Why don't folks have stretch marks??

I got thigh stretch marks during puberty and belly marks with pregnancy (had big babies and extra fluid both times--hard to avoid some stretching there) but they all faded to very pale, not too noticeable marks (I'm pale all over so that helps). I used special creams once in a while, but not consistently. I don't show skin that often, since I'm still trying to lose some weight anyway. I do think a lot of it is genetics--the women in my family all have similar stretch marks (though my mom's are slightly worse than everyone else's).

Lainie, faded to pale???? I have pale skin too, but I've had my big, purple stretch marks for 35 years, with no sign of fading yet. :(

But then again, I'm 51 and hardly have a gray hair on my head. :) So, it all balances out, right? ;)

I used the Palmer's cocoa butter when I was pregnant and don't have stretch marks. My mother bought this for me and told me it was supposed to help - and she was right!

And the reverse is also true. I'm VERY pale and they're there but you really have to examine my body to see them.

I used that palmers cocoa butter also and i still got stretch marks.I used lotion almost everyday after i showered, sometimes with vit E oil also. I also had them prior to pregnancy on my hips and thighs from growing, but i cant say that the lotion helped. maybe if i didnt use it, it would have been worse..I dont know. I am hoping they do fade out over time however.
