When did Running Bras Get so expensive?

I love the ta-ta tamer from lululemon but I realized that I was paying about 2$ per use, as no bra can be washed more than 25 times without losing its stretch. Does anyone know of a good running bra (i.e. no bounce) ithout spending that much?

I can't help you, but, is that the real name of the bra? Ta Ta Tamer - :p Cute!

Congrats on running!!

Again, can't help, but if I understand this correctly....you have to buy a new bra every month?

I LOVE the TaTa Tamer II (yep, that's the name). Mine last longer than 25 washes. I also love Moving Comfort's Juno bra...holds even better than the Tamer, but is harder to put on (goes over the head, which, the larger your bust is, the less comfortable that move is). The Juno also protects against nipple show through like the Tamer but w/o the separate insert, which is nice. The Juno is also like the Tamer in that it holds your breasts separately instead of giving you uniboob. Having said all that, the Juno is about the same price. After much looking, I've concluded that for a bra that holds very firmly, is comfortable and doesn't give me headlights, I have to pay $50-60.

If you find something less expensive that you feel is comparable to the Tamer, please share!

Good luck!

I wear Champion's Double Dry Vent Compression Sports Bra. I love these sports bra and they are only about $24. I have 2 and have had them for a while now and they don't lose their stretch and I have washed them way over 25 times.

25 wash limit? Seriously???? How are you washing them? Delicate cycle, hang to dry. Some of my favorite workout gear I've had for YEARS, countless washes, and they are like new.

I don't have the equipment to require something called the ta-ta tamer, but while I love my more expensive running bras, I am also totally happy with the Champion stuff that Target carries. Works just fine, comes in lots of colors to coordinate with whatever I'm wearing on top/bottom.

This!

I have had some of my fave bras for years (and years). I'm the same too, my equipment doesn't require "taming" ;) I have a few expensive ones, but most of mine came from Marshall's (and Target). They are all different brands and they all wash and wear well, for a long, long time!

Vanity Fair Outlet?

Do you have a VF outlet near you? I was just in there last week and noticed that they have 'no bounce' and all kind of other support type workout bras. They are mostly Champion and other brands that VF makes and were really good prices. I also go to TJ Maxx/Marshalls and find a lot of workout bras there, too. Sometimes they are in the intimates area, sometimes in the activewear section :p

Don't think that any were called TaTa Tamer, though :D:D

My bras last for years! wash in trhe regular load on warm, dry on delicate. I've had some of them 10 years.
I use roadrunnersports.com. sportek. I'll get a link to them if you'd be interested. not as cute a name but they keep the girls in place and cost more like $30, although I haven't priced any recently.
I am a D, and only buy over-the-head styles. back hooks annoy me. either I can't hook them or unhook them, or they dig into my back constantly.

I hate back hooks too. I love some of the really cute strappy bras and have a lot of them, but if I'm going to be doing ab work on my back, I have to consider which bra I'm wearing. I hate feeling something on my back.

Also, I had to laugh since mine are all also over-the-head styles, but I step into all my workout bras and pull them up over my hips. It is so much easier, especially when trying to take a sweaty one off!

Thanks everyone for the great advice! I should probably line dry and everything would last longer. I never wear workout clothes more than once without washing or I get rashes.
Trail doggie thanks for the roadrunner site. That had everything and I am going to try the moving comfort and the Sportek.

What is VF?

"pull them up over my hips" that made me laugh

I almost always put them on overhead, even reg. ones with hooks. It's just easier.
I never thought of that one. I do sometimes put my skirts on the other way, head first, but I can honestly say I'll never be able to pull my bras on feet first. Way too much equipment on the bottom. I'm at peace with it. It just will never happen, lol.

My friend who has a bra shop has lectured me endlessly:
1. use "forever new" wash or other citric acid base (not zero), you can make your own
2. only hand wash or hand wash cycle on HE machine
3. always hang to dry
and VERY important 4. wash right away! sweat breaks down bras.

I hope this helps and doesn't sound cranky. I have serious "equipment" and only use the enell, I live in the boonies and haven't found another as good.
(34DDD) I still only use them for a year before getting rid of them (@ $125/each it sucks).
looked into the CWX? something like that but couldn't find them here and I must try on first. such a bummer.

I had to smile also at "pull them up over my hips"!

After being stuck and had to call for HELP to get out of a soaked over the head bra -- never again! :p:eek::p I can deal with the hooks.

Vanity Fair

Yep - Jann was right - it was in the title so I felt free to acronymize (and make up words :)) VF makes Lee, Wrangler, Lily of France, Best Form, Vassarette, Wrangler, North Face, Nautica - all kinds of stuff. Their outlets are all over the place in the US:

Buy Womens R GEAR Star Performer Sportek C/D Sports Bra at Road Runner Sports

this is a link to the sportek bra. this one is a c/d another number is a/b. it's a simple over the head style with quite powerful spandex. it does give a uniboob look but I work out at home and don't really care as long as they stay non bouncy. I am not a heavy sweat person no matter how hard I work, so maybe that's why they hold up so long for me.

monkeydoodle, I don't think there's room for 3 D's in these. DD, maybe. depends on how things are distributed I guess.

I get years of use out of one, but I have at least 6 so they don't get worn constantly. I wash warm, dry in dryer on gentle.

I am still laughing about getting ANY bra up over my hips!!!! NOT going to happen in this lifetime!

roadrunner sports is a good place to shop for all kinds of fitness gear. very competitive prices . I have bought shoes, socks, pants, tights, exercise capris, shorts etc. over many years and have been happy with their service, products and pricing.
