Which DVD Do I Buy Next?

Hello:

I have two Cathe DVD's and I love them. I really love the cueing and the way she teaches the moves and then, puts them together. I'm trying to figure out which one(s) to buy next. The two I have are: 1.) Basic Step & Cardio & Weights 2.) Low Impact Step with Total Body Sculpting.
My fitness level is pretty good. I do a lot of cardio and weights at the gym. I'm not interested in resistance training at home since I do at least 2 hours of heavy weights at the gym. (I do a chest press 3 sets of 12 at 112 pounds) I am interested in the cardio DVD's. If the DVD has a cardio workout and a weight workout that is fine, I'll just not do the weight part. I don't want to have to fast forward through the resistance part so I don't want any cross training DVD's.

My trouble is that I haven't done step aerobics in decades so I'm not use to the moves. I have no trouble with the cardio part. The two I have aren't a really challange on my heart. I have learned the steps to both and didn't have a whole lot of trouble. By the way, I've never danced either, if that makes a difference.

Which DVD(s) should I buy next?

For great cardio without needing the step I'd recommend Kick, Punch and Crunch. It's an awesome workout! Another great one is KickMax.
For step cardio I'd recommend Imax, Imax2 and Imax3. The step portions are repeated so they get to be easier fast and the intensity blasts are excellent.

I think that you would transition well to the IMAX2/Cardio & Weights DVD. The premixes would be useful while you are learning the choreography or adjusting to the cardiac challenge. IMAX2 is an interval workout. C&W is a circuit workout but the DVD has an all step premix. I am thinking that you meant that you own the Basic step/Body fusion DVD (not C&W).

Another choice would be the Rhythmic step/IMAX/MIC DVD. RS is a step workout with dancy/athletic choreography but you could work up to it. IMAX is an interval workout, harder than IMAX2. MIC is two workouts in one (you could split them up and you may need to at first). MIC starts off with a HI/Lo workout and goes into a step workout. This choice gives you a lot of options but it does contain older workouts. There are no premixes but Cathe chapters her DVDs well.

KPC/Legs & Glutes is a great DVD choice but it may not contain the most bang for your buck if you don't use L/G. KPC does have some good premix choices so it doesn't hurt to look this one over.

If you want a less expensive option, you could try any of the cardio workouts in the Hardcore Series: IMAX3, Kickmax or LOMAX. You get one workout per DVD with premixes. I like these workouts very much but they wouldn't be my first choice for you.

Thank you all for your help. I think I will get the Lo-Max and the IMAX2 and...actually they all sound good. I will probably end up getting all of them. Variety is nice. I do a lot of working out at the gym but I like to have something to do when the gym is closed. I like to do it in addition to the gym, also, because I do cardio machines and I think the kind of movement you get with aerobics and step aerobics are good for you.

Imax 2 and Lowmax would've been my votes, too! I just love these two workouts.

However, if you're interested in which ones to buy later, may I recommend Step Blast and Rhythmic Step.
 
Since you say you aren't used to the newer moves, I think Low Max and Imax2 are not good choices for you. These two have more dancy choreography that isn't cued terribly well.
In your post you say you have a DVD with Basic Step and Cardio & Weights. Is that really what's on the DVD, or is it Basic Step and Body Fusion?
If you actually have Cardio and Weights, and are fine with that choregraphy, then yes, you could probably handle Low Max and Imax2.
However, if you Have BS and BF, then I would go next to the original IntervalMax, or even better would be the Cardio Hits DVD. This one has moderate choreography, but intense cardio.
