Weightloss Challenge Now til Dec 31 - Aug 3 Thread

Woot Melanie! Are you going to do another round of STS after you finish? Have you ever done a different STS rotation? I'm starting to miss my old favorites like Drill Max and High Step Challenge.

Today was a really bad day of eating. I resisted the urge to go spin late tonight to burn some of it off. Tomorrow's a new day and I'll just try harder on Wednesday. I think staying up late every night to watch the Olympics is taking its toll on me.

Good news is I didn't hear any shoulder snapping during kickboxing today. Plyo Legs tomorrow, so arms will have a two more days to rest.

Look forward to hearing what you're all up to tomorrow. : )

Good Morning,

Its Wednesday - two more days until weigh-in. I've decided to try shaking things up a bit. I had really good success when I was doing two lower body strength training routines per week. Since I've started running, I thought I'd only need to do one.

But, I gotta try to change things up and hopefully that will shock my body and help me get off of this plateau.

This morning I did Lower Body Blast - I haven't done that one in ages. I'm happy I did it because I realized how much I needed it. Even though I'm running, I still need to work on that lower body.

Tina - That sucks about your tough day yesterday, but I'm glad to hear you're determined to have a better day and keep things under control. Lack of sleep really plays a number on our health, and weight loss. There are lots of good articles on the internet explaining why lack of sleep causes our bodies to hang on to fat. Its really interesting to learn. Once you realize what you're doing to your body by staying up to watch the Olympics or something else, then it'll be easier for you to just turn everything off and go to bed!

OK, that's my lecture for the day!!! Have a great day everyone.

Happy Wednesday, Yall. Already at work so I cant hang out here.

Today's workout was Trisets Premix - love that one and knocked off 8 minutes by working ahead of Chatty Cathe. woohoo.

Hi everyone! I lost half a pound! woot woot! Eating clean, staying on plan. Monday was Intensity step only, Tuesday 4DS kickboxing + abs, Yoga relax today. Moving workouts to mornings hasn't happened this week, has any other night own try to change their ways? Any strategies that work?

Shereta - nice job on the sprints! How do you choose your race pace? To beat your best time or to place well? Or both? Are you getting enough sleep?

Tina & Renee - how's your eating? best to shrug off a bad day and get on with the next. We're human :)

Melanie - good luck shocking your body, I think it's good to go back to the things that have worked in the past.

g'night

Hi Everyone!! I am sooo sorry I have been MIA  Life got unbearably busy. I scheduled all of my dr, dentist, chiro, hair appts in the same week and then a few interviews got thrown in all while preparing for our huge family reunion my mother hosts so... I focused on getting my workouts in and kept my online time to a very bare minimum :(

I just got caught up reading all of the posts I've missed. I have to tell you that you guys have shown progress!! It may not be showing up on the scale, but your accomplishments say otherwise...
Shereta you are still doing awesome with your running and getting faster.
Melanie 9.75miles....totally awesome!
Renee you're back to running?! Must feel good. About your PF, cuz I have bouts with it too. It actually started to flare up a lil last week. Here is a very simply and cheap thing you can try. Take a golfball and with the bottom of your foot roll it around for 5-10 minutes applying a lil pressure. Two balls and you can do both feet at the same time! See if that helps. It has for me at times. Maybe throwing in a short walk breaks in your jogging may help too.
Tina applaud yourself for hanging with the "big dogs" for 10 miles!! Shoulders are not to be messed with!! I still have residual problems from a partial rotator cuff tear and it is not fun! Glad you listen to your body.
Sue you are able tokeep running longer with your program!

GREAT JOB LADIES :D

I finished STS last week. Yippee!! This week I started a home-made rotation that focuses on a freestyle type training for my lower body meaning I work my legs 5x/wk. That is where I hold my weight...belly, hips and thighs! since you guys all posted: I am 5' 5.5" and weighed 162 today. My goal is to lose 20# or 2 dress sizes. I am 41. We all seem to be about in the same age and weight group!

I also started a 10k training program and do that 3x/wk. Im finally not feeling so scared to run and I'm actually starting to enjoy it! I do one long slow run which I did in the park on Monday and loved being outside. I usually do it all on the treadmill. I do one speed interval on the treadmill so I can control the mph. And then I do one easy run which I hope to start doing on the trails this Fri instead of the treadmill. I insert walking breaks in all of them which helps me to run further and longer. I just printed out the registration forms for a 5k at the end of Sept and a 10k for the end of Oct. Now, when I get the courage I'll send them in ;)

Ok. I think my goal will be to try and post something even if short and sweet so you guys now that I am still here supporting you all!

Hello ladies!
My eating could b better but it is better then it was Sunday! One of u said it may be closeto tom. Well you are right started today. No weigh in for me. I did push pull yesterday and today ttm love that one I did low impact premix but I added the core to it.
I'm still tracking along. Congratulations On the 1/2 pound! Yeah you! Lol I know that is a wonderful feeling watching it go down!

GINA.. HELLO ...sounds like u r rocking in the workouts. Did u see a difference after sts at all? Oh about my pf. I do the ball. Ice and rest. Thanks. Problem now is I heard it pop 6 weeks ago trying to jog across the street! After that I couldn't walk again. I went to doctor next step is surgery but I now have a different pain its on top of foot feels broken. Sounds weird but I have to ware shoes I can't go barefoot. If I sit to long it hurts. Almost like my heel and foot are not connected anymore. It doesn't hurt when I exercise now.. well. Somethimes but mostly after sitting and hour like at work or sleep. Scary at times.

Hey, Yall. Rest day today. Only got 4.5 hours sleep last night. I'm going to write out my fuel plan and vow to stick to it today.

I choose my race pace by how I feel. In a perfect race, I would like to run 9 min mile and progress from there. I have bounts of running 10 right when I do intervals. That feels hard but not over the top.

My average right now is a 12:45. And I'm good with that cause that's just where I am. I mean really - Im 45 lbs pounds over weight and I've only been running consistently for 4-5 months. I'm pleased with my progress.

When I was in the Marine Corps, my best time was a 6.7 min mile. That was 20 years ago. Wow, I was fast. Even then, I was not a serious runner. I only ran when we did unit runs together. But, I did other workouts to stay in shape.

My husband says, "The older we get, the better we were." hahahahahahaha

Hey Gina! Great to have you back! Sounds like you had a massively packed week - but that is so awesome that you kept up with your workouts. Congrats on finishing STS - you should be so proud of yourself!! What a huge accomplishment - so...we all want to know - how do you feel after finishing it?

I hope you work up the courage to send in those registration forms for the runs. Honestly, you can do 5K NO PROBLEM!!!

Sue - really glad to hear about your 1/2 pound and sticking to eating clean. Just out of curiosity, what are you eating for snacks?

Tina - I didn't answer your question about what I plan to do after STS. I was thinking of doing a few weeks of Gym Styles, mixed with running, Cross Fire, TTM, Athletic Training, AfterBurn, HIITs and Cardio Super Sets, plus an extra lower body workout per week like Lower Body Blast, Butts & Guts Total Body Tri-Sets (Lower body). I know what you mean about missing other workouts. I have only done Cross Fire once, so I want to get good at that one.

Shereta - Its good that you're not focused on comparing yourself now with how you were 20 years ago. You have such a good attitude about fitness & your health, and that is so important. Hope you get some rest and feel rejuvenated.

Renee - just wanted to say 'hi'! Glad you're with us on this check-in. Take care of that foot!!!

Alrighty then, I'm off for the morning. I'll try to get some work done. Have a great day. :)

Not feeling it today

Terrible night sleeping, then didn't get up on time to go out & run/walk. Downhill from there. I tried to do an Intensity premix this afternoon, but was just a bumbling mess. So I downshifted to Basic Step and couldn't get that right either! But I did get in about 40 minutes of movement, I'll take it.

Gina - so happy to see you back here! Congrats on finishing STS, what an accomplishment! Do tell us how it's affected your body. Send in those registration forms! If you're interested enough to find, print & fill them out you do want to run those races. So do what you want :)

Renee - do you have your surgery scheduled? Your feet have to support you for the rest of your life so take care of them :)

Shereta - just think how powerful a runner you'll be when those extra pounds are gone! That's definitely something to look forward to.

Melanie - I haven't been snacking very much, but when I do, peanut butter is usually involved :) 1 TBSP is a half serving of PB. I use an actual measuring spoon because it's a high-fat & calorie snack. Using a table/soup spoon is too much. I lick it like a lollipop. If I'm hungry I'll eat it with a piece of fruit (apple, banana, watermelon are in the line-up right now) to get fiber. I haven't been eating fruit by itself lately, if I do I'll get a crash shortly after.

Hi to Tina!

Sue

Finishing STS was HUGE!! That was my first round AND my first ever Cathe rotation!! Heck, that was pretty much the first rotation I have EVER finished!! So, it has me feeling pretty good. I definitely gained strength!! My weight didn't budge cuz I really had a pretty bad few months of overeating, dieting, then binge cycle going on. But finishing it has gotten me motivated to go back through my other w/os and see how I have improved. I have to admit tho, STS may have made me a lil over confident cuz even tho I can lift heavier now, Cathe still kicks my butt and I had to eat a lil humble pie through my first non-STS weight w/o

Mel and Sue thanks for the encouragement to register for the races. Sue, you're right, I do wanna do them. I just gotta get over the fact I just probably won't be finishing very fast & get over my irrational fears!! And Melanie, Im sure I can do a 5k like you said! Thanks guys :D

Renee so sorry to hear about all of your foot issues! You are definitely worse off than me. I hope it can be resolved or at least controlled for you.

Sue we all have days like that!! Today I woke up and I just knew that there was no way I was going to be able to w/o. I needed a day off! And you just need to listen to your body. this was a need to rest not an excuse to be lazy as I have had to learn the difference !! LOL ;)
I take a 5HTP and Melatonin supplement to help me sleep and I have gotten some of the best night's sleep. You can also take some Benadryl to knock you out too. I don't like prescription stuff and it is really a last resort/temporary solution.

Shereta wow, Marine Corps?! Impressive. And 6.7? Also impressive! But our abilities do change as we age as you well know. As long as you do your best and keep working it - just like you are - then you are doing GREAT!! When I did my outside run the other day, it had a few hills and I clocked in at 13 min/mile. so, we could be running partners! That would be nice! I've realized for my goals that they are good to have, but this is for life and there is no deadline for me to get to a certain distance or speed just when my body is ready to reach it.

Sooo great to be back! You guys are awesome :D

Trotchase nice job completimg sts! I know all to well about binge eating ..grrrr lol.
Yeah someone ask anout my surgery.... not scheduled they said if it don't heal then they'll do surgery because we have already tried ball ice stretch and rest and shots
I have to say I don't want surgery because I already had surgery about 10 yrs ago on both feet for a different issue but it has caused me to be imbalanced doing lunges
Legs used to be my fav thing to work ..not anymore to hard to be stable. I had bunion removed and hammer toes broken and reset. So the little toe side has a piece of bone gone on both feet. It burns on that side deep in the Bone. So I'm really not liking surgery idea. So I do what can til. It hurts bad and I have to stay off of it or cycle.
Man you ladies are really doing well on this weight loss. Wtg!
I did push pull today yesterday I did ttm lower impact mo core premixbut went back and did the core chapter. I wonder why they took the core out of that premix? Well tomorrow will be step blast. I'm gonna do that ome every week til it is super easy to me. Last time I tried I made it to last blast. Almost done! Seems like when I first got it 5 months ago I did it all the way. Hummm. Lol.
Night my friends!
