Which Workout is Your Success Indicator??

JT

Cathlete
My new workout to determine a gain in endurance/fitness is now Athletic Training. The first time I did it, I was just starting to workout again. The second time, I noticed large improvements due to LIS/Spinning/2010 and Shock Cardio Series.
Previously, I used Drill Max as my indicator workout. Prior, after my Cathe collection was getting bigger, Step Blast and the original Boot Camp with Mark and Jai's DH.
With STS, series 3-week 2.

my workout indicator was Imax2. If I could rock it straight through and do everything I knew I was improving...Now, since recovering from injury....I still have not touched Imax 2...it wouldn't be pretty. I don't know if I will have a new Indicator or not..

but good question!

For the LIS, my success indicator will be Turbo Barre (I vow to complete at least 90% of all the reps in those torturous leg lifts! Right now I am up to 50%, so yes I need improvement). In the past, Intensity and 40/20 was the one I needed to complete with little/no modifications and without breaks. Also, I suck at plie jacks (hardcore extreme blasts section from imax3), once I can do all 1,000 of them, I feel confident enough to climb Mount Everest (those KILL me!!).

Those leg lifts are a killer. Turbo Barre was my first one I did for LIS. My reasoning is that Cathe is certified in everything and Brenda is a tri-althlete so it makes me feel better and room to improve.

Athletic Step right now, it used to be RS. AS has so much plyos. But, really, pretty much all the Imaxes. I used to gage it based on this one extremely advanced yoga workout (lots of shoulder stands, rapid breath of fire, and horse stance) and this one hill in my neighborhood. In the beginning, it took me an hour to do that hill, now its down to 30 minutes, but I'm still not up to running it. I can run rolling hills for 26 minutes without stopping but I'm not at the 30 minute mark and I would really like to be able to run a 5k without walking, but my neighborhood is like something out of San Francisco. That said, I guess that means by the time I can run the whole way, I will be really fit!

What a great question. My success indicator has to be Body Max 2 with no breaks.

Beth

I second that! When I was able to do Body Max 2 on an 8 inch step (I started doing it on a 6 in step) and was able do it all the way through with no breaks, I felt like the Queen of Fitness. I felt like I had earned a crown after that accomplishment.

Imax 3 for me. Took me forever to get to a point where I didn't need to stop for air. For the LIS series, it's Afterburn. Fast mountain climbers = thighs on fire!!

Drill Max. Have to be in top cardio + strength to get through that whole thing - w/o skipping any reps :)

Remember MIC?

This was the mother of all "test your endurance" workouts! 1/2 hour of step and 1/2 hour of hilo!!!! Also, the Step, Pump & Jump/Step Blast cardio marathon!!!!! MIC is Maximum Intensity Cardio for all you Cathe newbies.

Great thread!

I would say for a step workout either Lowmax or Imax 2. Whenever I can do either one or both of those workouts in their entirety I know I'm doing something right. They're not Cathe's toughest workouts, per say, but they were some of the first DVDs of hers that I owned. So I guess they have a special place in my heart. They are tough and daunting workouts when I am out of shape and a great success indicator when I'm working on my fitness. ;)

It used to be Imax 2 but since I got Intensity I can get through Imax 2, so Intensity is the new one for me. Whenever I can get through that without a break it feels great

I agree with your take on Intenstity

I also like it 'cause it's easy to learn. Not much of a frustration-learning factor.

I too feel accomplished when I can complete IMAX2 without breaks. Oddly enough this is the very workout I put in when I dont want to work out as well. Then when I get through it, its a bonus!

My challenging video I would say is MIC - I am to the point now where I can get through *until* the endurance challenge at the end (I *think* that's what Cathe calls it). I can do the preceeding stuff without a break, I can finally get through the "intervals" without having to pause the DVD, but I still gotta take a quick breather/extra gulp of air before we start the first round of it!

Speaking of IMAX 2, am I the only one who joins Cathe in her little celbration dance after Interval 9??

Mine is doing all three workouts on Shock Cardio HIIT dvd (minus the two following warm-ups from 40/20 and Pyramid and then end it with the stretch in Pyramid. Whew...burn baby burn.

I would not have thought of that one on my own, of course now, it seems like a challenge!
