What do y'all do for a living?

Went to college for surveying and civil engineering and happily ended up homeschooling my children while managing my home.

It's interesting reading what everyone does. I appreciate all the jobs everyone does!

WOW is right! ALl these interesting people, lives, hobbies, careers! I have to admit I'm a bit jealous of the variety!

I'm currently a SAHM. My younger son will be in 1st grade (full time) next year, so we'll see where I'll be in a year. Until then....it's cooking, cleaning, child-rearing, and disciplining for me! I DO SO LOVE IT THOUGH! I'm not complaining at all.

As for what I want to be when I grow up.....not sure! LOL

I'm a SAHM since 2001, when my daughter was born. Prior I worked as a secretary for a large archetecture firm. Also, I'm a part-time secretary treasurer for the local government.

Right now I'm a SAHM to my almost 3 yr old son. Professionally, I am a clinical social worker specializing in families and children. I plan to get back into the field once my son is school age.

Brian: Peter, those are Cheerios.

Everyone seems to have such interesting careers! I am mother of 3 young children and run a daycare out of my home. Very fulfilling to watch the children grow and learn, but also very stressful in a non-office work kind of way! Probably I will go back to work when all my kids are in school, tho not sure doing what!

WOW .. very interesting and some super smart fit ladies here!!

.. I work in a large utility company .. I multi-task all day .. but work mainly in collections, bankrupties, repossessions, and small claims ..

.. yeah .. I am that mean lady .. LOL .. I get fussed at (cussed out) all day long . . and have heard every sad story out there .. kinda makes you a little hard shelled .. (and breaks my heart when I really know they don't have the money or any other recourse)...

I am also a certified fitness instructor .. so after a hard day I get to go take it out on my class ... }( }( }(

This is a pretty interesting topic to find out about people.

I'm an office manager aka the do everything from accounting to hr to shopping for the business girl. I'm fortunate to be able to make my own schedule though so I love it. I can even work from home when I want to.

Prior to this when my kids were not of school age, I was a SAHM. I did work very part-time where I'm at now though for sanity's sake when I was a mostly SAHM.

Great question!

I'm a RN/Office manager in a large pediatric practice in south Florida. We have 14 providers (pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners) working in 3 locations. Before this position, I was a pedi hospital nurse mostly in large medical centers. I was also a traveling nurse for awhile and that was lots of fun!

I've enjoyed reading this thread.

Tracey M! Wow I was in database marketing field for YEARS! I may PM you!

Currently I'm a program manager/product manager at a software start up!

Fun topic!

I've been a SAHM for 13 years who just went back to work part time in late 2006. My experience prior to kids was in retail (manager for Limited, Inc.) and a great position fell into my lap. My mother is managing a beautiful fine stationary, invitations and gift store that opened in September and asked me to come on board. I can work when my kids are in school, go on vacation or have flexibilty when needed, get to socialize with fun people all day (people are almost always happy when searching for party invitations, wedding invitations or stationary) and I get to spend lots of time with my Mom, whom I adore:) :) . Best of both worlds!!!

I'm a lawyer in a small town in New England. I used to work in Miami for a top notch law firm doing commercial litigation. DH (also a lawyer) wanted to semi-retired so we moved a couple of years ago. I took a 1 1/2 year hiatus and now I work 4 days a week for a general litigation law office with two other lawyers where I actually get to meet my clients, look them in the eye and accept their thanks when I can help them out. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm a Member Service Rep/IRA Specialist for a large credit union in West MI. Used to be Certifed Aerobics Instructor through ACE as a hobby.

I am a Human Resources Manager for a 200 employee manufacturer of corrugated boxes. Been there for 8 years. Have an accounting degree but they needed HR so to a new career I went.

So happy to see so many of you SAHM's. I was fortunate enough to do that for nearly 15 years and was never bored. So much fun to watch my children and others grow up and I also enjoyed being there for the children whose parents were at work. (I practically lived at the elementary school for nearly 10 years).

I'm a freelance certified court reporter. Since having my third child in May 2006, I guess I consider myself a part-time SAHM mom, too! I try to work only 2-3 afternoons a week so I can enjoy my third (and last) baby!;-)
