women under fire for workout

My son just turned one year old. I worked out 6 days per week, weights and cardio throughout the pregnancy. I did the talk test to make sure I wasn't overdoing it. The week he was born I only worked out 4 days. ;) I was tired.

I talked to the doctors about it in the beginning. Without hesitation, they all said continue with what I was doing.

I gave birth to a strong, healthy boy. He was so strong that the pediatrician predicted that he'll be an athlete. :)

P.S. I was ticked during delivery.....all that working out was supposed to make it easier. I can't imagine what it would have been like if I was not fit!

I did exercises 6 days a week my 37 weeks of pregnancy and was not easy, was my 4th child and the last one but was the most dificult delivery.

I've seen this posted all over the place. I think she is giving us a new culture shift. I know there are many of us that remember women wearing big blousy shirts during pregnancy. The ladies now wear skin tight (belly button poking out) We would of never done that. We can thank Demi for her naked pregnancy magazine picture circa early late 80's 90's can't remember and not googling it right now:) My mom and MIL were appalled I had a maternity swim suit/ pregnant women weren't doing bikinis yet. I was pushing the culture at the time

My sons are 20 and 16 so I haven't been pregnant in a long time. I was a runner and continue doing that until the 6th month then it was uncomfortable. I did continue to work 12 hour shift on my feet, lifting patient and walked 4-5 miles on my off time. I actually walked 4 miles right before going into labor with first son. I also hung sheet rock, painted and continue my regular activities. I had many women warn me to be careful. I felt fine and heck I was only 23 so I had youth on my side :D

The point I'm making is I knew my body when something didn't feel right I quit (running stopped) I still walked a average of 20 miles a week and worked until the day my water broke. I also kept just as active with my second pregnancy.

She wants to make a point/change or she would of never went for this article. She doesn't have the fame of Demi wonder if a celebrity with her person trainer would of done the article. I can only imagine it would get more positive support cause we all know American worships it entertainment/famous folks  The actress would of been brave, a roll model etc.

Unless you are high risk most doctors will tell you to continue your regular workout routine but don't increase or stress your body. My guess is she just kept lifting a comfortable weight to keep from loosing muscle tone the last trimester. She probably kept a more robust lifting program until her center of gravity shifted. I've done clean and jerk move type program. She would of had to lighted up to continue just to keep comfortable

I think the point in her article is she kept a fitness routine during pregnancy and she got her 15 min fame ;)
