!!!!!! Weightloss Challenge - Oct 12th

I listened to two very short hypnoses podcasts last night, and while they seemed a bit gimmicky and only seemed to state the obvious, there was a few points of interest that has me thinking. The first point was that mindless eating is really procrastination, a way of putting off things that seem too big or too stressful to deal with. It's a way of putting yourself in the present moment. The second, more import point, was dealing with the conscious and unconscious mind. I need to do some reading and podcast listening in this area, because it really interests me and seems to be the logical way to stop stress eating. If I reach an epiphany, I'll share it with you next week. I feel so new-age-y.

Yesterday was STS Back/Tris. I don't feel like working out this morning and have a long work day ahead. I may not workout at all today. Hopefully the weather will be nice for a really long bike ride tomorrow.

Sue, I'm so excited you have STS now! You're going to love it. Don't stress over all the pushups. My first time through, I would have to do the last few on my knees. Plus, all those pushups are only in Meso 1. They magically disappear for the rest of the program. Are you starting on Monday?

Melanie, I checked my MFP goals and changed them to 40/30/30 and then quickly changed them back to the MFP recommended. I'm not ready yet to give up my carb numbers. It looks like I'm set at around 55/25/20. I'll need to look at this more carefully soon, I need to get more serious about ratios. Thanks for the MFP tips. : )

Hey, yall. Still super busy. Things should calme down Tuesd. I did 2 miles walk yesterday. and today I did my own 3 round circuit of weights. Good sweat.

Today was another walk/run, 3.3 miles, estimate it's 50/50 of walking and running.

Tina I've never heard of stress eating as procrastination, it's an interesting idea. Did you feel like you were hypnotized? Not sure what it would feel like, if anything. I'll be interested to hear how that all goes for you. I looked at the workout manager and I have only about 1/4 the 1RM done so I'll be finishing those up before I start STS. Going to Academy tomorrow to get some lifting gloves and hopefully 1lb weights so I can get closer to the recommended loads. Also my bands are quite a bit shorter than Cathe's which makes it hard to do those Vs with good form. Hopefully I won't be spending too much!

Shereta I hope thing slow down for you soon, are you able to keep to the paleo plan while you're going going going? Good for you for fitting in workouts regardless :)

I'll be making another pumpkin pie tomorrow, this time with Alton Brown's crust recipe. Wish me luck!
 
Awesome 56 mile bike ride this morning. I concentrated on keeping my cadence over 100 instead of focusing on speed. We ended up with the same average speed as usual, just spun faster.

Sue, those two hypnoses podcasts did not make me feel at all hypnotised. It was just some weird music and an annoying voice speaking softly. There is a totally different podcast where you need to focus on a pinpoint and blur your eyes, but I couldn't do that at work. I'll try it this week if I can find 20 minutes of quiet. Don't sweat over your 1 rep max. After I finished mine and then started the program, I found just going a few pounds over what I normally lifted worked fine. I also try to focus on what Cathe's lifting and match it as best I can. I really hope you like the program. Did you order Xtrain?
 
awesome ride Tina! I bet you're happy for all your outdoor rides since its getting late in the year. I hope you have more luck w the hypno podcast you have left, annoying voice would be a deal breaker. I'm going to take a week to do the 1RM, I like to color in the lines where I can. I figure I should be able to at least do them for the first meso in a week doing one body part per day. I'll also take my measurements and weight to get starting numbers.

My life has finally slowed down. Paleo got knocked to the side due to no time to shop. But, I just got back from store and am restocked on fresh fruit, veggies and lean meat.

I don't know what I'm planning for a workout tomorrow, but I should get a good one in.
 
Hi ladies, quick checkin. Did a bunch of 1RMs, nothing else. I'll do more of that tomorrow (different muscle group) and a walk/run. Tina I forgot to answer your question, yes I preordered xtrain, but I have a feeling it'll sit for a while before I'm brave enough to take it on. Shereta good for getting back to the grocery store and on track! Hi to Melanie, I hope you're doing well :)

Today, I did a shortened version of STS TB. I think I need to get ample weight work in weekly. I so easily grab a cardio. But, I hope to get in weights 2-3 times a week.

Hi everyone (Tuesday today),

Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of days - just a little busy at work and home...

Let's see - on the weekend I did a 15K run plus STS TB. I'm not sure I really like that workout. There is so much equipment, and it moves quickly between sets. I was pausing often to make sure I had the right weights, and to make sure I wouldn't trip over my equipment!

Yesterday was To the Max and today was Bootcamp (from the Intensity series).

Shereta - I too am trying to focus more on weights and few long cardio sessions. I still like my long runs on Sunday though, so I'm not going to change that. I'm doing two circuit workouts a week along with a total body strength dvd once a week. Plus really trying to focus on my core (ugh...)

Tina - your ride sounds awesome! 56 miles is truly incredible, you should be so proud of yourself. How's your daughter doing with keeping up her workouts? You are probably more inspirational to her than you realize.

I hear you on the cardio/fat/protein ratios on MFP. Many times my carb intake goes from 45 - 50%. But I'm aiming for 40%. Its surprising how many carbs fruit has. Since I've started MFP I find myself eating less fruit, and more veggies. I eat probably 1 - 2 pieces of fruit per day. I used to eat 3/4.

My weigh-in is Friday, so hopefully I'll see some results. I really should start taking pictures - I'm sure that'll be more exciting than the scale.

Sue - How are you finding the 1RM testing? You are going to LOVE STS. Its so much fun to see the improvements you can make over time. I know that those push-ups can be a little intimidating.

Melanie, I'm with you, it's so nice checking in with you ladies! Walk/run only today, never found the time for 1RM, I need to make the time. I like the idea of knowing what weight one should be using, very scientific :). Honestly it has taken me about 2 hours to get through STS TB each time I've done it, so the equipment changes are a grind, but it does help to print out the workout card in advance. I'm regretting my purchase of a threaded barbell, I wish I'd gotten a clip one. Oh well, live & learn.

Shereta nice job getting the weights in, are you back to clean paleo eating? Have you found any yummy recipes you want to share?

Hi to Tina! Are you recovered from that 56 mile ride? Why is it called riding anyway? Sounds so passive!

I will do abs & 1RM tomorrow, I really will! Ciao :)
 
I know that friday is supposed to be my weigh-in day, but I decided to weigh myself this morning, and I'm down 2 pounds! So, since we started this challenge in June, I'm down 10 pounds.

Feeling good about that - the progress has been really slow, but its nice to see that in total I've lost 10 pounds. Can't wait for the next 5 to come off!!
 
Todays workout was CCC. Im not fond of that workout, but needed cardio and core work. Glad its over.

I'm back to Paleo today. I was feeling sick yesterday and had canned soup. On Paleo, canned soup is a no-no. But i couldnt make homemade. No time for that. Anyway, Im sticking to basic stuff. I've not found any good recipes yet. too busy. Got to keep it simple for now.
 
No workout for me today, will get it done first thing tomorrow so it's out of the way and nothing can interfere. Congrats Melanie on the writ loss :) and to Shereta for doing CCC even though you don't enjoy it. Hi Tina, I hope you're dong well!
 
Good morning ladies! Today is some form of cardio, not sure what yet. Yesterday was STS legs, STS P&W abs, and BC upper and lower premix. Just a twinge of doms today. : )

Melanie, congratulations on the weight loss! 10 lbs. is awesome! I'm stuck on -7. I've been on this plateau since June. I need to refocus on diet, but my motivation in this area just doesn't exist right now. I hear you about STS TB, I just haven't been able to warm up to that workout.

Sue, can you take your barbell back? Another quick trick when you need to micro-load your barbell, is to wrap ankle weights around the bar and/or use weighted gloves. Your start date is getting closer! : )

Shereta, good for you for getting through CCC. I traded that one a long time ago.

Shereta - I hope you're feeling better. Tackling CCC when you're not feeling great is a huge challenge, so awesome job! I gotta put that one in my rotation soon. Its tough, but effective.

Do you find on paleo that you're eating less fruit?

Tina - I can't believe all you did the other day - WOW!!! How are you enjoying STS? How many times is this for you now?

Sue - did you get your workout in? How did your pumpkin pies turn out?

I have a recipe for gingerbread cream pie that I'm dying to make, but it is RICH!!! Full of whip cream, butter & sugar. I think I'll save that recipe until I have some people over for dinner then I won't be tempted to eat the whole thing myself.

This morning was Intensity for me. I'm feeling really good about it - I remember when I first tried Intensity, I struggled to get through the first portion of the workout (step). I took many breaks. But this morning I did the entire workout with no breaks. It almost felt easy!! I think its the Hiit training that I'm doing every week.

My Paleo says to limit fruit to 1 per day which is what I've always done for weight loss. Sometimes I have two.

I did the Firm's Firm and Burn. A 40 cardio/weights dvd. Its fun and normally burns a lot of calories. Today I only did the toning portions. Very good.

Sorry, I don't do personals often. I'm just trying to check in for right. Good grief -- so busy.
 
Hey, yall. Today's workout MMA Boxing. I skipped the cardio blasts to save my legs for the run tomorrow. Still sniffling. Im sure it's allergies. Ho- hum. PMSing and my weight is still the same. poo
 
hi ladies! I'm plugging along with the 1RM stuff. I'll start STS on Monday but may be finishing up 1RM as I go along, I'm much slower at it than I anticipated. I'm PMSing right now so I'll be starting STS while MSing, not sure if that'll make any difference.

Tina you may not be in the mood to work on nutrition but might be able to find 1 small thing you could change. Maybe you need to prime the pump? Being on a plateau means you aren't gaining and that's an accomplishment in itself, at least for me. Your workouts this week sound intense, are you doing STS++? :) I have a habit of shredding receipts and I've used the barbell for a couple of months now so I can't return it. I'll sell it eventually and get a clip model, it'll be a reward for some future good deed :). Thanks for the info on the ankle weights, I would have never thought of that!

Melanie Nice job on Intensity! I'm a serial pauser with that workout :). You give me hope that I can improve! That gingerbread recipe sounds yummy, have you invited company yet? My pumpkin filling is good, crust needs work, but I keep getting better at it. I can't wait until after the holidays I can stop practicing :) How are you doing on limiting your cardio?

Shereta I think I missed earlier in the week you weren't feeling well. I hope you're back to 100%! No worries on the lack of personals, we know you're sending us your good vibes :)

Hey, Yall. Glad to see everyone is still in the weightloss game.

I did a trail run with DH today. I walked some after 3miles. not enough rest last night. Ended uup doing 6 and burned over 1600 calories. Must find good carbs and more caffeine. It's chilly here in Ga. Got to pull out the fall clothes as well.
