WeightLoss Challenge Thru 12/31 - 8/24

Hello everyone ...I'm sorry I don't get to address each by your name. I use my phone and I read your post.. so I can not for the life of me remember everything I read and who said it! Am I the only one who is having a hard time with that. I wish I could put names a statement to the side of screen and address it that way. Lol.

Well I did step moves and kickmax today. Yesterday was push pull.
my dads veins keep busting so they put a port n the neck. He is getting cranky and I really don't blame him he can't hear at all he doc is foreign so that makes a heavy accent plus daddy only has. A 4 grade education and that was back in 50s I guess so it makes it difficult to understand them and what they r gona do to him. I'm so sure its frightening to him.
Well I have been on phone a lot and trying to catch up on the news of dad a spread it around to siblings I havnt had time to keep up on all the threads I'm currently on. I lost 4 onces! Lol well that is 1 pound and 4 ounces in 3 weeks. Wow.

Melanie, I can't say Im "enjoying" running...lol...but I am liking it more than I did when I started!! Getting outdoors is helping me. I was only running on the treadmill. Fri will be my first attempt doing intervals on our local high school track. I have to get over the thought of people "watching" me even though I know they probably aren't paying much attn!! Just a lil insecure
Im doing a 5k on 9/29 to help with race jitters for the 10k which is on 10/21. It's been 2 yrs since I last did my first and only 5k.
Ooh, TB Trisets had me with leg DOMS for 2-3 days!! It's a goodie ;) I will be doing GS in 4 weeks. I started 3 wks of PS this week and I am liking it. Basic, solid, old school heavy lifting moves. My Bis were Domsing sooo bad today after yest!!

Sue, I found this calculation that suggests how many calories to eat in order to reach your weight goal. So I am going to try it out as it just so happens to coincide what I felt my body could survive on without uncontrollable hunger!

Base Calories = 655 + (4.4 x your goal wt in #) + (4.6 x your height in inches) - (4.7 x your age in yrs). Then, Multiply that number by 1.2 if you get lil or no exercise or 1.3 if you're somewhat active. I chose 1.3.

For me, that is 1800 cals/day, but I played with it a lil so I can eat more for Sunday dinner at my parents. My Mom is an awesome cook and always has home-made dessert!! And I need a lil more on the day of my long run. So, I eat 1700 on 5 days of the week, Sun is 2100, and my long run day which is Mon right now is 1900 which all averages out to 1800/day. I eat pretty clean except for Sunday dinner that is like my cheat meal. So far so good. I even lost some weight!!...finally  My calorie burn is 300-400/day, I garden 2 days a week, and have been riding my Fitdesk 30-90minutes too. Trying to get in as much activity as I can!!

That's right! I forgot about the Nike app!! I just put it on my phone last week too  Oh geez, I will try it out Fri when I hit the track. Thank u :D

Shereta, not working legs on my non running days is really helping me when I do run. I was overworking them!
And I agree with Sue, as that is how I do it, I need my sweets too so I save a 100 cals after dinner to have something to enjoy and I look forward to it all day. It helps me to resist sugar during the day knowing that I will have something later. See if it helps you, but you really need to give it a few days to taper off the sugar ;)

Renee, don't worry about us! Keep up with what u need for your father. Are you planning a visit soon? I will continue to keep you two in my prayers. Good job continuing your workouts with all of this going on!!

Today I did a short run of 2 cycles consisting of 2.5 walk and 7 minute run. And then later in the day I did PS Legs.

I like everybody's new pics :)
It's weird how a few of us all were hurting at the same time, Renee, Mel, Sue and me. Glad we all listen to our bodies and may we achieve speedy recoveries

Gnite you all...Gina

Good morning - I did TB Tri-sets Lower Body as planned - that's a great little routine! I really enjoyed it especially because it was effective & only 40 minutes.

Gina - I tried out your calculation for the calories you should be eating to get to your goal weight, and its the third different number I've calculated this week. This calculation came out to 2260. The Workout Manager says I should be eating 2000. Then another calorie counting website says I should be eating 1500 calories. That's a huge difference. I'm so confuzzled. I guess its just a matter of figuring out what works for me.

I used to follow WW, so I've got that points system drilled into my brain and I often think of how many "points" I've eaten throughout the day. For me its easier to think that way than calories. Maybe I need to be more intuitive about how much I eat - stop eating when I'm almost full. Isn't that the ultimate goal anyways? Do we really want to be counting points/calories all our lives???

Anyways...I love PS too! Its an oldie but so good. BTW, I had tricep DOMS for two days following GS tris & chest!!

Renee - Hope everything goes ok with your Dad & the stress won't be too unbearable for you.

Melanie really that high? A few thoughts, did you subtract the last part with the age calculation? And did you use your desired weight and not your current weight?

I know, I have so many equations that I have acquired over the years to use and they all come out different. I have taken the average of them and used that before. I love to play with numbers, but I tweak em to what works and feels best for me. Sounds like you do the same.

When I hit my goal weight, I won't count calories any more as I think I would have an idea about what to eat. Altho, in the beginning I may as I add calories back in for maintenance. Then I'll only count them when I start to put a few pounds back on. That's the key!! Stop the creep before it gets out of control

I just did PS CH/SH/TRI and fatigued them at the end of the sets. Im going to do PS 2 more weeks and I look forward to next week! That's a good sign :D

Im off to go walk in the park with my friend. It'll be my cardio for the day as it is an easy scheduled day for me anyhow.

Have a great day and rockin workouts!!

Gina

Amy Bento's In the Ring this morning, I'm seriously addicted to this workout. Still trying to plan a rotation for the next month. I'm thinking the Gym Styles next week and then a few weeks of circuit work before restarting STS.

Knock wood, I haven't caught the injury bug, even though I fell off the step during high impact aerobic this week. Another one of my "ta-da" moments. I hope all of you recouping are back at your normal workout schedule soon.

Crossing my finger for a nice weather holiday weekend. I can feel the cycling season coming to a slow down. So excited Cathe's doing another spin workout. :)

Renee, I hope you're day is feeling better today!

Gina - this is why I should never to math first thing in the morning! I added a number when it was supposed to be subtracted. So the new number according to the calculation you gave is 1787. Makes more sense now!!
