workout room temp

Is there such a thing as th eoptimim temp while workingout? My workout area is in our living room which is also where our coal stove is. I've been doing fine until today. When I woke up it was at least 85 degrees in here if not a bit higher. BM2 was my wo for the day. I started out great eventually opening the door to the front porch & moving the fan in the doorway to move the cooler air inside on me. I got the temp down to 81 but Man was I HOT!!! When I got to the circuits I had to really modify the blasts!
Almost to the point of having to stop. The upper body work came & I felt like was form wasn't as good as it should be since I was so worn out from the heat!
Tommorrow is IMAX 3 - need to figure something out for thatone for sure!!
Another is not an option unfortunately :(.

I don't know that there is an optimum temp, but I would probably fall over and die trying to do BM2 at 85*. I workout in the basement, and we keep the heat in the house at 66-68, depending on how cold it is outside. The basement stays a little cooler, but when the furnance is actually running, it gets kinda toasty. And the furnance has a habit of running when I'm trying to exercise. I've been known to go upstairs and turn it off til I'm done. I'd say my spot runs about 65* or so, and close to 70* when the heat's running, but it feels like more w/ the hot air actually blowing. Its a little cool down there for just hanging out (got to put on socks and a sweater) but for a tough workout is perfect! If I'm going to be outside running I like it btwn 40-75. Warmer and I get hot and blah pretty quick, colder and it starts to get harder to breathe, sucking in all that cold air.

My thoughts,

That's about the temp I like to Nan. Low 70's would be the max. A few wks ago I ran & it was upper 30's - perfect I thought ;)

The whole time I kept thinking "how do they do that under those lights?!?!?" And smile on top of that!!!

I would MELT in those temps!!!
I run on my treadmill in the garage with the door open in the winter!!! For a small person I get VERY HOT!!!

When I am doing BM2 or Imax 2, I shut the heat off and open the windows.

Darn menopause :(:(

And exercising in the summer is TORTURE for me. I wear a cool wrap on my head and neck. I look pretty snazzy!!! And very 80's

I workout in my basement. I like to have the thermostat set at 73 degrees. That seems to be perfect for me. I also have ceiling fans on in my workout room. This time of year when the temps can be a little extreme outside (70s to 80s during the day 30s at night) it's not unusual for the air conditioner to be on in the basement and the heater on upstairs.:)

I used to work out in the living room and it was not unusual for me to open the windows even in the dead of winter I was so hot. Now I work out in the basement. We keep the upstairs at 68 so the basement where I work out is around 62. Oooo, perfect workout temp.

I work out in our office which is on a separate zone and I keep the heat off. I would die at 65 degrees let alone anything higher. The summer is hard for me even with the air conditioner on. I keep my house at 62 and haven't turned the heat on yet this year and I live in the Northeast. I find that I start working out wearing layers and just keep peeling them off. By the ending stretch I am putting at least one layer back on. Funny how we are all so different.

I can't work out when it's too hot, and I can't work out when it's too cold! :p

My workout room has it's own heat/air zone. I keep it about 60-65 degrees year round.

But if you're talking about running outside. 50 degrees is about as cold as I like to be outside running. Any colder and I'm on the treadmill.

At 85 degrees, I turn on the air conditioning! No way could I work out in that kind of heat.

Our exercise room is in the basement and runs around 60 winter or summer. In summer I still get too warm... I can't explain why the 60 degrees is not cool enough when it's hotter outside, but fine in the winter. in winter it runs a little less than 60 but being a daylight basement, it's temperature stable.

we do lots of outdoor sports and I find my efficiency is good down into the teens. 70 or above... I need to sit down and take it easy so I don't over heat. I exercise best in cool temps. I don't sweat much, regardless of how much I drink, so I rely on the surrounding air temp to keep by body temp in control.

I wear a cool wrap on my head and neck. I look pretty snazzy!!! And very 80's

I soooooooooooooooo have to see this one! :p

I workout in my UNfinished basement so it's always cooler than the house. I keep a thermometer in my workout area just out of curiosity and it's gotten as low as 42 down there.....makes you tougher, right? lol But being a runner, I have run in colder temps too. Whatever works!
