What is the heaviest Cathe uses on her Barbell ?

Cathlete
I am ordering my Troy Lite Bar today and I can't decide if I need to buy more weight to go on it or not. I think I will buy an extra set of clips so I can add weight faster w/o taking others off, this was a suggestion from another cathe user - thanks.

But I am thinking 40 total pounds should be enough for me. How much weight does Cathe use at the heaviest ? Not that I am ready for that or who knows if I will ever match her weights - i am just trying to use it as a guideline to what I should buy for extra plates as the shipping is cheaper to order now. I am not trying to bulk up at all - just get a nice tone body :)

Thanks!

Laura =)

In Slow and Heavy I think she has 50 pounds on for "I think" legs. But don't quote me on that. I don't know about the Pyramids or Body Blast series. I haven't seen her in PS or S&H go any heavier than 50 that she tells us about.

I personally go 55 or 60 on squats but even with a troy lite bar I think you can go up to 80 so that would be enough for me. I have regular barbell that weighs 15 pounds by itself.

Hope that helps you some!

laura:

when I was first buying my troy Lite I asked Cathe about this question of how much weight to buy and she said to me go for the full 60 or 70 pounds in weight because this is an investment for life or at least a very long time and you will work up to being able to use it, so get it!

I got 60 pounds worth and have used all 55 pounds so far. My goal this year is to max out at the 60 pound mark on Slow & Heavy.

Laura,
I am so happy you have posting a lot of barbell questions :) I have been reading them ALL!!

Clare,
I am glad you posted about ordering the extra weights!(I know I would prob. just order 1.25 set extra)Can you tell me what plates you ordered extra? I am not sure because I am not real strong. Currently I am only using 5-8-10 dumbells. I cannot imagine 55lbs:eek: WAY to go!!

Thanks,
~Nicole

Laura if it helps, I have a 110 lbs. barbell. It was cheap like $44 at Dick's Sporting Goods. More than I'll ever use? Probably but I figured if DH ever decides to lift weights he can use it too. :)

Hi Laura,

Congratulations on your success in fitness! Your pictures are an inspiration to me and many others I'm sure :)

Thanks also for the barbell threads and to those who have shared so much information :)

Nicole:

I can't remember exactly what the Troy Lite comes with as a set, but I have, 2 * 10 pounds plates, 2 * 7.5 pound plates, 2 * 5 pound plates and 2 * 2.5 pound plates. Plus the bar itself at 5 pounds so I can make any weight up to 60 pounds. I think then I must have bought the set of 10 pound plates as an extra. I got it all at fitnessfirst.com or fitness1st.com whichever is the correct spelling of their website address.

The Troy lite comes with 2, 7.5# plates, two 2.5# plates and 4 (I think!) 5# plates. You can order 10# and 1.25# plates separately.

And Thank you to EVERYONE who replied :) I just LOVE this site!! I love how everyone is so supportive and willing to share!!
