Your opinions on the HiiT DVD?

Hey Cathletes! :)

I'm thinking about purchasing the HiiT DVD; if you own it (or heck, even if you dont!), I'd love for you to tell me your opinions on the programs? And do you think it lives up to its promise? Do you continue to feel a calorie burn all day --leading to a quicker weight loss / more muscle retention?

I have a bit of fat around my middle, unfortunately, but I think I am fit enough to handle the high intensity of the programs.

I havent ordered a DVD since last year's purchase of 4-Day Split (which I love with all my heart and always will! <3 ). I just thought, since there are so many options, I want to make sure I'm making an excellent choice before I fork over $26.99

Any input?

Have a wonderful weekend!

I think the price is WAY high but this is the only DVD I would buy full price. I'm liking and using most of Shock Cardio on a regular basis and I think they were worth the money b/c I got the presale price. The major differences from Cathe's past offerings are the workouts are shorter (under one hour), most have only one workout per DVD, and no to very few premixes so Cathe's workouts used to be a lot more bang for your buck even full price. That being said, I love the HiiT DVD. Some say they double them up but I find one short HiiT workout is enough for me. These are short, intense, get the job done HiiT workouts. I, personally, am sucking air in on the breaks. I don't know about "feeling" a calorie burn all day I just feel completely worked out. Sometimes I pair a HiiT workout with a weight workout and sometimes on it's own. HiiT is kind of like an entire workout of Imax intervals/BC Drills but with more variety. I highly recommend the purchase!

Go For Hiit

I pre-ordered the Shock Cardio Series, so I got a bargain. If I were paying full price today, I would definitely get Hiit. These workouts are very different than any I have done before, and I actually posted about it after completing my first Hiit workout. Here's a link:
http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271071&referrerid=107329. Cathe even commented that "it does get easier, but never easy", and I'm finding that she is right on about that. I think the 3 Hiit workouts on one DVD is worth the 26+ bucks. You'll find a lot more opinions on the Shock Cardio Forum.

I love the Hiits! You may have figured this out from the clips, but two use the step, one is on the floor. I am lazy about exercising (funny, I know), so I would have preferred two with no step, but I do understand that it's easier to get the heart rate up with the step. The only other thing that bugs me is in 40/20 she changes the step height at some point -- I was annoyed because I can't do it as quickly as they can. Also, she has a couple of one minute breaks, so if she had to change the height, it would have been nice to have used one of the longer one minute breaks for that. But, that's pretty minor -- all in all, I use this disc a lot and I really like the intensity in the short amount of time. I've never done more than one at a time, because I do try to go all out, but I do often add on some upper body work or yoga, or something else.

I preordered and it was certainly worth it!!! I have never had a preorder of dvds here that hasn't paid off big time :D It is like investing money in the bank :D

The HIIT and Travel Fit disks are the ones I use most from the Shock Cardio set. More and more often I find myself starting up the Double Wave when I'm tight on time, or a little too tired for Insanity, yet want to get an intense workout in. I also like several of the others very much, but don't use them as often, just because there are only so many hours in the day a person can work out

As to current pricing, it all depends on how you personally decide whether a dvd is worth the price. To me, it makes most sense to think about whether I'll use the dvd often, or if it adds something special to my week that I really like, as opposed to how long it is. By that measurement HIIT would still deserve a place in my own library post presale :)

Thanks, everyone! :) I've thought about the DVD for a few days now, and I think that's a good sign that I'm not being an impulsive shopper, and I'm especially glad I asked, because now I'm confident about buying, thanks to the reviews you left me with. The only other reason I was worried about the purchase (the first being the price) was that it seemed so short; just (approximately) 90 minutes of material overall? But your reviews here and in the link Soxy provided me with have sealed the deal. Sounds like the three routines are something you have to work at.

I've been looking for something that I can do in the morning before I go to class (other than the treadmill, that is; who ever wants to wake up to that? :p ), and since these routines are short, but difficult, I think this will be the key!

I'll be sure to let you guys know what I think of it after it comes in the mail. I just hope I can finish it without collapsing! :D

I just did my first Hiit workout! I decided to have no fear and started off with 40 / 20. Um, owwww! I'm really tired, but I feel really good about doing it. Who knew I could sweat so much from just thirty minutes' work? I do hope the others are at least a little less intense though. I had to modify quite a bit. I only had a six inch step height most of the time.

Thanks everyone who recommended the DVD! I'm so glad I got it, and I think it'll be well worth the money!

HiiT

Hi

I have all the shock cardio dvds and I love HiiT. It is great for days when you are short on time, but want the intensity. I have mastered the 30/30 and the pyramid...still working on the 40/20. I may never be able to do that and not have an extra break. I am almost 55 and can keep up, but I have to rest longer than 20 seconds on some of the segments. I am trying to finally master it. Good luck. Oh...I use an 8 inch step. I actually like this DVD series also because they work for my time period I have to work out in the morning before work.

I like HiiT very much. It is probably one of my favorite workouts right now. It definitely gets my heart rate up and I look forward to the breaks. It is definitley one kick butt 30 minute workout. I don't like really long cardio workouts. I love to do a premix from a weight DVD and then top it off with a 30 minute Hiit for an awesome 1 hr. workout. Some days I do HiiT and then I may walk on the treadmill for another 30 minutes just to add variety. I don't like walking on the treadmill for an hour because I usually get bored so this is a great compliment.

Cathe's Greatest HiiTs!!!

I love the HiiT DVD!!! I have only been doing 30/30 and DWP (I'll be tackling that 40/20 soon, though !) and have noticed INCREDIBLE improvements in my overall cardio capabilities!!!! I do one of the HiiT workouts once per week and the new Intensity DVD once per week sandwiched between weight days. I don't think I could make it through Intensity had I not been doing 30/30 and DWP. I have even noticed improvement with Step Blast and other "steady state" cardio. HiiT was my first Cathe DVD and WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!
Nancy
I am so impressed that you started right in there with 40/20!!!! You go girl!!!;)

the HiIT workouts are great! you feel so accomplished in such a short time and that's the beauty of it. this type of training you only need in shorter durations. think breathless...that's where you go during these workouts.

my first love is mtn biking & there are times when you are climbing a steep technical section of trail that you get in your red zone. every time I do a HiIT workout I know I'll be more efficient in my riding.

I bought CCC with my STS purchase but HIIT will be the next one I get. It looks really good, looks like you can do all 3 at once or simply tack one on to another workout if you choose.

The Hiit Dvd is great if you are short on time and want to burn some serious fat. That is exactly what these workouts were intended to do...Burn Fat! And they do! I've been complimenting the Hiit DVD with my strength training for the past month or so and I'm FINALLY breaking through a serious plateau!!!
