What do you know about MAC cosmetics?

I love my make-up artist and his make-up, which is called Trucco, but I seem to be allergic to it. I woke up this morning with my eyelids blown up to about four times their usual size. My make-up artist mentioned that he sometimes uses MAC for people with sensitive skin. There is a MAC cosmetics store here in my neighborhood, so I thought I might try it. Any people with sensitive skin who have tried MAC products?

Today would be the perfect day for me to go over there, so let me know if anyone has any experience with these products. Thanks!

I don't have sensitive skin but I used to love their pencils and lipsticks. Haven't bought much of anything lately- but watch out if you've got long hair and use Lip Glass. It's stick-eeee.

Go over and try it out!! :* (my impression of Nancy after trying on all the lipsticks...)

I agree about the Lip Glass! I had to stop using it because it caught my hair like a flytrap!

Hi Nancy,

I use MAC cosmetics and I have sensitive skin. I absolutely love the foundation and powder! I don't use blush and I'm minimal on eye make-up so what goes directly on my skin is key. I have yet to try anything else from their line because I want to use up what I have left of my Clinique first. Can't wait to try MAC lipstick!

Anyway, I find I get great coverage without looking "made-up" at all. Can't say enough good things about MAC.

This is probably too late at this point, but maybe you can get them to give you samples to try at home? That way you test the products for a day or two and see if you react to them. Just a thought.

Anyhow, I don't get puffy eyes from makeup, but I do get red, flakey patches on my lids if I use powder eyeshadow. I've been using Mac cream eyeshadow for almost a year now, plus one of their powder/foundation combos and also lipstick--no problems at all. Good luck!

I have sensitive skin and I LOVE MAC and Bare Escentuals. Both are excellent choices. They can be quite pricey. If you get BE at QVC, you can save some, but MAC is quite expensive and everything always comes separate.....no kits like BE has. I also use Aromaleigh and it is good for sensitive skin also.

Okay, I had my MAC makeover and wound up buying a lot of stuff. The salesperson told me that it's the SPF in my current foundation that is driving my skin crazy. She recognized the red irritations on my skin and said she had the same thing. That was VERY helpful. So I bought their moisturizer and foundation. She said my blush was a little too yellow for my skin tone, so I bought a pinker blush too. Then of course I had to get the eye shadow colors.....etc.

Fortunately, I didn't need to buy any brushes, since she said I already have everything I need. That saved a bundle. For some reason, we couldn't find a lip color that looked better on me than my current lipstick, so I didn't get any lipstick.

I'll post a pic or two in a few minutes.

Thanks for encouraging me! I'm glad I went.

Thanks for the update, Nancy!!! I love it when people buy new stuff- especially makeup!! I hope it works for you.

I would go for a new lipstick EVERY time. It's terrible- I have so many that are the same color, but I don't care- I love the glosses, etc. I don't even WEAR lipstick!!! :D But I'm ready anyway...

What kinds of eye colors?

Amy, you buy lots of lipstick but don't wear any?? Huh??? Dumb question, but why do you buy something you don't like to wear?

I LOVE to wear it, absolutely love to, it's just pretty rare that I even wear makeup. I realized that about 1-2 years ago and have pretty much stopped spending that money. Tried to stop, at least. ;) All my face and eye stuff is Bare Escuentuals and I'll never run out of that- I use so little it will last forever.

I'm usually late whenever I leave my house, LOL. And I'm always drinking out of a water bottle and I hate that lipstick ring.

I have only bought one gloss in the past year, so I'm definitely slowing down. But it's the thing that gets me to all the makeup counters... :* (my impression of ME now)

Okay, here's a pic. Don't know how well you can see the make-up though.

You get more adorable all the time. I love your makeup, it looks like you are a fresh-faced 30 yr old that isn't wearing any makeup. Wow.

You take great pics Nancy. I can see the rosiness in your cheeks. I also agree that lipstick suits you.

Liane, I knew I liked you, but now I think I love you. Many thanks for such ego-inspiring compliments!

Marla, as far as taking great pics, ummmm, it only took my DH about 12 pictures until he got to that one. LOL. :+

Amy, the eye colors are very natural brown tones. I think the names were cork, bamboo and vanilla. I'm really liking the colors. They have a few different foundations, but the one I got is called StudioTech. So far, MAC gets my recommendation for people with sensitive skin.

Nancy,

You look great! I'm so glad that MAC has worked out for you. I'm worried that when the time comes to buy new make-up, I won't be able to resist buying the "extras". Glad you had a good time! I love buying makeup. And I'll have to remember those colors. They look really pretty!
