Hey Jes, remember on the road trip, the whole "I'm 5'6"" "Well, you can't be because I'm 5'6"" thing?

I just finally measured myself and I'VE GROWN AN INCH!!!!

My whole adult life I've been 5'6". Everytime I get measured - 5'6". Just now measured - 5'7"!!! What's up with that?

Anyone got any ideas?

Were you wearing heels? ;-)

Is your hair taller? ;-) --> Oops, only applies to "big-haired" Texas girls!

Sorry...gotta get a smart-a$$ remark in there sometime today!

See ya...OH...forgot to mention way-back-when...I LOVE the target stability ball picture! Totally cracked me up!

Shelly you have had any kids? Sometimes the body releases a growth hormone at that time, and you get bigger feet and a little bit taller. Most though just get the bigger feet. A few very lucky ones get to be taller without the bigger feet.

Also it could be the fact you've been doing Cathe and standing up straighter then you use to. I use to have quite a few females who would always slump very slightly when they stood, you could hardly tell unless they were wearing tight clothes. When they really started with the upper body strength training, they all thought they grew an inch from it. But it was the fact they were able to pull their shoulders back more then they had been able to and elongated the spine, which actually gave them another inch of height.

But congrats on that inch no matter how you got it.

I got measured at the doctors a year ago and I was 5'6". I knew something had to be wrong because I have been measured a few years ago and I was 5'8". I knew that was more like it. So I got my husband to measure me at home and I was indeed 5'8" All I know is maybe I slouched too much or this nurse didn't know how to read. I also don't have the best posture in the world.

I've measured 5'4" all of my adult life, until about 5 years ago, when I started measuring 5'5"! I've also attributed that to having better posture once I started upper body strength training. I agree -- I'll take it!

Kit-
And here for the longest time I thought my foot went from an 8 and a half to a nine because of my weight.:)

You know about 3-4 months ago my mom started telling me I looked taller, and then I noticed I had to worry where I placed my step because when I jumped, my fingers would hit the ceiling and at 5' 4 that NEVER happened... I've also attributed to working out and improved posture!

LOL! Hot digity damn! i knew it:p i came home astounded that my driver's license had the wrong height and i even considered that measurements in Canada were different, but alas, i am still 5'6 and glad to know i am not shorter than i thought:+ Thanks for letting me know;-)

That's crazy! I want to grow one inch or two or three! Is that even possible? I always thought women's bones stop growing a year or two after their first period and after menopause the opposite can happen if we don't take care of ourselves. Anybody care to explain Shelley's wonderful success story?

I can't explain it, but I grew an inch after age 21 from 5'5" to 5'6". Now at almost 50 years old, I've realized that sometime in the last few years, I've put on another inch to make it 5'7". :p

This is so not fair. I was 5'4" my whole life (or so I thought), & last year my dr. informed me that I was 5'3". I want to grow too! x(

This is fascinating. DH and I had physical exams a couple of months ago, when we purchased life insurance. I've been 5'4" all my life, but the insurance nurse measured me at 5'5". I had her double-check the measurements, and she swears that I am indeed an inch taller. I made a joke about the pregnancy growth hormones making me grow, but didn't think it could seriously happen. My feet haven't grown, thank goodness. So, maybe it's the hormones, and maybe it's better posture after 3 years of consistent weight training? Or maybe the world is losing it's centre of gravity and in another 30 years we'll all be tall, thin, and in danger of floating off into space.

Cheers,
Sandra

Sandra - I'm going with the improved posture theory. My SO joked that perhaps I'm growing so that my 7 year old DD, who is already 4' 3 1/2" tall, doesn't outstrip me too fast:p

My feet swelled during pregnancy - I went up a shoe size. But as soon as I had Sophie and things got back to normal, my feet went back to their normal size.

So unfair!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess cause I hate being short, my posture is better. If you could all mail your extra inches to me, I will reimburse you for the mailing fees. Thanks!

You're 5' 4? I've actually stood next to you at the road trip and you're taller than I am. For years, I'm telling everyone I'm 5'3, 5'4??????
