Wish me luck...extensive bloodwork today...:(

Well, it gets from bad to worse. I went to an Endocrinologist and she says that the regular MD misdiagnosed me and I most likely do not have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. She says that the Synthroid I was on was very dangerous, even fatal, for me and gave me a long medical reason as to why...etc, etc. She is sending me for extensive testing today for...yes, the "C" word...and also for a rare disorder known as Addison's Disease - An autoimmune disease of the adrenals. She even thinks that the reason I had such a bad labor this last baby which was 6 mos ago was because I possibly had an Addisonion Crisis. I have been "deteriorating" since his birth...I had wondered what was going on with my body. If I do have Addison's I would have to live with a medical card and beeper forever. :( I am also getting an ultrasound of the neck this afternoon. If that is irregular, then I am to be sent for biopsy. I am so scared. :(

I just wanted to update you all. Thanks for listening. I'll be in touch once I get results...

Wow, Clarissa, that's a lot for you! I'm sorry it's so much more complicated, but also relieved to hear you went and got a 2nd opinion!!

Will keep you in my good thoughts and prayers today.
Let us know how it goes...

Clarissa I was telling a friend about your diagnosis of Hashimoto's disease and your reaction to the medication. She has Hashimoto's and told me to tell you to get off the medication immediately and that you most likely don't have it. Wow she was so right. But I want to send you hugs and prayers to be well and wish you all the best.

Good luck, Clarissa. It's a good thing you went to the Endocrinologist. At least now, once all the blood work is done and you get the results, you'll get the proper treatment and be on the road to feeling better soon.

Hugs and prayers...

Oh no! I know what it is like to just not know and have 2 Dr's tell you 2 different things. Deffinitely get another opinion. I hope all works out. Sending you hugs.

Clarissa,

I'm so sorry for all your going thru. Sending lots of (((((((hugs))))))) your way. Hope you get some answers and more helpful treatment soon.

Clarissa,

I am so sorry for what you are going through. At least you got a second opinion. Finding out what is wrong with you is the best thing you can do for yourself. Let's just hope and pray that it isn't anything serious!!! I am also sending you {{{{{HUGS}}}}} from cyber space. Please keep us al posted. Clarissa, don't let this get you down. You've got all of us behind you! Hang in there and keeping looking ahead.

I had cancer and it's not the worst thing in the world. I'm so glad you have a dr that's on top of this.

Well I had the bloodwork - 6 vials and I fainted. I tried hard. Just such a vagal response. Wish I didn't have that problem..feel so weak.

Then I had ultrasound. I am told I have a goiter and some large nodules. Next step is biopsy. I am so scared out of my mind right now I can't even think straight... :(

Thanks again, all.

Deep breath, Clarissa. Remember many times your mind and its imagination can run CRAZY with the worst case scenarios! I have been there and trust me STRESSVILLE is no fun.
Take all of this day by day and remember that all of us are sending you GIANT hugs! :) Use us to vent! :) Take care of yourself!

Many thoughts and prayers coming your way. I know how hard it is because I freak out over medical stuff too.

Clarissa - I can't help you with the bloodwork, but I also have a goiter and some large nodules. I went through the "C" scare and got a lot of help from the wonderful ladies on this forum. I will tell you, that nodules are rarely cancerous (mine were not) and even if they do come back cancerous, thyroid cancer has an incredibly high cure rate (95%). Okay, so it's still scary. But there is a lot of hope and I'm glad you're getting good medical care now.
