SNORE!!! How boring! :-( I have to say I am rather disappointed. CBelle was asking for gift ideas...she wasn't interested in knowing who is too cool for Valentines Day or who will be sitting like a blob on their couch holding their anti Hallmark fest. ;-) I know many of you are so much more creative than this so c'mon people....share a few dang ideas.

AGREED!

I am giving my BF a bracelet that I originally bought for Christmas but held off b/c I found something that fit the holiday better! It is one of those new style metal bracelets and I can't wait to give it to him! I know that he has plans for us to have dinner, so there is a romantic evening in site! :)

Other ideas are a romantic evening (out or in); some nice loungewear/pajamas/lingerie; his favorite _______ (desert, candy, type of clothing, meal, wine, etc.); a picture of you; some type of momento that he can wear (watch, bracelet, hat, etc.).

Ok well here's what I did/am doing.....we got all excited about giving each otehr our gifts so we gave them early. Now I'll have to think of something again! LOl I had given him on Sunday a new Saab emblem for his car, the one he had had worn off. He LOVED it! Such a guy. So now here's my plan:

Show up at his door before he leaves for work with his favorite froufrou coffee from starbucks. Once he leaves for the gym on his lunch break I'll run out to Panda Express (his fave) and get him his lunch. I'm going to set up his desk with Valentine's place setting, a red rose, champagne glass (for Mt Dew) and a card. I'm also going to make a key lime pie for him that I had promised to do at christmas time.

I just need a gift!!!

Wow Cbelle that is cool!!!!!! I love this holiday because it is the one time of the year that it is okay to be sappy and sentimental. I am still giddy and will be until next week! :) Good luck on finding a gift!

I think all of this sounds great. You'll really be spending the whole day showing him how much he means to you.:)

I am taking DH to a sleazy hotel to have my way with him. He doesn't know it yet. The hotel is actually right down the street. My total focus will be on him :)

He made a paver walkway out the back door of our house to a gate that had a big heart outlined in stone :D

Well scoot over and make a little room for me! I'm cool...I am...oh yes I am!

Nothin'. We're pretty anti-Hallmark here too. But in the days when we were both less busy, sometimes we went to Little Italy for dinner on Valentine's Day just for a laugh. If you've never done it, you've got to do it just once. The restaurants in Little Italy are over the top on V's Day and it's hilarious. Not only are the decorations tacky and overdone, but all the food is red, even the pasta. Too funny. :7

Suz,

Wow! Congratulations to you too! Did you do it that way on purpose?

We didn't. We would have lost out on a military married benefit if we didn't marry by the 14th of February so, we did it on that day.

Hope you have fun!

Well, sort of. Get this. We met the end of November in Southern California where I'm from. We were visiting Colorado for Christmas for 10 days where DH is from (but he was living in LA working for LA County Sheriff's Dept.). His mom was married at the time to DH's long-time stepdad and their anniversary was Feb. 14th, as was stepdad's birthday. So we were at the airport on Jan. 1st, not long after we met, mind you, getting ready to fly back to LA and my future MIL says, "Why don't you two get married on Feb. 14th?" We both look at her in shock and didn't say a word. Our plane gets delayed for an hour on the runway. DH looks at me and says, "So, do you want to get married on February 14th?" I say, "Okay" (because I was absolutely head over heels for this guy already) and he says, "Okay, we'll go shopping for rings tomorrow." We did. MIL then decides to freak out b/c "you hardly know each other" but quickly gets over it (ummm...wasn't it her idea???). She's the best MIL in the world. We have the best marriage. I couldn't be happier. :)

By the way, he's 8 years younger than I am. I was 30 at the time we got married. We were set up by our friends and my friend called me the day we were supposed to meet with the "news" of his age. I almost backed out. She talked me into just giving it a shot b/c he was so mature and super nice. She was right. Glad I went!

Sorry, I don't think that we've even thought that far ahead!!! We usually don't do anything special, though.

Good for you Suz! What a great story! Here's to you and the happy DH. To many more years of wedded bliss!

I got him one of those Hallmark ;-) music cards and will send it to his office. Still thinking about sending a singing telegram, too!

I told my SO let's not worry about it this year, but he's working a shut down right now at the refinery he works at, and will be for the next 8 weeks or so, so I want to get him a massage (not give him a massage, get him a massage!!) He's constantly begging for one every night because he's so tired and sore, I want him to have a professional one when this is over with because he loves them so much.

Valentine's Day, for me, has always been about my mom, because that's her birthday!
