We're home! (long)

Congratulations Sandra! We also wanted to do a water birth with our first child, but it just didn't work out. Maybe with my next.
Rest up! I'm glad everything went well.

Congrats Sandra! :) I'm glad to hear that everything went well. What a wonderful birth story too. Can't wait to see pictures. Take care of yourself!

Sandra,
What an amazing birth story! I think that is childbirth at its finest- truly shows the capabilities we women can have. I am so happy for you! Enjoy your new baby girl!!

What a beautiful birth story.

And you are the first person I have ever heard say they feel sexy after giving birth ;-) How cool is THAT?

A 10 pound baby is quite an accomplishment. I wouldn't have wanted to know that prior to labor either LOL!

I love your daughter's name. Katherine is a timeless classic.

Congrats on your beautiful baby girl.

More congratulations!!!! One recommendation...print out this thread to put in her baby book. Soooo fun to look back at!

I loved your birth story. It's beautiful when nature is left to take it's course without "doctoral" intervention.

Maggie.....get a birthing tub or find a hospital that has one....there's just no other way to give birth (do I sound just a little opinionated there - imagine me opinionated).

Congratulations! Your story is a beautiful one. I felt the same way about not feeling like I had just had a baby after DD arrived. Enjoy every moment and try to rest even if you don't think you need it. I'm so happy for you!!

Best wishes,

Sandra,

I am so glad to hear that everything went amazingly well. Congratulations to you and your family.

You're so right about all the support from all the other posters. You've all been so amazing.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the well wishes! Kate is now 5 days old, and we're doing quite well. She's got her days and nights completely reversed, so I'm not getting much sleep (surprise). We're going to start turning her around by waking her up every 2 hours in the daytime. The nursing has been a challenge (*sore* nipples, some bleeding, engorgement) but I've seen some good improvement over the last day or two. The midwife said this was unavoidable, given the baby is such a vigorous sucker. Ibuprofen and cold cabbage leaves in my bra are my new best friends.

Kristan - what is a pumpkin seat?

Wendy - Paris has been a *dream* with her baby sister! She adores her, and is very proud to now be a big sister. She likes to use her finger puppets and put a show for the baby when she's in her bouncy seat. It's adorable.

Katie - that's such an unusual way to spell Katharine. What a nice coincidence! The name goes back 5 generations in my husband's family.

Kate and Briee - after having a water birth, I can't imagine any other way to do it! I hope it's an option that becomes more widely available.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I'll hopefully be able to get back into posting more frequently within a week or two.

All the best,
Sandra

Sandra- pumpkin seat is a very antiquidated term for a car seat carrier. Sorry about that- i must have picked that up from my MIL. take care.
