I do a couple hours at a shot in the morning on the weekends, but I have to split the cardio & weight training during the week. So I usually get up early to do the cardio & hit the gym at night for weights.

I have noticed, however, that I feel much stronger in the morning. I had an extra day off last week & did my usual evening weight workout in the morning, & I was lifting quite a bit more. I guess it's just all the energy a typical day at work sucks out of me before I can make my way to the gym.

I work out of the house a couple of days a week. On those days and on weekends, I work out in the early afternoon (around lunchtime). Anything much later and I will almost always miss the workout, which really makes me ticked off at myself! :)

The days I am in the office, I use the company gym and am in by 6. Company gyms can be really great because they are generally not that crowded, particularly in the morning. I always do weights first in the gym (generally PUB-style) because I feel really strong first thing.

Cheers,
Marie

Wendymin,
If exercising in the morning would cause you to get less sleep, then I think sleep is more important. I truly believe that getting enough sleep is one of the most important factors in being healthy, and is much too often overlooked.

I exercise in the evenings, except on weekends where I prefer the afternoon.

Hi all,

I get up at 4:50 work on school work for an hour then workout from 6:10-almost 7:30 depending on the day. I leave for work by 8. I always get my priorities out of the way before anything else.

I work out in the early morning and evening. I get up at 4 and am running or doing a Cathe vid/dvd. Then, 12 hours later I do something again. I know it's extreme, but hey, I LOVE TO EAT!!!!!!!;)

I get up at 4:00 in the morning sometimes 5:00 although the earlier the better in order to get it finished without interruption. I can concentrate more on my exercises without my family asking things that they believe are extremely urgent at the time. Although 9 times out of 10 it's not, or they could have figured out themselves. Anyway although I'm tired thats the best time for me.

Am the same way, Amy, though not at 4 a.m.! Am up at 6:30, do cardio for an hour; do weights when I get home from work at about 7:30. I have to admire all the early risers here--I used to get up at 4:30 to exercise when I had a job with a long commute, and it was SO hard! Didn't help that I wouldn't get home again until 7:30 the earliest--I was exhausted all the time. Even 6:30 is hard for me in the dead of winter. I need to get one of those dawn clocks.

Mon - Fri working out by 4:30am. If I didn't do it before work it wouldn't get done - I've tried and always failed.

Saturday's a little later like around 7:00am

I work out in the evening, usually at about 8pm. On the weekends, I usually work out late afternoon. I can't work out in the morning..I have less strength, flexibility and endurance early in the morning and I feel sick if I attempt strenous exercise in the am.

I have worked out in the am for quite a few years. Usually around 5-6 am. Before this it was am and pm and before that it was around 10 pm -12 pm. I like morning so much better. Mostly I like the time of day where there is no phone calls, or people popping in on me.

Wow! There sure are a lot of morning people on this board! I know some people just rise naturally in the morning and don't seem to require much sleep. I've always wanted to be like that, but never was. Morning is my absolute worst time of day. I sleep long hours and wake up very slowly and groggily. I'm not really energetic until about 1 in the afternoon! I think it's all in the genes. I'm like my Dad in this way, and my brothers are early risers like my Mom.

What ever my mood is that day. I would have to say 50% of the time I work out in the am/afternoon and other half would be evenings!
