We're In This Together *~July~*

Hello everyone :)

Today is my rest day. I'm going for a walk to my sister's house to visit her and the new kitty :). That kid is wasting her Summer away :(. All she does is stays in the house and texts. I forced her yesterday to come to the park with Bella and I, just so she could get out and move her legs. When I was her age, you could not keep me in the house. I don't understand this generation .

Hmmm...the workouts will cost around $89.00 for downloads. That's a pretty damn good price for that whole bundle. Now I'm not sure what to do . I know if I don't get them, I will regret it. I'm still mulling it over...

Have a rockin' day ladies!

Natty-Enjoy your rest day, I must move forward with plyo legs cause I will be networking Wednesday and Thursday nights. One is over an hour away. Visiting a new kitty is always a good reason for a walk. Yes, despite my future is in social media, the best way to be in the world is to part of it and not online.
$10 per workout, not a bad deal. I will purchase the whole series cause my unemployment benes went thru and so should my deferment.

For my next 5 meals or so, I made spaghetti with whole grain noodles and low fat turkey plus parm cheese.
My next blog posting is on the Power of Nice, my former internship host thought rudeness was the way to go but her Boss came up with resistance from his sales crew so now he is putting out the fires she has caused. Lots of interesting articles on it on how the opposite causes loss of productivity and turnover.

Today I did CrossFire, the premix with the impact plus the bonus core. I was able to do the impact version since I'm in the first two weeks of my cycle. I think I (did I?) tell you guys how I had discovered that my knees are way more unstable and cranky during the week before and the week of my period. I found out it has to do with the hormone relaxin being released during those times and I must have a ton of that hormone! I had problems with joints and ligaments being really loose and unstable while I was pregnant with both kiddos, too unfortunately. Literally the day after my period is over my knees feel more stable and I'm good to go. Weird! I've finally gotten into a pretty good rhythm where I remember to go with all low impact workouts during those two weeks. I can handle impact workouts during the first two weeks (like now), so I'm saving the less impact premixes from these two new workouts for when I need them:cool:.

I still have trouble with the step and torquey moves though. I'm staying away from those workouts for now. I'm so bummed...especially with Athletic Step. I just loved that workout! It was so much fun and I was totally catching onto the choreography.:( I still have it stowed away though just in case I decide to tackle it again the future...we'll see:).

Btw, loved CF! I wasn't able to put everything into it this time though because...unbelievably...I still have lower body DOMS from my workouts on Sunday! Maybe I should've eased back into working out! I also always look forward to when I'm familiar with a workout and the moves coming up so I don't have to keep rewinding as I constantly miss the first few reps of a move.

Natty- did you see some of the other replies to your thread on VF? One of Leslie's workouts that keeps coming up is the 4 Fast Miles. It seems the Walk Slim series is pretty popular, too.

Jen- good luck with Plyo legs! Those were my favorite part of Meso 3! It sounds like Cathe is doing something similar in the XTrain series! Can't wait!

On another subject...anybody else TOTALLY excited for Sunday? BREAKING BAD RETURNS!!!! Ahhhh! I'm freaking out!

Later girls!

I thought presale is Monday, the 16th.

Colleen- Knee problems are a pain. I experience issues from over doing it on step or jumping too much.
Gin Miller has an advanced basic step workout called Simply Step. No crazy stuff.

Got fraud email from Citi Bank today. Once you go to the site and enter the info, you're account is messed.

Need to workout and color my hair.

Colleen
Thanks for the heads-up about the VF thread. I'll check it out again. You were super sweet to do that for me ;).
I'm glad you are able to get some relief from knee pain, even if it's only for 2 weeks. My lower back gets BAD during ovulation. My joints and ligaments were a mess when I was pregnant. Mind you, I was on modified bed rest and gained 65lbs. I almost had a heart attack at my final pregnancy weigh-in! At that time, I was thinking "how the hell am I going to lose all this weight??!!". I thought for sure I would keep 5 or 10lbs on my frame and just remain a little heavier. Nope! After I found Cathe, it just melted off :D.
I'm glad you liked CF. I knew you would :D.
YAY BREAKING BAD!!! SUPER STOKED!!!

Jen
Your meal sounds very tasty Jen :p. What kind of sauce do you put on it?
OMG wait, did your account get compromised??!! I hope not.
Speaking of coloring hair, I need to do mine too :(. I have SO many white hairs now.
Your next blog posting sounds good. The Power Of Nice within the workforce is definitely the better way. I can vouch to that ;)
Have fun with Plyo Legs!

Good night ladies :)

Ok, I'm kinda happy with myself. The only exercises I didn't do were the 180 degree jumps. My first time I tried plyo legs and couldn't do it so I did squat rack which isn't easier.
My sauce is prego with fresh mushrooms.

OMG, how can I NOT get XTrain? I just saw on FB, the downloads are $79.97 . Nine workouts for that price, who can say no to that? Honestly :D.

Today's workout is Squat Rack first time! Bring me the heavy baby :D.

BBL!

Isn't that a fabulous price for the new workouts? She is offering it without the spin dvd too so that's perfect for me! I can't wait!

Today I did HC volume 4. Man that one is sooo hard!:confused: There is tons of balance required on the ball. This one move is insane. Plus it's right at the end when I'm totally fatigued and I just can't do it quite yet. She has your feet/shins up on the ball, hands on a 6 inch step in plank, then she has you do what she calls suicide push ups (Jillian calls them walking planks) where you go down on one elbow at a time then push back up to your hands. Natty- you've done Jillian's BFBM so you are probably familiar with the walking plank move she does in that. I love that move but on the ball??? I just couldn't do it so I wound up kicking the ball aside and just putting my feet on the step and doing it with my hands on the floor. Lots to work up to there!

Jen- great job on Plyo legs!! I'm so glad your account wasn't compromised, too!

Some good news. Because of my blog posted on my alma mater group page on Linked in, I was approached abt one month ago to work for an automotive company to do social media. We chatted again, the more defined role would be corporate and events PR thru social media based on strategies and goals of the company. He told me I would be well compensated. Technically, I'm not employed. But its going in that direction.

Natty. Hope you like squat rack. I lost weight from it.
Colleen. Congrats on the workout.

Here is my disappointing experience with Squat Rack. I hate to back out of a workout, and I rarely do, but that's what I did 20min in :(. Firstly, my lower back has been feeling a bit of strain these past few days. As soon as I put on my weighted vest, I could feel my lower back starting to ache. I tried a suggestion from a girl on another STS forum who uses the Turbo Tower as a squat rack, and placed the barbell on the highest hooks while sitting on the pull-up bar (to retrieve the barbell). I was just too scared I was going to lose my form and trip and fall :(. I always have this fear of not being secure with my barbell (it's an Olympic size, not Troy Lite). Ok so there was that dilemma. I lowered my barbell weight and proceeded to do the first set of squats. I could not go down to my furthest range of motion because of the pain in my back. Secondly, the weight is far too light for me to get the full benefit of the program :(. Even with my back feeling ok, I would need at least 90lbs to reach my 80%1RM, and I'm stuck at 70lbs. I don't even think my back could handle that weight load, come to think of it. No worries though, I have decided to go with plyo-legs and a 2nd leg workout (DOMS permitting :D), Gym Style or LIS Tri-Sets. Unless I have a spotter or an actual squat rack, I'm not risking it with that amount of weight. Safety is my first concern.

Long day today visiting the park and splash pad. I'm pooped :(.

Colleen
I love those walking planks! I remember trying to do them after I had Bella. They destroyed me! Now I can do them with 1 foot lifted off the ground :D. Ummm, could not imagine doing them on the ball though . That's crazy a$$ stuff! Stability ball workouts are TOUGH yet incredibly effective, especially on the core. I'm sure you'll get there though Mrs.Plank Queen

Jen
I hope you land that job! My fingers are crossed and I'm sending you lots of positive vibes {{{{}}}}} feel them? :D
Happy to hear your account was not compromised.

Have a good night ladies :p

Natty-Sorry to hear about your time with squat rack, it made me sad because you give 100% all the time. Hope your back is feeling better soon. 90 pounds is 80% for you!!! My limit was 54 lbs. Safety first is a wise move. Plyo-legs is cardio on steroids.
Colleen-Where are you?
Nikki, Amy and Sarah-You are missed.

Last night was my first official networking event, I went to one from my alma mater and it was more socializing not networking although it was quite fun. My goal was to chat with at least 10 people, I did, make connections with at least 5, exceeded. I told all of them they would get a nod on my blog, which is done. Explained to many that blogging is cheaper than therapy. Many liked the concept of it. Tonight is a Pink Slip Party near East Lansing and MSU about 90 minutes not including detours to avoid the orange cones.
Cautiously optimistic about my phone call yesterday. I've been let down numerous times for positions. Plus, the email was from an inactive credit card. A person wouldve had to click the link for fraud to occur.

Hello ladies :)

Today my back was still feeling a bit achy, and so I opted out of plyo legs and did a "softer" version, LBB w/leg conditioning drills :D. I really miss my other Cathe weight workouts :(. Later on this week, I will continue with plyo legs as planned. I am going to try and attempt 2X leg workouts/week and forget about Squat Rack.

Funny story I have to tell you guys. A few weeks ago, Mark was concerned that he had gained 5lbs rapidly since going to the gym. I then told him how Cathe says it is very common to gain water weight when starting a new strength training program, and he would probably lose it in a week or 2 (he looked very puffy too). A few days ago, I told him he looked a bit leaner and that he probably lost weight. Well guess who was right??? He told me he lost 5lbs :D. He was "sad" however that the puffiness from his muscles were gone . Men, sheesh! They're all the friggin' same!

BBL! Have a good day :)

Well, today I did To the Max (Extreme premix!). What a great workout! I did do it barefoot but with lots of modifications lol. I don't know how on earth Cathe can do all that plyo on the 10 inch step! She's only 5'2"! Just like me:eek:. Just like with Hiit 40/20, I think from now on I'm just going to play it safe and do what my body is okay with. There is no shame in modifying, right??

So here's what I did: I was able to do the 8 inch step like Cathe in the solid step part. It is amazingly easy to keep that part low impact. The part where she runs up on the step I just did a basic step up and I've always been able to do plyo jacks just fine barefoot.

For the Step Tabata and 30/20 Hiit sections I took the step to 6 inches. I just didn't want to risk my ankles and knees. I might try 8 inches on the 30/20 one next time but I got a mighty fine sweat with the 6 inch. I was totally anaerobic in this workout quite often so it might not even be necessary. There were several parts I used my rebounder in lieu of the move Cathe was doing. The part where she hops back and forth straddling the step and then hop up as well as the hop scotch jumps, I just did jump rope on my rebounder. I also can't do disc jacks or swimmers lunges on the discs so I did those on the rebounder, too. Whenever it was feasible I tried to keep it low impact or the jumps small. I've always been able to do box jumps barefoot just fine as long as I do them wide. I just love the firewalker plie jacks! For the jumping jacks I found it was easier on my joints to do them in sort of the lower squat like she does in CF.

I was able to do compound legs and the core without any modifications. When it got to the fitness tabata section though (before compound legs), I just skipped that whole chapter. I was pooped!!! Maybe another time! lol

Natty- I'm so sorry about your squat rack experience! Definitely safety first, for SURE! I just love the plyo legs workouts. She uses a lot of the same moves from the Hiit workouts as well as these new ones for the plyo and alternates them with leg weight training. You are going to love those! Baby that back big time! Do you ever see a chiropractor? I have one who is just awesome, but I have been to one that was awful. When they are good they are worth their weight in gold, when they are bad...they can be really bad:confused:.

Jen- fingers crossed on the possible job opportunity! I know exactly what you mean by not wanting to get the hopes up yet, though. I play a little mind game with myself where I usually keep my expectations in life quite low so that I can be pleasantly suprised when things go great:eek:. When I set my expectations too high I usually get disappointed which can be an awful feeling. This is the exact problem Mark often has. I really believe happiness is all in how you approach it. Just keep plugging along, I know that's easy to say but you always have us here to vent to!

BTW, got some great ab DOMS from yesterdays HC workout! YES!:D

Ok, I'm going to download B&G since I'm letting go of squat rack for the duration of M3 .

I just came back from a nice little walk to pick up some cat food from the vet office. Bella and I stopped by the park, and then she had to do #2, and so I rushed to come back home. You don't realize how taxing hills are on your legs until you have to push a 30lbs child uphill in a stroller...in 100F heat . I treated myself to a delish ice cream upon arriving home. I deserved it!!!

Colleen
I was snooping on VF, and came across a thread discussing TTM & Crossfire. I was surprised to see some people not liking them. Oh well, to each his own.
Congrats on nailing TTM! That workout just rocks my world! You're absolutely right, do what feels right for your body, and there is NO SHAME in modifying. Even with modifications, you're still burning mega cals and conditioning your heart.

Jen
What's a Pink Slip Party? Sounds kinda naughty ;).

Have a good night ladies :)

Natty- there tends to be some negative nellies on VF where Cathe is concerned. For some folks, it's because they can't do advanced workouts anymore due to age or injury and I think there might be some frustration with that. For others, I hear whispers that there was some controversy on Cathe's board a few years ago and some posters ended up being banned from her forum. I don't have all the details, though. I get so annoyed with the over the top haters. It's one thing to not be in love with a particular workout or to not click with an instructor but some (not all) people on there go way over board with the negativity. Anytime someone posts something negative about other board favorites (like Kelley Coffey-Meyer, Tracey Anderson, Amy Bento or Leslie Sansone just to name a few) a huge firestorm erupts on the thread if you dared to say anything about the untouchables. Yet with Cathe it's a free for all and we Cathletes that are on there just have to be silent or risk flaming on the thread. It totally pi$$es me off. I like many aspects of VF and since I'm super addicted to my workouts and the forums I still go on there but I have to sit on my hands to not write anything sarcastic or nasty in return sometimes:eek:.

Okay, gotta go. TTYL!

ETA: you are going to LOVE B&G! Awesome lower body burn and perfect to replace the squat rack dvds! Between LBB, B&G and the Plyo legs workouts you will be good to go at twice a week! That's basically what I did (or tried to do before I bailed on Meso 3 )

Good morning ladies :)

Ugghh, my back is still hurting :(. Just like Colleen's knee's, one wrong twist, turn or move, and I'm out of commission :(. I was going to do my first M3 disc for shoulder's, bi's and tri's today, but I shall have to wait until tomorrow :(. My plan is some easy steady state cardio.

LBB gave me some nice DOMS today :)

Colleen
Ohhh, I'm loving me some gossip! I'm a girl, it's in my blood :D. I already get this certain negative vibe when I go on the VF forums. I'm happy not to be part of it. It's very hard for me to comprehend how people can get so darn sensitive over certain topics. I absolutely HATE walking on egg shells. If you knew me in real life, you would automatically notice that I have no problems discussing my opinions, and I don't give a %&$# what anyone thinks. But I'm quite reserved on this forum for fear of unintentionally hurting people. I won't however, go as far as criticizing or judging anyone (unless they were a convicted murderer ;)) and I never feel as though I'm better than anyone else. Cathe is special to me for so many reasons. I think it would hurt me to read all those mean spirited comments about her. I know what you mean about sitting on your hands though. I have done that a few times here.

OMG guys, have you watched Louis CK's show on Netflix??? I was dying last night. That man is a comedic genius. Just because I highly value a sense of humor in a man, I would so totally date him ;)

Good day gals!

Hello Friends.

Natty-please take it easy today and it's great that you are listening to your body to avoid injury. Pink slip, naughty-thanks for the laugh. LBB great workout.
Colleen-During my MBA when I wasn't on the forums as much, they were more than a few banned due to many reasons. Another high profile instructor who did attend a road trip was on at that time whom, I believe, voluntarily dropped. Thus, the rules were posted on the forums about behavior and etiquette. Unfortunately, it needed to be done.

Last night, I attended the Pink Slip Party at a church near MSU. They had workshops on resumes, transferable skills and the keynote speaker from MSU did effective networking. Technically, I am in negoiations for the position so I went mainly to promote the event via my blog. People were listening and coming up to me about my blog although there were two others there. I told the story of when I posted my blog to my alma mater and I got a call within hours for a possible job. Yes, faces lit up. I did encourage others to start blogging.
Today, investigate my possible future employer more but my gut says its cool. M3 Disc 27, last disc of the first week, is my goal for today. Heat and humidity today which may squash this.

Not working out tonight. Tired from networking and little rain. Checked out my possible new employer online. Its all good.

Jen
I'm not at all surprised they posted rules on behavior and etiquette. I wonder if those people act in the same manner in real life outside of the forums. It would suck to be them and to live life so negatively.
Your Pink Slip Party looks like it went well. Not what I had envisioned in my mind, but that was not work/business related ;). I'm impressed that you are physically getting out there and attending all these functions and internships. You are approaching everything in such a positive fashion. You are such a strong, determined woman, and it shows. I know all that is going to pay-off, and everyday I read our check-in hoping that your unemployment has ended. Sending so many positive vibes and prayers :)

Going to finally rest and watch some tv. I'm tuckered out :(

Have a good night ladies :)
