on earth would you sustain any energy or strength doing a tough workout on such a low calorie (IMO semi-starvation) diet? I need a minimum of 1800 calories...

    Rememering my first Cathe workout

I can never remember if my first Cathe workout was Cardio Core Circuit or the STS Hiit dvd. I bought them so close together that I can't recall. Unlike many of you other ladies, I didn't discover Cathe until about 2011. I had heard of her workouts for years but I was always too afraid to...

    Eggs

I love eggs! I used to have a connection with a local farmer who would bring me these huge organic brown eggs. They were monsters! Quite often we would crack the egg and find two yolks in there. The eggs you get in the store, even organic ones, don't compare to local fresh ones. Yummy...

    Horizontal Conditioning?

Hi Sherry! I'm still doing and loving these also. Like Kariev said, I have found NO other equivalent when it comes to results for my core (strength and aesthetics). I do like my upper body when I do these a lot, too but I also like kettlebells and strength training for upper body. I like to...

    Paul Katami DVD set

I want this one so badly. I'm trying to hold out a little while due to over doing it with Christmas this year with the kids. Ahem, need to re-fill the money coffers. ;) I also would like to hold out until I see more clips but dang, I love everything I have of Paul's. I even raved about...

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Cathe! Your boys are SO handsome! :D I always chuckle when I'm doing Butts and Guts and you talk about how your boys love the firewalker move and thought it was so funny. :p LOL Since they are on Christmas break, my two kiddos (boy-9yrs old, girl 6 yrs old) have been...

I bet there will be an anouncement in Jan.

I so hope we get another series this year! Like a few others, I would love to see another strength series along the lines of STS, XTrain (with heavy lower body) and Gym Style (or PUB/PLB, Slow and Heavy...:p). I really really hope we can get the excellent chaptering back, though. I...

Anybody else give up alcohol for good?

I so relate to those who said that they are getting less and less tolerant of alcohol as they get older. I am the exact same way! I'm 41 now and each year that ticks by I find I can tolerate smaller and smaller amounts of alcohol compared to when I was younger. I am another one who grew...

    New Convert

Hiit is addictive! I find myself wanting to do it all the time. :o However, it's not recommended that you do Hiit workouts more than 2-3 times a week. Actually, I think you're better off keeping it to twice a week to avoid over-training. It's tough stuff!
