We're in This Together (3.18-3.25)

Oh yeah, Natty you should totally check out the Walking Dead. Good show! I agree the first half of the second season was really slow but then it gets good again in the last half. Some of the characters really pi$$ me off but it's still good stuff! Do you guys get the new season of Mad Men starting up on Sunday?

Sarah- are you going to try and do Cycle Max now?

Colleen - I will keep my fingers crossed that an elliptical will be yours sooner rather than later. DId you guys do your taxes. It's bonus time for us so thats what all of these fun things are. Now for 11 months, we will live frugal.

Nat - I got home at 10 and signed on first to see what the daily deals were and saw STS and said to myself, she popped on it. I knew buy 10 you had already made you move. Checkmate.

Jen- How long should I make my first ride (I don't want to find the next day that I have a sore crotch)? I don't ride bikes at all so I'm not used to it.

Sarah

Sarah, experiment with three minute intervals
You may get sore since you don't ride plus changing bikes causes it too.

Hi everyone :)

I'm in a great mood today :). This weather is just so beautiful and now I have STS in my collection. I'm totally stoked . Which rotation would you guys recommend I do? I have to include cardio in my rotation no matter what. Even if only 2 days, that's ok, I walk a lot during the summer.
Jen
I hope you are feeling better today. I agree about the guys, they are very cute ;). I mean I love looking at Cathe, she is gorgeous, but it would be nice to change it up with some hot men too ;).
Sarah
You'd knew I jump on it hun? Lol. I've never spinned, but I used to mountain bike ride a lot before I had Bella. The sore crotch is rough. The first few weeks, you are gonna feel pretty "raw" down there, no lies. It goes away the more you ride, so don't feel discouraged. Going up hill was tough for me, my quads would burn, but I had no choice but to keep on going. I think that is equivalent to turning up the tension on a spinning bike (correct me if I'm wrong Jen). Don't give up, just give yourself time and patience....and an ice pack lol.
Colleen
I'm not sure about the tower or the door thingy for pull-ups. I want to be able to do them, I think it would be a great accomplishment. Ideally, I want the tower so I can put my barbell on it for chest presses and barre work. I'm in love with this series and I have not even tried it yet. For some reason, I think Meso 3 is my thing, only because I friggin' dread push-ups and high reps. Don't worry about the mom thing. I really think we have the same one and were separated at birth :)

Tonight is supposed to be LIC (from LIS) but I may do another step instead. Athletic Step is calling my name :)

Have a great evening everyone :)

Today. My only spinning spells (Vertigo) are when I lie down or try to get up or bend over too far. My fever is still high though due to the weather being so warm. More energy though.
Also, I gave my soon-to-be former internship host some businesses just like his that he wants to start-up. It will relieve me of any duties since these people might offer advice since he's not in the same market. Toronto Dollar Community Alternative currency and community charity, Home - Liberty Dollar of Chambersburg and Duluth Dollars. I prepped for my interiew for Friday and the lady seems very nice. She doesn't know I've been ill.

Natty-Some of the same guys are in Shock Cardio/Kickbox and bootcamp. Plus, Jai's husband is in the original Bootcamp/Muscle Endurance. ALL cute!!! I own the tower but you can find the door one that P90X uses.
Sarah-Natty is correct. Consider Mindy Mylera too or Cycle Reebok for instruction too.
I have the same bike as you do. Follow instructions to the tee, I put the stabilizers on last-not good.
Colleen-not into Mad Men but I hear its good. Kitchen Cousins are my eye candy.

Glad, I emailed that guy the stuff cause he will need it now. He offered me to do some stuff then I replied back that I have Veritgo and a fever so I won't be doing anything. I guess I ticked him off. It is coming to light that I was the one to underwrite the whole business plan while he goes off to all the meetings-wthout a finished product.

GOOD NEWS: I contacted the agency whom is running the program and I told them my concern with the internship host. This drama will be ending. Thank GOD. and Thank you for allowing me to vent.

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday I did Jillian's new kickbox instead of LIC. I just couldn't wait to try :). I expected a harder w/o from Jill; perhaps it was hard but I'm just so much more advanced now . Regardless, I got a fun and sweaty session for under 45min (level 1&2). She seemed to be really kicking it down a notch with her attitude too. Still motivating, but not as rough & tough. KPC is still my ultimate fav kickboxing.

Funny story, last night Mark comes homes and said that he wanted to surprise me with a Tassimo for my b-day (it's like Kieurig but you can make latte's, espresso's and specialty coffee's). Unfortunately, they recalled them, cuz' get this, THEY EXPLODED!! LOL. Ok maybe not lol. I don't think anyone died though. He said he was looking into the Kieurig but he knew how much I love the latte's and it does not have that feature. These machines cost $150+. So there, my STS purchase was sensible. I spent less than a Tassimo AND I don't really need a new coffee machine :)

Jen
It's so good you contacted the agency about the internship host. Did you mention in another post that he is unemployed as well?. Why so much drama with this dude? He seems like he wants to take advantage of you. Not cool.
You put a link for Toronto Dollar Community. I had no idea they did that. I was looking at the pics above and saw the street car and it brought back good memories. I hope you are feeling much better today and your fever has passed. Hopefully tomorrow goes well.

Bye bye girls, have a good one!

Hello Friends.
Enjoying this day and feeling relief that I finally spoke up. Yes, he was taking advantage of an intern he didn't even need. From those websites, he could contact them for permission and for advice then launch within a week. It will be interesting the response I get from the agency. They are used to comments from the hosts.
My day today is to got out for lunch and eat. It is supposed to rain here today which will help as well.
Natty-Yes, STS is more sensible than a coffee machine. Did you order the guide? Many claim not to need it or use it, but it helped me just to have the physical reference.

Have a Great Day!!!

Hello everybody!

I've got great news...drum rolls.... I am the new coordinator!!!!! Just right now I'm doing the same Happy Dance Cathe does at the end of Imax 2 :D I know I may sound silly but to me it's very important, after more than 5 years in the company,as I already did the coordinator while the previous one was on her maternity leave, it was a position that I really believed to deserve. ;)
Little Riccardo has been pretty sick though. He's recovering very slowly, he's very weak and DH and I were pretty afraid because he looked like "turned-off", which is very scaring because we're used to a restless child who does damages every seconds of the day. Hopefully he's on the right track.;)

So you guys are having something new...Natty STS, Colleen a step club, Sarah a spin bike....I want something for myself too!!!!
Well, I wanted to buy a barbell or heavier weights but this is not possible just right now as I should invest some money on new clothes."Thanks" to the new position I have to go to official meetings also and so need to buy something new because my old suits have become too loose ...thanks to Cathe!;)
DH is not very happy about that but I promised I won't spend that much  hopefully :p

Sarah: you know when I was a child I had a dog that was the nightmare of the farmers who lived in my neighborhood? When a chicken was missing, they would come to our place and have an argue with Dad because of that, you made me lough so much!

Jen: so happy you're felling better and you've enjoyed your lunch out.

Nat: is that your b-day???TANTI AUGURI !!!! (Happy happy birthday!!!)

Colleen:
I'm constantly made to feel like the "bad daughter" because I tell it like it is
I am the same. I think my Mom got used to that, I say things bluntly even when I know she's not going to like what I say.

My Mom too had a life full of bad habits and now that she's turning 60 she started to do something for herself, i.e. walking on a treadmill 30-40 mins at least 3x week, but she thinks to lose her excess of weight just with cardio. And how about nutrition? Too many carbs, very few proteins...She's slowly changing her mind but it's not enough. Anyway she stopped complaining about me jumping up and down the step and lifting weights, which is a little conquer of mine I'm really proud of!:)

No working out today as I had fever last night (caught something from Ricky), today I'm feeling pretty well but still not 100% on the energy side.Let's hope tomorrow will be a better day for me and my little one.

Have a nice day everyone!

Ellie-CONGRATS!! YOU DESERVE IT!! Happy Dance the day away!!! Hope your baby is doing better. Somethings are hard to get over than others. Did you call his pediatrician?
Is there a SteinMart near you? they have a 12 hour sale on Saturday. I shop Dress Barn clearance racks.

Update. I went to a steak house for lunch for a complete meal and problably I had the best server EVER! Usually, the others forget something like my rolls with honey butter. She might be a tad bit older than me but this place would hurt greatly if she left.

Also, I haven't heard from the program. My gut is telling me that they have contacted legal in order to avoid a lawsuit which I don't plan to file OR they are brushing it over like it didn't happen which is wise PLUS my gut is telling me that my soon to be former intern may not have told the whole truth about his situation either. Any response would be good.
My friend, I hadn't heard from him in a couple of days, thought he may not have gotten his new VW or he has a new girlfriend or both. He got the new VW and something is wrong already.

CONGRATULATIONS ELLIE!! Whoo Hoo! All that stress paid off finally!:D Even though it's expensive clothes shopping should be pretty fun.;) It's so cool to be able to get nice new clothes in smaller sizes. Total reward for all your hard work! I so hope Riccardo gets better soon. My little Dylan was sick really often when he was little. Poor little guy had pneumonia 4 times from age 21/2 to 6!:( It is so stressful when your baby isn't feeling well! That's awesome your mom is slowly coming around to the idea of health and wellness too. It can feel like it's taking a long time for her to slowly get it but at least she's moving in the right direction. That's something to be happy about for sure! I always hoped my mom would pick up on that too, but not yet I'm afraid. I always hope maybe one day she'll have an epiphany...

Happy Birthday Natty!! I hope you are having an awesome one! Good weather, special day, just got STS...Yipee!:D

Jen do you still have the interview tomorrow? I hope it goes well! That's too bad about all the drama with the intern stuff...I hope it settles down soon.

Sarah- did you try the spin bike yet?

Thanks Colleen, I didn't know it was Natty's birthday. Yes,
I have an interview on Friday

Hi ladies :)

Thanks for the b-day wishes!

Tonight's w/o will probably be 40/20. Last time I attempted a tough workout in the evening, I almost threw up. We'll see how I do tonight...

Ellie
 Congrats!!!!! I knew you would get the position!!!
Yes, YOU MUST get new workout gear to celebrate. AND in a smaller size too!!! I'm so proud of you :).
I'm sorry to hear about Riccardo still sick. All children recover at their own pace. Some kids take it hard, others do not get affected so much. I hope he bounces back soon and "destroys" the house again lol. Mine looks like a tornado just hit it . I hope you feel better too. Fevers hit me hard. Rest and take care.
Colleen, Jen & Sarah
All the STS talk on my other check-in is a bit overwhelming. It sounds very complicated . Weighted vest, ankle weights, wrist weights, a million pieces of equipment, 1RM & the 5% increase. Geeze, I don't think I can go "all out" with that program just yet. Perhaps in a few years I can invest, but for now I have to make due with what I have and try my best and hardest. I know I want a tower in the future, that's for sure. I'm very excited to try it, no doubt. But I'm not sure if I will reap optimal benefits if I don't have all the proper equipment. Any thoughts and advice? I want to start a rotation in April. Would you recommend the program as designed first? The STS/Shock Cardio rotation looks good. Which ones did you do?
Jen
Your steak lunch sounds fantastic. Honey butter? Oh my, what's that??
I'm not sure I understand the part about them contacting legal to avoid a lawsuit you don't plan to file. Please clarify. Is it because of your intern? I hope your friend is wiser then to blow you off for a VW and/or new girlfriend.

Have a good evening :)

Natty- STS can seem pretty overwhelming! That was one reason I delayed doing it for a long time. Then I was able to get Meso 1 and Meso 2 through trades on VF so I went for it! I didn't actually do a formal rotation other than the 3 STS workouts a week. I went ahead and did whatever cardio I felt like on the other days. I would always do at least one LIS workout a week because I love those workouts so much (either AB, CS or AT and lately TBT LB). That was the reason I think I was able to stick with it because it had that sort of flexibility!
I started out with the first workout in Meso 1 having not done the 1RM and I was pretty frustrated with having to guess my weights so I went ahead and did them. On Cathe's Workout Manager she makes it really easy to do them and keep track for you. She recommends you do the 4 and 5 star ones at least but I wound up doing all of them in the end. I think to do them you'll be a lot more accurate if you use a moderately heavy weight to calculate them. On the STS portion of the WM it will have a spot where you put in a weight and how many reps you can do with that weight with good form. Then it calculate the 1RM for you. Then when you go to do the workout scheduled you just print off a workout sheet and it will have all your weights right there.

As far as equipment, the only thing I wish I would have had was the tower. I really want to do a pull up! I did have 1 and 2 lb wrist weights with a little thumb lock on them (by Reebok, got them at Target) that were handy for those little increments. For dumbells I would just wear them (like say if I needed 13 lbs I'd get my 12 lb db and the 1 lb wrist weight). For my barbell I'd just wrap them around it on each end. Quite often, though, I'd just use the weights as a guide. If I couldn't get it exactly I would just round up or down depending on how I felt that day. I didn't worry about doing everything exactly right...I figured I was gaining strength regardless!

Okay, all that said...I have a confession. I've decided to stop Meso 3 early for the upper body workouts at least. I love the Plyo legs and will do those during the next 2 weeks but I have 4 upper body ones that I just can't bring myself to do. I loved the other Meso's so much for upper body but I'm just not loving the ones in Meso 3!:( I think I may start doing some circuits and kettlebells next week (starting slowly with a lighter bell this time). I feel like such a bum but I talked with the girls on the STS thread and they were understanding! Speaking of, Natty you totally should go to the STS First time thread on the STS forum! The girls are great over there! Alot of them are getting close to finishing but there are always new people popping in and joining who have just started. Plus a lot of us plan to hang around and chit chat even after STS and revisit it off and on.

Okay, better go get something done...

Hello Friends.
PLEASE help me cause Friday afternoon is my self-imposed internet/technology free time so I can experience life without a smartphone or pc. Thanks.

Honey butter is whipped butter mixed with honey and sometimes maple in it. It IS the bomb!!!
Yes, I truly believe the State agency whom sponsored the program is in touch with their legal team b/c of my internship host. I didn't state that I don't plan on any litigation and I won't cause I want a job with the state. Reason-no response from sent email this morning about the internship.
My friend. Didn't hear from him for awhile. I hope him and I at least meet before he makes any decisions but GOD only does know.

Natty-STS, I held off until I finished my MBA before I started it so almost 6 months or more after it's release. Correction, I had gotten Shock Cardio before I started it. Yes, the discussion can get so technical that it takes the fun out of it. Do Shock Cardio on your recovery days with STS. So, you do strength one day then do cardio the next or three days strength and one cardio...It is designed to work together. There was some discussion of all the required or recommended equipment for STS but I think it was to make it more gym like.
Colleen-Upper body in Meso 3 is horrible. She works us hard in that. During 2, I increased my weights by at least 10% to push myself. Plyo legs is hard too.
Ellie-Hope you are celebrating your well-deserved promotion tonight!!!

Some odd news: The guy actually emailed me to find out if I am feeling better. He is playing it problably on the urging of the agency, it is not like him. The State needs to come up with guidelines on how both parties will act not presume all blame on the interns.
Some good news, my meeting is just over two hours away with my new potential internship.

Good morning ladies :)

I bailed on 40/20 last night. I was just too tired and my body told me no. Rescheduled for Sat morning (no bailing this time).

Today is Turbo Barre. For some reason, the pink firewalker makes me smile. I always try to wear pink too like Cathe & crew......ok I know this is a bit much

Colleen

Oh please, don't feel bad for bailing on Meso 3! No one is here to judge you. Why do a workout you dread? You won't give it 100% and then you're just cheating yourself. So you were not feeling the love, that's ok. I'm curious as to what you particularly did not like about it. I'm sure you are not the only one that had gripes. I remember one Cathlete (Kathryn) saying she regretted the entire STS strength series on a topic in OD. She never even got past meso 1. I'm telling you, more people here should give constructive criticism.
Thanks for the tips on STS too. Very helpful. I was looking at the w/o manager and perhaps I need to plug in my #'s. I am gonna be honest, me and paperwork don't mix.
Jen
Thanks for the tips on STS. I know I'll have more questions. I want to have fun with it, so my approach won't be so strict. I know in the future as I acquire more equipment, it might make things easier in the long run. I like that it was designed to have a gym-like feel, no complaints there. Hope you are feeling better today :)

Have a good one ladies :)

Natty-About STS, once I got into it, I was commited cause I knew I could gain with it BUT I did start slow with 3lb weights while Cathe and crew were lifting crazy amounts. Between Mesos, you are supposed to take a week off be sure to do it before Meso Cycle 3.
Looks like rain here in MI and the air is cooling so my health should improve.

I think what I discovered about myself with STS is I love lifting weights but I prefer either moderate weights at higher reps or moderately heavy at 10-12 reps like in Meso 2. I felt like I got the biggest gains from those. In Meso 3 she has you do 80-90% of your 1RM for 6-8 reps...then you have to wait what seems like forever for your muscles to regenerate their energy. Sometimes more than a minute! She also has you do the same set of exercises 4 times with the exact same weight...so for chest and back you are doing the same 2 exercises over and over and it just really dragged for me.

I didn't feel totally worked when I was done even though they were long workouts. At first I thought maybe my weights weren't heavy enough but when I tried to go up I felt like I was hurting myself. My neck really bothered me for a few days after chest and back last Sunday and I feel really tight there...which must mean I was using my traps too much to assist. I'm actually scheduled to go in for a massage in an hour to help work that out!:D Yipee! Which reminds me, better get in the shower! I did Trisets LB before I dropped Lydia off at 4K and then AT leg cardio express when I got back! I'm wiped out!

BBL!

Some GREAT news: My new internship host, I connect with and she plans to pay me as long as I deliver. I suggested an idea and she thought it was great. Plan to contact the State again to let them know I will be doing both and let Ann Arbor know. I was planning on being internet-free today but it may only being a few hours.
This could turn into a full time job.
