I AM SO MAD!!!! I submitted my plans for a pool to my township and even though I have almost 3 acres of land, they are saying I have to have a special drainage system etc.. put in because "too much" of my land is "covered". WTH??? I only have a house and a driveway and TONS of land. They claim that I'm only allowed 8400 sq feet of "coverage" and I have 9840! People, this is out of over 100,000 sq feet!!! They are telling me that I either have to put in a system that could run me lots of $$$ or I have to go to 2 committee meetings and request a waiver. Of course I am on vacation when they have those meetings, so If they granted it to me, I would not get my pool installed until maybe August! I am so po'd, it's not funny. Tonight, I plan to rake up my turnaround, dig up my landscaping and narrow my 500+ft driveway by hand! Darn it, if they aren't letting me put in my pool!!! >:l I already told them I would be resubmitting my measurements tomorrow.

<---used <---'s system all.the.time... then <--- got injured and didn't use it for months, and now the battery's dead (and it can't be replaced, so <--- will have to buy a new sensor)

When I was working at a newspaper several years ago (before kiddos), my publisher offered me the managing editor position on my terms (I named my salary and my bonus, basically) because he was desperate to fill the position and knew I could do it, because the old managing editor and I were good friends at the time, and I filled in for her A LOT and I was currently the news editor. Well, I had been increasingly unhappy with the office politics and really daunting hours, and I had submitted my resume to a university to work on their faculty newspaper, just as a writer. The pay wasn't as good as the managing editor pay would be, but I knew that the pace would be better, the people nicer, the job more interesting and most of all the hours more suitable to starting a family, so I bypassed the editor job and took the university job and NEVER regretted it. It was probably the wisest career move I ever made.
<--Thinks it would be a good time to embark on a new career if that's what you truly want. Do it now before you have kids. That's just my 2 cents worth. :)
<--Adds that <--thinks Liann's township committee members need to get a life.
<--Says we have to get neighborhood association approval before we can even put a swingset in our backyard. Geez!
