Where do you work out?

Just wondering where does everyone work out. I use to have a small space in the basement working out around all the "Other stuff" that had made it's way to the basement. Just this summer we cleaned out all the "stuff" had a garage sale, made 400$ and I got a small room 10x9 to work out in. My husband put up some plywood on the walls, they were foundation block walls, we painted and had a droped ceiling put in. I just got a large mirror and have a tv with vcr and dvd with it. I feel so lucky to have a ROOM for all for my workout gear. I got a flooring system from Modells.com, a web site I got from someone else off a Cathe post and love it !!
I love having MY special place !!

Thanks,
Annette

I work out in my living room. I live alone so it's not a hardship on anyone else to have weights all over the place, LOL! I've been thinking lately of having some kind of cabinet made that would hold my weights, steps and barbell when I get one. I just shove the coffee table out of the way and have at it.

Fun post!

I workout in an upstairs bedroom I 'took over' when we moved to this house a couple of years ago.

We have a basement and my hubby wanted me to set-up down there, but I was hesitant because of my joints on concrete and I had horrible pictures in my head of the basement flooding and all my stuff gettin' ruined.

When we moved here, this state had been a drought situation for about six years. Last year that changed. The basement did flood 'til we figured out how to solve that problem.

Sheesh, am I glad I insisted on that upper room...even though I creak them floors pretty good sometimes! :p
Oh, yeah...and the big walk in closet already had lots of shelves just waiting for my 300+ video collection!

We have a huge master bedroom so I workout up there. All my fitness accessories (step, dumbbells, medicine balls, stability ball, BOSU, etc.) are lined around the walls in between the bedroom furniture. I have 100+ videos and DVD's in the entertainment center where I have the TV and DVD/VCR combo player and the rest of my videos are in the linen closet (in our room) on shelves where normally you'd put towels! :7 :7

Works for me!

I usually work out in my master bedroom, although occasionally I'll work out in the family room. I use our Xbox for the DVDs in the bedroom, because we only have one DVD player and it's in the family room (the Xbox works fine). My stuff is all in my bedroom. The stability ball, fanny lifter and the step platform are sitting out. My body bars (I have several that I got before getting a barbell) and my barbell are under the bed, along with my weight plates and my heavier dumbells. The other dumbells are under a table. It's a sight, but it works!

Well, when hubbies at work, I work out in the living room, when he's home I work out in our bedroom, have dvd players in both, vcr onlly in living room. So if I want to do PUB or PLB or ME I have to do it when he's gone. He also bought me a medium size workout bench at wallmart for $30.00 :7 ... my equipment is steadily growing ... Rhonda :7

Hi! I workout in an upstairs bedroom that doubles as my daughter's extra room. The second TV and VCR are in there, and all my weights, barbell, plate weights, step and other workout paraphanalia (sp?) are in the closet in another upstairs bedroom (across the hall), which is my "office". That's where the computer is! I should workout downstairs in the family room because there is more room in there, but I'd have to take all the weights and things down the stairs, and then drag them back up! LOL! It's more convenient to take them across the hall, especially *after* MIC, IMAX2, or some other such kick-my-butt workout!! LOL!! Fun thread!!

I workout in the room designated as our "office." We have a desk, computer, and a bookshelf. Other than that it is all my fitness stuff. I have an old Body Shaping Step with extra risers I use for my high step. My Reebok Step, free weights, barbell and plates line up against a wall. Actually my free weights line up against the wall under our rack we dry our clothes on(the clothes that can't go in the drier). I have a little tv/vcr and a DVD player on the top of my bookshelf and my stability ball sits on top of the TV when not in use. It is a small room, but enough for me to workout in. Sometimes I have to turn my step to make the most use of the space depending on the moves...that makes learning any new Cathe workout even more of a challenge!:)

:D We have a huge family room in the basement that I workout in! All my weights, steps and videos are here! I plan on putting some mirrors in also! The only drawback is it has a cushy carpet which is nice for a family room, but for a workout area I would prefer hardwood floors!:)

My living room doubles as a work-out room. It's just me and my husband and we don't mind having all my stuff against the walls of the living room. The coffee table doubles as a bench sometimes, and my step is neatly hidden under the coffee table.

In the next few months we plan to have an interior designer come in, so we'll see what he or she says and if they can come up with any better ideas.

Funny you ask. In July I decided that we have 2 bedrooms upstairs not being used (guest room & kid at college). Our master bedroom is huge, so it contained a treadmill, recumbent bike, stability ball and weights. So when we got the Bowflex, it was time to move out of the bedroom. It took a week to empty the guest/junk room and make a workout room. In went the Bowflex, treadmill, bike, TV and the walk-in closet holds my rug making supplies. Then I started Cathe in late August and there was no room to workout in the workout room! So I'm back in the bedroom and loving it, cuz it's MY room. Cheryl

Hey Annette,

I have a workout room in my basement that my dh made for me. I have free weights a treadmill and a leg extension/leg curl machine and, of course, a step. But I also supplement my workouts at the gym where I work as a PT :)

I workout in a little detached office/shop. It's a 30' x 40' building, divided in half by a wall. He gets one half, I get the other. My half has my computer, books, a workbench, a step, and weights, dumbbells, and an elliptical trainer. I'm hoping for a leg machine soon, too. I think I'll dump the elliptical trainer, then. I don't use it much now that I've started running. It works.

I work out in my living room cum workout room ;-) . As another poster said, I live alone (aside from my cats, who don't care), and there's no one else around to be bothered by the fact that there are weights, a rebounder, a step, a bookshelf dedicated to workout videos and DVD's....

I, also, work out in my basement. We have a huge room (600sq. ft.) which serves as a classroom (I home school) and also my workout room. So, as you can see, I spend alot of time in that room!

We have a cottage and spend most of the summer there - it use to be rougher working out there - since it only had 3 bedrooms and we have 8 children at home, yet. SO, I would workout in the Sun Room - but had to keep all my weights and other equipment in our bedroom - it was a hassle hauling the stuff from one room to the next!

This summer we added on 1300 sq. ft. - Voila! Now, I have my own workout room there too. I absolutely love it - but it is much smaller than at home but it is ample. It makes it much nicer to have a room to keep your STUFF in.

The problem is dragging videos and DVD's back and forth - so I do purchase Cathe's videos and just keep them for my cottage - I hate dragging things back and forth -

I can hardly wait for her new workouts - I was really pumped up thinking how I was going to work these new BLAST Series into a rotation - oh, well, I love the anticipation!

Hi Annette! My workout room is my basement. My tv/vcr combo sit on a table while I have 2 cabinets that hold all of my videos. I have 2 barbell sets w/plates + a EZ curl bar, dumbbells ranging in size from 5 to 40#s. On your left you'll see my adjustable weight bench. I also have a medicine ball & stability ball all of these are placed alongside the table that holds the tv/vcr. I have a large area to workout in. I wish it looked better though. Kathy;(
