What is up with all these high heels?

Why are all the dress shoes suddenly having heels that look like stilts?
I have looked everywhere from Chadwicks to Spiegel to JC Penney and all of the dress shoes have heels at least 3 inches high - some are higher!

Does anyone really wear these anymore?
And why are shoe manufacturers suddenly trying to push them on us?

Hell yeah, I wear those heels! For lower but stylish try Naturalizer. They are very comfy too.

I think you can blame the latest trend on Christian Louboutin and Hollywood.
Almost all the stars wear them, including Oprah.

I just don't see how anybody can wear them! I wore heels a couple of weeks ago to a meeting - first time in heels in a while since I work at home - and by the end of the day I had blisters on the tops of all my toes!

I can't wear them either! I'm all about comfort. ;)

I wear heels but go for the thicker heel. I can not do the spike thing. They are really cute but totally uncomfortable (for me). My boss wears them all day, every day and has no problem...although she does take her shoes off in the afternoon in the office:confused:.

Most of my shoes have 3 inch heels. They're comfy if they fit right. More rounded toes are more comfy and easier to walk in than those with extra pointy toes. Flat shoes make me feel short (I'm 5'8" not short) or that my pants hang funny. Heels also make me look thinner, and I feel taller and more confident. My favorite boots are about 4 inches, and I could run for miles in those babies. Way flat shoes like flip flops and sandals hurt my back after too long, and kitten heel KILL my knees - I don't know why. Bring on the towering shoes!!!!

Nan

PS. Even though I am a shoe lover/hoarder, I actually prefer to go barefoot or socks when I can

I love heels - wear them every day - have very few pairs of shoes that are under 3" - I have some stilletos but I like stacked heels best -- I feel short too when I wear flats (and I'm 5'8 myself) so it's weird - my only flat shoes are the ones I work out in and I have a pair of ballet slippers but I rarely wear them.

Ditto what the last two posters said- I too am 5'8" ( well 5'7 3/4") and while I do not always where 3" heels I generally wear 2 3/4" heels at least 3x week to work. I feel tall and thinner in them too. Makes suit pants hang wonderfully- otherwise I feel short and dumpy. LOL!!

Also a fan of the 3-4 inch heels!! I just bought an awesome pair for this tuxedo dress I have..... I try and just wear them when I won't be doing too much walking. However, I am not 5'8!! I am only 5'1...so the extra height is worth a bit of discomfort!! ;)

I love high heels. I have a job that is more jeans and flats so on the weekends I enjoy getting dressed up. I am 5 7 but have shorter legs so I like the illusion they create.

Another heel fan here! The only flats I own are workout shoes and flip flops. I just love what the heels do for my legs and posture! The only problem that I have is that I feel like a monster when I wear them! I'm 5'8" so with heels I tower over everyone at work!! And my DF is also 5'8" so I will NOT be wearing heels for the wedding, lol!

Although I must agree that I have been seeing the *really* tall heels a lot lately, even in places like Target and Kohl's!! There is no way I could wear those, I'd look like the jolly green giant!!

I love em. I have all kinds of heels. Stilettos and the thicker heels.
If I am not in sneakers, I am in heels. I bought a really cute pair of Tory Burch looking shoes last year and they hurt so bad. I cannot do the flats. Plus I am short. 5'4 so I like a lil heel. It's sexay...:D

If you wear the right heels, they can be quite comfortable.
I'm a recent convert. I'm only 5'2", so heels are a nice boost to make me feel like a grown up. :)
But I have EXTREMELY sensitive balls of my feet. Even a 2" heel KILLS me after only a few minutes wearing them. So I always figured I was doomed to skip heels.

But then! My mom introduced me to the Sofft brand. Holy cow! These are like walking on pillows! In these shoes I can wear 3 and 3.5" heels and walk miles in them with no problem whatsoever! I also just purchased my first pair of Cole Haan's that have the Nike Air insoles in them. Same thing, they are mega comfortable and can go for miles. (And the nice thing about the Cole Haans, is that when you wear them out, they have a refurb service that will rebuild the shoe for you, so you can literally wear them forever.)

These brands are more expensive, of course. But I have definitely learned that you get what you pay for in this category!

I love heels, too! Although, I do sometimes feel out of place when I go to the girls' school and no one is wearing heels of any height. I get over it though, especially when I get home and my husband says, "WOW!" I found really cute, inexpensive ones at www.gojane.com. It's a website geared towards junior clothing, but the shoes are hot! I do like ballet flats with skinny jeans, but they do tend to hurt my feet, too.

I love love love heels. Especially boots with heels. My fave pair are skinny and high and they are the most comfy things ever. I HATE ballet flats. They absolutely kill my feet.
