What's wrong with me???

I had a really crappy day at work today. Actually, it’s been a pretty crappy couple of weeks. Needless to say, I’ve been stressed. Anyway, I worked late again tonight and stopped at the grocery store on my way home. Big mistake! I bought this bar of Endangered Species 88% Chocolate and ate the ENTIRE bar!!! It was huge! I figured it out and it came out to be like 450 calories and 36 grams of fat. What was I thinking? That’s like 70 calories shy of what I burned doing Kick, Punch and Crunch this morning. Oh well, tomorrow’s a new day. I knew I could come hear and vent to you ladies because you understand bad days like this.

Ya know what....if you don't make a habit of it, every now and then its one of those episodes you should relish. There have been those times when I get the beautiful chocolate cookie tin with the layers, if you know what I'm talking about...and I proceed to wipe out the first tier. I also read it somewhere, I'm thinking Barardi, who said if you can get back to a hard cardio session the next day, the fat will metabolize before it sets up *shop*.

Even Rachel Cosgrove, who's essentially following Berardi's Precision Nutrition prescription (they all read the same scientific studies), follows this: Essentially, you can cheat 10% of the time and those cheats will not negatively impact your results. If, as Berardi advises, you eat 6 small meals/7 days per week you can ingest a "cheat meal" or "treat" three times during the week (as long as that meal or treat doesn't snowball into more than A meal or A treat). And on PN, you can make your cheat anything you want. I was telling a co-worker that only 3 cheats in 42 meals didn't sound like much leeway to which she replied "You get to cheat (nearly) every other day! I could do that" I thought 'Hmmmmm.'

So calm down. You got your cheat meal, be good tomorrow, then cheat again the next day :D:D:D.

P.S. I'm assuming you're eating a high protein diet, lots of vegetables (the carbs don't count toward your carb total in PN) and all the rest of your carbs only after working out...

Did you break the bar into pieces first? That makes the calories leak out I believe! Also next time, if you really want to have remorse, dip it in crunchy peanut butter.......we've all been there! (after workout yesterday, a liter of water, homemade yogurt with fruit...still starved, a "bite" of bagel turned into massive bagel binge....oh well..........

Yesterday was that kind of day for me too- we all do it. Reading this made me feel better, too. :) I did KP&C this morning and worked HARD. It's OK.

I agree....don't sweat it. We all have days like this (or uh, weeks, in my case.) Like you said, tomorrow is a new day! Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on....

I've had a roll of bad eating in the last week too... Not sure what's going on, but I've not been able to take the feed bag off! I swear that part of it has to do w/ the daylight savings time!! ( not sure how, but that's my excuse!)

Anyways, today is back on the wagon.. I'm trying to drink more water today to flush out the junk and get back to eating clean.

Sometimes after a binge of not eating clean, you will reset your metabolism, plus, for me, it scares me enough to motivate back into eating better, which will hopefully be the case!

Take care, Lynn M.

Oh, good to know. Such a simple little tip to help me out. Does this work with Hershey bars also???

Hershey bars are tricky. Breaking along the provided lines does not let the calories out. You have to break into the middle of a piece to the let the calories out.;)

Don't beat yourself up!!! It would be a double whammy if you didn't enjoy your special treat! You do not do this often, so when you do...relish in the taste and pleasure of the food. Give yourself a much needed break and think about how good it tasted...and, then give yourself a great workout!

It happens to us all, don't beat yourself up! I've been known to consume an entire bag of peanut butter M&Ms in a single sitting.

And Friday nights--my binge night--I eat an entire pizza. All 8 slices. This is not a Domino's sized pizza, this is a real super-sized Jersey pizza. I never feel guilty. :)

You guys make me feel so much better! You're right, it doesn't happen all the time so I won't let it get to me.

Had I known breaking the bar into pieces releases the calories, I would have eaten two!

I cut loose this week. Normally I'm happy as a clam following along with whatever program I've created for myself, but we've had some family stuff going on, and the last thing I wanted to do was measure and count my food.

I've noticed that my Cheat meals/days often work out for me. I get it out of my system, and then I'm inspired to get back on track. So look at it that way ~ you're re-inspiring yourself! :)
