Who Cares August

Hello

Lisa - Yes, it does sound like you'd have to modify so much it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Jody - was she raising them at home or at uni? It's good you've got some hiking buddies. Do you have the ICE series or did you not bother with that?

Did a Susan Chung kickboxing today. I was drenched!
Good news on DH, it's a haematoma (sp?) not a reocurrence so not too serious. He's away with DD this weekend so I've got the house to myself. Might go and see the BFG (on my own, how sad is that?!)

23 miles today, had to share the trail with cows!

Jody, so you've had a good experience with meet up groups with people you never met? I've looked at a couple but not really found any close by with my interests. Maybe I'm a loner (not good on a bike), but I feel a bit better now that we have AAA in case I ever get stranded by myself and DH is out of town (my sister told me in not so many words that she wouldn't rescue me). Ronne, so happy it's nothing major with DH! I don't think I've ever gone to a movie by myself, heck we don't even go to the movies anymore! Mary, I'm sure you're busy getting those kiddos off to college! Have a great weekend everyone!

BFG looks good, have fun if you go. She is home for summer, and was bringing them back and forth for around the clock care from her job at animal sanctuary. Crows are very social and smart and difficult to raise as singles. One passed, one was released and one will be used for education/not releasable.
I do have ICE. I like it but it doesn't combine things in a way I find most useful. I can do the blast only pm but I feel like it misses some of the good stuff from the main workout and I like blast/hiit mixed in w/ my regular work out. Muscle melt downs seem too long for some body parts and I like to limit the unilateral moves. I think the main work outs are a little shoulder intensive. I was just thinking that RWH is prob my fave series.
Lisa, tell them to Moooove out of the way! So far ok w/ meetup. I just have to get out there.

Hi girls! Today did a Jari workout. Ronne, so relieved for you guys! Our minds always go to the worst places! I have been to the movies once by myself, a matinee, it was actually quite nice! Didn't have to share my treats! Lisa, those cows are adorable! What a great surprise! Jody, I'm going to order the new ones, not the cycle one tho. Do the crows live in your house when they come for a visit? I'm not a huge bird fan! Hello to Murphy and Roxie! Have been trying to get th kids ready, DS leaves Wednesday and DD next Saturday, then we go to Boston to move him into the dorms. First he is going on a freshman camping trip. I'm keeping it together so far! The Olympics help! I'll be back when I can! Mary

Just cycling this weekend, 25 miles Sat, 19 on Sunday. My hip flexors and lower back are hurting (have had 100 miles in the last 2 weeks , and 75-100 each week since we got these new bikes!). And it's going to be hot tomorrow so will take a break from the bike. Mary, I'm not a fan of birds either. Ronne, Saw Farah win the gold in some running event, and it was after he fell!

Hi everyone

Lisa - love the cows. They're let out in to the fields near our house around this time every year. I love walking into the centre of town through them!

Jody - thanks for the ICE review. Gives me food for thought.

Mary - wow, counting down now! Is the youngest looking forward to them going? I often go to the cinema on my own (I just meant it's a bit sad going to a kids movie without kids, really!). I've even been to the odd gig or play on my own as well. I'd rather go on my own than miss out.

So I went to see Ghostbusters in the end instead. Loved it! Also watched loads of Olympics over the weekend, I've got square eyes! Managed to fit some workouts in as well, did some yoga on Saturday, an Amy Bento kickboxing DVD yesterday and 4DS Chest & Back with med ball abs added on today.
DH is recovering well and working from home today and tomorrow.
I've got some reading to do for work so I'm taking it outside while the sun's shining.

Just a short walk. Half the distance I used to walk and stayed on level ground. It actually felt ok! Then GS BSB. Ronne, lol on square eyes! I must admit I was a wee bit scared of being right by the cows, embarrassed my poor DH who raised cows on a farm. On the way back I was less scared but I did scare a big one with the sound of the bike motor and my erratic handling since I was trying to take pics as I rode because I was too scared to stop right by them. That old cow scrambled off the path then turned and gave me the stink eye

Hello

Lisa - well done on the walk! Great achievement.

I was going to post a view from my 'office' in the park yesterday but I can't get it to work. Ah, technology ...
KCM Stepboxing 2 today.
Another sunny day and I'm in shorts again!

A mile walk today, that's all Suki wanted to do and it's probably for the best. Then GS CT. Ronne, one of the few days you get to wear shorts! Kinda hot here but cool front coming so I'm resting up my cycling muscles for that. Still hip flexor and lower back and glute soreness, probably from the higher cadence I'm doing. Technology is frustrating at times. I'd help you but I use my phone and tapatalk app and I don't think you're using those. I try to keep up but I still find things frustrating, like wth is the story feature of instagram for and how come I can only post a live pic (not one previously taken). I'm not curious enough to search Internet to find an explanation. if something isn't intuitive to a user it's frustrating

Hi all. Sorry to be absent. I did circuit blast yesterday, a 'blast" from the past. Today was MTB from the ICE series. I did ME the other day and it started freezing on me. The computer isn't playing dvd's either - and since DH "fixed it", he doesn't want me to take it anywhere to really get it fixed. Ugh. I will have to keep at him.

Waves to all.

Murphy

Hi ladies

Murphy - what do you think of ICE? I know you've been having to modify, but any advice appreciated.

Lisa - Sensible keeping it short there, Lisa. This is turning out to be one of the best summers we've had in years. I'm in shorts again! I'm usually pretty savvy with tech but the photo was too big and I couldn't be bothered faffing around trying to shrink it.

Yoga today, a longer one, about an hour, attempting to get my leg behind my head (nowhere near ...).
Been out to the park to work again, it's bliss ...

A bit of pilates trying to loosen up my glutes/hips/back. Have to take advil it hurts so much, guess I pushed it too far cycling. Hoping for an easy ride tomorrow to loosen things up. Ronne, I agree if it takes too much effort, forget it! How nice working in the park! Murphy, good luck with getting it fixed.

Hello

Lisa - you don't do so much pilates anymore do you? Take it easy before you get back on the bike.

KCM Athletic Conditioning 2 plus some abs. Felt pretty wiped out after. I've done 11 days on the trot, going to do one more tomorrow and then take the weekend off.

Back on the bike today for an easy ride of 19 miles. I'm taking it easy with the higher cadence and just riding. Had to push myself out the door but feel so much better now. DH and Suki went too so a nice little ride. Ronne, no I don't do too much pilates, some of the moves on the reformer are hard for me and I never felt like it did much, but my when I'm tight, if I concentrate on those parts and the things I can do, it's good for me, so I'm glad I have it when I need it. I think I like it for stretching the bits and not for anything that involves too much holding up the head. I'm learning there's a place for everything that I can do and just don't worry about what I can't, right? Wow, you'd think I'm getting wiser in my old age!

Getting new AC today- 94 degrees now, so I hope the install continues to go well. $4k money well spent.
Ronne- glad ghostbusters was good, I plan to go see it, but needed my star trek fix, which I loved.
DD wanted to do some yoga and she pulled out a kundalini dvd and was like, wth kinda weirdo stuff is mom into? She is now back at uni, go gators.
Murphy good job on your ice workout, MTB seems to be a fave. Also there is a relatively recent thread on ICE at VF, ronne with all positive thoughts.
I did KCMs this week...at least three times. Pulled out 4ds for some wts but ended up not doing that. I'll prob go hike or maybe bike this weekend, also tubing on the ichetucknee this week or next.
Lisa, I just found this travel site which seems to be geared toward active geezer nerds, so, me. This is one of the trips. https://www.roadscholar.org/find-an-adventure/9891/To-the-Top-Hiking-Colorado-s-14ers Also happy recent BD
I'm off today but in a state of chemical induced wakefulness and not very productive.

Hi Jody, I've been meaning to look at that exact site for bike trips. I wonder which of the 14ers they climb on that offering. I would die in a sweat puddle without ac in fl!

Hi ladies

Lisa - I love a really good stretch, make me feel so much better. I think it's needed even more now. Did I miss a birthday? Happy birthday anyway!

Jody - enjoy your new cool air. Can't imagine living without it where you are. I'll check that thread out, thanks for telling me. Are both daughters away from home now?

Did KCM Shape Up cardio premix, it did the job. Weather has broken but it's very sticky and raining, not pleasant. No great weekend plans, pop into town to get some bits and pieces and that's about it.

HI girls! at 26 mile ride today with my neighbor. We spent most of the time talking, she's going thru health issues with her Mom (prognosis not good). I guess I'm meant to be with people that need an ear! First my BFF now my neighbor who is turning into a good friend. We had a good time and I think it was good for her (the ride and talk). Jody, I've done all of those!!!!!! Sherman was my favorite! Grays was my first (you never forget your first....lol!). Ronne, I even stretch after every ride, imagine how bad I'd be if I didn't! The ride today had beautiful sunflowers, I'll post a pic, it doesn't do it justice. Sometimes when going down hill and a sunflower bud leaning over would hit you it would kind of hurt! Oh, and I now know why eye protection is mandatory here in CO (helmets are optional), a big dragonfly flew right into my left sunglass lens!
