I don't diet and never will so I clicked "Other." I just eat healthy foods and exercise. I have dieted in the past but didn't lose much weight. For me, exercise is the key and dieting is not.

Hi Lisa! I would fall into the same category as you. Diets for me are too restrictive and they make me want to eat the food I am not supposed to eat even more. It would be nearly impossible for me to do them long term. I try to do everything in moderation and watch what I eat and keep with my exercise program.

I basically follow the Zone which talks about food choices in terms of best, better, or worse sources of either carbs, protein, or fat. So I don't really restrict myself, just eat things in balance and work out. It's worked for me for over 7 years now.

If you all have been on cathe.com any time at all, I guess you already know I'm on physiquetransformation.com. Previously, I was on Weight Watchers. I tried Atkins, briefly, but I'm a carbaholic. Couldn't live without 'em.

x( I don't diet either! It is too restricting and life is too short! I watch my fat grams and exercise 5 to 6 times a week for an hour. I take the foods I like and lower the fat content, and snack on low fat snacks.:)

I just eat very clean and watch portion size. I make sure I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Lately I eat more protein and less carbs, like everyone else :p but I dont follow any diets in particular. Too tedious. I've been doing this so long, I like to just eat what's in season, what's in the refrigerator, etc. I don't have a lot of issues with food cravings or forbidden foods. I just don't eat them or crave them, but I think that comes with years of avoiding them. Like smoking or alcohol, the cravings eventually just don't come.

I'm on the Seafood Diet. I see food and I eat it. :)

Seriously, I've never been on a diet, I just eat in moderation.

Joanne

It's the first time I tried to post a smiley face but it came up an X. Oh well.

I hate the sound of "being on a diet", but I would say I follow BFL princples. (Yes I know it really is the same thing just sounds better <G>). At 37 1/2 I'm still in the same size clothes I was in higih school and feel good about how I look. Plus look out free day, nothing is off limits. I also spend 1/2 the time exercising as I did with previous plans and am getting better results.

I'm not on a diet so to speak either - I'm vegan so some might consider that a diet but for me it's a way of life. I watch what I eat - meaning, I take care not to eat too many breads/carbs and go easy on oils. Lots fruits, veggies, nuts/seeds, beans, and make sure to get in enough protein! :)

I, too, don't follow any rules in particular. I am very lucky in the sense that I was raised in a home where healthy eating habits are just the way of life. No cakes, cookies, or much high-fat, high-calorie anything. My dad hates sweets, and my mom just tries to be healthy. I'm not by any means perfect, but I eat healthfully about 80 to 90 percent of the day. Then, if I break down and need a little candy or a few chips, I don't feel bad. The worst part of the deal is where I live... Good fruits are only around in stores for about 3 months out of the year. The rest of the time it's only apples and bananas... Very, very difficult to eat well with that kind of variety :)

I, also, am not, and have never been, on a "diet," per se, as in a special way of eating to lose weight. I do eat a whole-food/vegan "diet" (as in "what one eats") and try to avoid overly processed foods. Anyonw used to the Standard American Diet (SAD!) would probably consider this a "diet," but it's my regular way of eating.

Hey, I know everyone is gonna scream, but I have been doing Atkins for 5 weeks now and getting good results. Not strict Atkins, mind you, but since I was a definate carb addict(and, yes, I am still general manager of a bagel store), it has helped me enormously great over the carb addiction. I am adding back carbs now, so I think i am doing more of a Body RX/Atkins mix. And I think getting sugar out of my diet is one of the HUGE pluses of this eating plan. The other is NO CAFFIENE....none, zip, not a drop....and I feel 100 times better. I have not eaten a bagel or had a cup of coffee in 5 weeks. Quite an accomplishment for someone who is surrounded by both for 10 hours a day!! Donna.

I'm so envious of those of you who don't diet. My son and I both began having to watch our weight at age 12. I wonder what the difference is??? A healthy lifestyle at home? Good genes? I envy the fact you seem to know, instinctively, how to eat well.

LA Weight Loss Program for over a year with awesome results! I'm in maintenance no - good so far!

Take care,

Iris :D

The diet I am on is eat whatever I like when I like, but within vegetarian limits.

Putting food on a "must not eat" list just makes people want it all the more. I prefer to tell myself "I don't have to finish all the cookies today, food isn't going out of style, there's always tomorrow and there's plenty more in the shops so sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow down!"

Usually works.

I recently joined WW and they are teaching me how to eat well & properly. It really doesn't seem like a diet to me, rather a method of teaching a healthy eating lifestyle. Focus on healthy veggies and fruits, lean meats...and all else in moderation. Nothing is truly off limits, within reason (as in, portions).
