What's your favorite smell?

honeysuckle.

My boys smell. When I kiss them goodnight and tuck them in, I cannot get enough of their smell. They once asked me why and I just told them I was making a memory.

COFFEE - love it and drinking it too!

My husband right after he showers.

I love the smell of cut grass and puppy's breath. Too bad it that breath doesn't continue smelling like that into adulthood. :p

The smell of freshly roasted coffee beans (my husband roasts beans at home), but that combined with hot sizzling bacon on a Sunday morning is heavenly.

Mmmmm! I have to steal alot of your favorites because I kept nodding and remembering as I read the posts! Lilacs, my mother loved them and we had them all around our house when I was small. Freshly ground coffee, cut grass, standing outside when it's crisp and cold and smelling someone's fire. Babies, I can't wait to smell a grandchild! Ok, I CAN wait; my daughters are teenagers! Won't it be lovely to sniff that baby and to give it back when it DOESN'T smell so great? LOL!

I just had a dinner table discussion about smell and memory with my kids. Not only do smell trigger memories, memories can trigger smells! Smells go directly to the cerebral cortex unlike any other sense and it's very powerful. It's funny how some people love what could be odd smells, like gas and rubbing alcohol to others. I like both of those too. I can distinctly remember the smell of both my grandmother's houses and my husband just asked me why I was smiling. I was thinking aoubt lilacs which leads me to my memories of my mother when I was small and that's all good!
Thanks for such a great question, Jes!
