You'd think I would have learned by now

I just argued my way INTO a ticket. I think that means I win the loser of the day award. I just hate it though when cops enjoy throwing their weight around so much...

I hate getting pulled over...

But how did you talk your way INTO one?

I'm 45 and never had a ticket till I was 42, now I've had 3!! Two were in town and I was driving with the conditions, no traffic, four lane road and not watching the speedometer. It was frustrating because each time I had both hands on the wheel, no eating, drinking, talking, texting etc...but I was going over the posted limit. What can you say?

What was yours for? Did you get the third degree about where you were going and why, where had you been and why? LIke I'm gonna tell them "I'm on my way to pick up some drugs", or "I have to get away fast from that lady whose purse I stole".

Don't get me wrong I respect law officers! But the ones that pulled me over were young and cocky!

Susie! He started off asking me if I knew how to read a sign. What a nice way to insult someone's intelligence, right?
I drove past a road closed sign at 7:30 on a Saturday morning; no construction, no traffic, no holes to fall into, etc... I should have just said I was sorry and took the warning but of course I wanted to defend myself ;) Gotta love those badge-heavy tough guys!

One of the best things my dad ever taught me is that you don't have to like an authority figure or the system but know how to use it to your advantage. He taught me to say "good evening/morning officer", "yes, sir", "no sir" and that was it. It was talked me out of a lot of tickets that I deserved. Does it mean I like doing it? No. But I like not getting tickets...

Ha ha ... my dad taught me this too! And his dad taught him exactly the same thing. Always, always be polite and humble with a police officer, and do what they tell you. You can't go wrong. I've gotten out of a few tickets (also that I deserved) this way too. I'm already teaching it to my 8-year-old. :)

I live in a small town where the police force is very strict on obeying the traffic laws. I've never gotten a ticket, but this last year I got pulled over twice: once for speeding and once for not fully stopping at a stop sign.

I always immediately hand the officer my driver's license and registration, and say yes sir, no sir, etc. The thing that saved my bacon both times was the fact that I was wearing scrubs (I am a medical technologist at big hospital laboratory). One even said he liked nurses, so he let me go. I didn't bother to correct him, since most people have no clue as to what a medical technologist is.

I have been told many times by folks that live around here that I have been very lucky indeed. I really watch what I'm doing while I'm driving now!

Ooh I hate when officers abuse authority! I once got a ticket for going 35 in a school zone. The lights weren't flashing, so I figured it wasn't 25 at that time. I was really upset and crying, because I was in school, and on my way to an internship. He didn't care and wrote me a ticket anyways. Grr!!
