What kind of abs are in ME?

I am about to order BC/ME and i am wondering what kind of ab work is in ME. Is the emphasis more on crunches or planks? thanks!

Jes, you have to get this workout dvd. The ME abs are great. I think there are more crunches. You have intense abs exercises in bootcamp too. The dvd has lot of premixes. For example you can find a premix of bootcamp with the cardio and lower body, a premix with cardio and upper body, all cardio, all except core work, all the core work etc. I really love the upper body split of ME. It is fantastic.

I recall crunch-type work incorporating the medicine ball, and side plank work. I don't have the DVD, only VHS, so don't do the ab work outside the main workout. But I have notes that say it's 9.5 minutes and I recall it being a good ab workout.

Jes, it's her best core workout! There are no planks (yay!), but you use an 8lb medicine ball (a dumbell can be substituted; for someone new to these types of exercises, you can get a great workout even without a weight), and do a bit of crunches, and a whole bunch of other creative core exercises. It's not the boring old crunch standards that used to be so popular. This is a great core workout. BC's core work is very similar, possibly a tad harder, and does have some plank work. When I want to really work my core, these are the two I go for. PUB and CW core from the IS are also extremely effective.

I agree with Sandra - the abs on ME and BC are challenging. BC uses the med ball more, ME is more crunches. I think ME is one of Cathe's most challenging ab segments!

FUN abs! Cathe does less crunches these days. When she tacks abs on to one of her non-abs workouts in the rotations, I always do one that involves planks or the stability ball. Isn't ME the one where you do the "walking" thing that makes you fall on your face?

Oops! Nevermind...I don't even have ME.:D I just taped that one off of FitTV and the abs aren't included. So ignore my dumb post.

FYI, Donna,

The "walking" thing that you are referring to is the walking planks in Cardio and Weights. I have lots of trouble getting my balance right on those too!!

I think Cathe says something to the effect of "Are you rolling all over the floor, yet?!"

Take care,

Sandra S.

ME abs are the best I think, it is my favorite one to do. Very challenging, excellent core workout. The abs in Bootcamp are good as well.

I always make a sour face in this one during abs - just when you think you're finally done she throws in something else! ;)

Great, my abs need all the "something else" they can get! I appreciate all the replys and you will all be thrilled to know i ordered it this morning!!
