What was your favorite toy as a child?

I was asked that question today and couldn't remember the name so I googled "lemon toy" and found it was called the "Lemon Twist". I found it on this neat website that has all kinds of vintage toys. Remember Rock'em Sock'em Robots! LOL

Boy, it sure brings back memories looking at them! FYI...under several toys you will find an icon with a tv and 2 kids in front of it, click the icon and you can watch the commercial for that particular toy!

Have fun strolling down memory lane! And don't forget to share YOUR favorite!

I loved Barbie dolls, but I was kind of a tomboy, so my Barbies didn't get married (like my friends' Barbies did). Instead they went exploring in the creek by our house or had other fun outdoor adventures. Also, I had Barbie & The Rockers (at least her and a couple of Rockers) so they put on rock concerts.

I also loved my Miss Piggy puppet and was always trying to get someone watch me put on a puppet show with her and some stuffed animals (I'd put a blanket over the piano bench and crouch behind it to do the show).

I was born in 1979 so I couldn't find any 80's toys on that site.

I remember playing with Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

I had a doll called Baby Feel So Real, she was really heavy (or at least felt like she was), she was filled with some sort of gel. I remember cutting her open to see what the heck she was made of. My mom was not happy about that.

I also had a fisher price doll house that I really loved. I can't believe that my mom got rid of it.

And I remember wanting the doll, Pretty Cut & Grow. Her hair was made out of yarn and you could cut it. I think you could by replacement hair just in case you cut it all off. Did anyone have her????

I maybe showing my age but my fav toys was Cher, the doll with long hair and the game operation. I still remember those commericals.

Gosh..there are so many. I remember playing with legos. We had these square, flat lego boards. We would construct a house and furniture with the legos and use these 2 little rubber pigs (that we got at the dentist's office) as mothers. Since we didn't have that many rubber pigs, we made them single mothers that worked at home typing books. I guess that was pretty revolutionary for the early 1970's.

We also had a thing that made rubber flowers and insects. It was some kind of liquid that you put into molds, then you would "bake" them and you have all kinds of rubbery flowers. I'm not explaining it very well but we played with it all the time.

What a nice trip down memory lane. I had a great childhood. :)

Marble Mustang. The horse your could bounce on and it would move. I always wanted one, but never got one. When Sit N Spin came out, I wanted one of those too, but I was too old by then. And I loved the original Weebles (Weebles Wobble, but they don't fall down). What about Shrinky Dinks? Of my gosh I think I could go on and on.

My barbies, hands down. I would spend hours playing with them...that is until my older brother thought I should be over them & took a steak knife to the poor things. Sigh.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

Ugh, older brothers can be such a pain. Some of mine managed to survive childhood and are in a suitcase in the attic. :D Also, my mother-in-law gave me a Pink & Pretty Barbie still in the box a few years ago. I'd gotten one way back in 1981 just like it. Here's what it's like: http://cgi.ebay.com/1981-MATTEL-PIN...oryZ15953QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem?refid=store Wow great price on that thing--maybe I should think about eBaying it if I'm ever hard up for cash.

Each time I read a post I find myself saying "Oh yeah, I forgot about that one!"

It's neat hearing the stories behind your favorite toy(s) too! :7

My Barbie Dolls (cars, houses, pools, airplanes) were #1

but the Easy Bake Oven was 2nd .. My DB and I LIVED off of those cakes!!

I also had a rock tumbler - you put regular stones /rocks in it and it tumbled them and made them smooth and shiny .. I thought I was creating JEWELS!! LOL

OH .. and lets not forget the slinky, and Disney view finder, and silly putty!!:7

I always wanted an Easy Bake Oven. When I asked my mom for one, she said we already had an oven but I really wanted the little small cakes.

I also wanted a lite brite but I never got one of those either.

<< also wanted a lite brite but I never got one of those either>>

ooooh .. I forgot about those!! WOW .. I had one and yeah .. I LOVED it .. thought I was an artist!!

.. think my mother got me anything that would keep me occupied for long lengths of time!!! LOL

Some of these toys are a little before my time, but man I LOVED my Lite Brite! I also loved My Little Ponies - and I still do (I have my childhood collection still). I also had quite the collection of Matchbox cars and MicroMachines (remember the really fast-talking dude on the commercials???). And I loved Legos and Tinkertoys and Construx. Man, so many great toy memories! :D

I loved LiteBrite too!! I played a lot of GI JOes and HeMan with my brother.

PogoBall

The inflatable thing you could never knock over. It had a weight at the bottom and would pop up every time you punched it. Boy, do I need one of those for days like today. Oh well, I guess that's what I have KickMax for!:) }(
