Weight loss check in- week of 12/23

Now you know I have nerve starting this thing and I have no loss to report! :)

I didn't really expect to have one, but I can always hope can't I? My eating is improving, but I did have a few "off" days last week. I'm looking forward to the new year and I plan on finalizing my weight loss goals next year, I'm thinking I should go for setting really small goals like 5# in "X" weeks or something and shoot for those smaller increments rather than saying, "I want to lose 30# in 2003!" I think 5# at a time is more do-able and not so intimidating.
Anyone else game? You know I always do better when I feel I'm not alone guys! Like the ice cream thing, just thinking about others giving up their favorite goodies was enough to keep me from giving in and now I'm ice cream free thanks to you guys! So a "mini goals weight loss" thing might work the same way for some of us? :)

Anyway, hope everyone else had a good week, I'll check back in and give some thought to a "mini goals" joint venture! :)

Donna

p.s. Marci~hope you're feeling better, I've been thinking about you! :)

Good morning,

My first week of checking in with you ladies. I didn't lose anything either, Donna. BUT today is the first day of TTOM & I don't have a gain either so I feel like that says something. What it says, I don't know but it's something.

I only got in 4 workouts last week, 2 cardio & 2 strength. I keep my eating pretty good. I kept it below 1800 calories every day except one according to fitday.com. And according to WW if you multiply points by 70 (their average calorie for one point), I kept it below my maximum allowable everyday. So, I hope to start seeing a weight loss soon!!!!

Take care & have an awesome holiday everyone!

I'm ready to take the next step! http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein_1/a_smil09.gif

Donna, hey at least you had the courage to face the scale. I am feeling better, thanks for asking. I think it will take a while to totally feel like myself but having to face routines and take care of my kids helps me get going. I had a friend who last week gave birth to her first baby full term and the baby was dead at birth- the umbilical cord was around the babies neck and strangled before birth. I visited her over the weekend. That really put perspective on things and made me appreicate what I have and how lucky I am to have my 3 healthy kids. It was so good for both of us to get together.

I ate surprizing well this week. I say surprizingly because in the past when I am stressed I would turn to food. I had pizza one day (ok 3 slices) but other than that I ate pretty well and kept it below 2,000 calories each day. I worked out again last night for the first time in 10 days.

Next week I'll weight in. With all the hormone shifts plus I just started taking birth control pills again last week I'm not going near that scale today. But I'm betting by next Sunday hopefully it will show a loss.

Marci- Hearing your positive attitude is wonderful. I can not imagine what your friend is going thru, I will keep her in my prayers.

Getting Fit, & Donna- This time of year, maintaining is great!!! So many people Gain, Gain, Gain!!!!

Well, I will say I had a great week. Last week I maintained, and this week I showed a 4 lb. loss. I almost fell off the scale. I figured last week I was retaining water, and I was right. I got up and down on the scale, put my feet in different positions, pressed harder, and the scale never changed the number. I am at a all-time low for me. I haven't weighed this low in 3 years. This week is going to be hard, but with my WW's points I am going to do the Wendie Plan so I can have a high point day on Weds. I have a few treats in mind to bring to my mom's so I can eat like the others. Have a great week everyone.

Wow Lori, a 4# loss! Congratulations! :)

And Gettingfit, we may be stuck on the same number, but at least we're maintaining, and I always say, to maintain is better than a gain! :)

Marci: You sound good, I'm glad, and that's a big plus not reverting to old eating patterns like eating out of stress! That's a big plus! As women it's usually one of the first things we do to comfort ourselves, so you should be really proud of yourself for staying on track! :)

Okay~so NO ONE is willing to try the 5# mini goals with me? NO ONE? It's okay, the thread is still early, I won't push yet! :)

Hi everyone! I have been out of town for a while and haven't checked in for a week or two. But I have still been on track. I lost a pount this week. Which isn't a lot, but better than nothing, right? So far since I started WW I have lost 7 pounds. I'm averaging a pound a week, which seems so slow but with nursing I guess that is the way to go. This week will be a challenge for us all. Let's just enjoy a few treats but not go overboard!!

Donna- I read your other thread about overtraining and I tend to think you are. I have a feeling that your body might shed a few pounds if you give it a break. Also I am very interested in your five pound loss idea. I am so close to being in the 170s. I sort of see my weight loss in five and ten pounds increments.

Gettinfit- Glad you joined us. I always enjoy reading your posts. A fellow WWer!

Marci- happy to hear you are recovering well. You have been through a lot emotionally and physically so give yourself time.

Lori- big congrats on your four pound loss. That is incredible. Will you fill me in on that plan you were talking about? I'm not at a plateau yet, but I'm still interested.

Hope everyone else checks in. Let us know, good or bad! Love, Heather

LAST EDITED ON Dec-23-02 AT 12:39PM (Est)[p]Marci - glad to hear you are feeling better.

Lori - big congrats...its nice to see a payoff after working hard.

Donna/Gettingfit - your time will come.. hang in there!

As for me, I loss another 2 lbs this week. My metabolism has finally woken up and I think this is the first holiday that I've felt in control in a long time.

PS Donna.. I'd be happy to join in the mini challenges. I actually had joined a challenge on another board for the period between Halloween and New Years. I set my goal at 10 lbs, about a 1 lb per week and I'm almost there! It seems to work well for me rather than focusing on the big #.

Hope you all have a happy and relaxing holiday!!

This should tell you all about it. I am not plataeuing, but by following this plan, you get one day of higher points. That way Christmas will be my high point day, and I can still stay on program and have a few treats!!!!

Here is my treat, and these are yummy and good for you. Melt 4 Hershey's chocolate bars in the micro, in a big bowl(the regular sized bars). Add 2 cups of Fiber One, and a 1/2 c. of raisins. Mix it all together, and put them on wax paper, in the refrigerator. This makes 16 cookies, and each one is one point, no matter how many you eat. I got this off there message boards. They are very good!!!

Hi All,

Before I begin, may I just send my thoughts to Marci - I have been thinking of you over the past couple of weeks - it will take time to heal, my thoughts are with you.

I haven't posted for a couple of weeks now :-( BUT I have nothing good to report. I have been so busy with family life, Christmas preparations that I don't know where the past 2 weeks have gone to ????????? My exercising has suffered, my diet has been OK-ish, I have not gained weight, which is good, AND I like Donna's idea of 5# losses at a time (Count me in), and I am already planning my goals for 2003 ! We will see, I managed to improve myself psychologically over 2002, maybe 2003 will be the year I physically imporove myself ? Come Hell or High Water, I am going to give it my best shot !!!!!!!!!!!!! 2003 - here I come !

Love and best wishes to all of you - thankyou for making my newbie presence a welcome one, and I hope to report progress in the New Year !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anna :)

Welp, I finally ate myself into oblivion enough to gain a pound of pure unadulterated fat this week.

So, I'm definitely going to start going to Weight Watchers at the first of the year (which is right around the corner, thankfully). I have been really good about working out but eating is another story.

Before I start Weight Watcher's, though, I want to get rid of this 1#!!! One lousy pound is not a lot to lose, but that is my goal before the end of the year.

Darn the holidays! The holiday stuff all around finally got me. I can't wait until they're over.

Hi! Can I join back in? It has been 6 months since I left the states to live in Germany... and boy do I need the support and wisdom you guys are so great at!!!

I had gone from 265 to 180-something by June of 2002. Now, after 4 months of hotel room-service food and little exercise I'm back at 200. But now I"m in my own home, I have my workout gear, I bought a dual-voltage tv and dvd player, and I even have internet access! I'm set and ready to go - and working out and being inspired by you guys are my Christmas presents to me!!!

Merry Christmas to all and to all...great thighs!

Katie

Katie.............

Hi Katie and Merry Christmas :)

Sounds silly to say since we only know each other "cyberly" but "I've really missed you and your posts!" :)

I'm so glad you're back online and there are some really great "newcomers" that are going to be a pleasure for you to meet. :)

My eating has "sucked" for weeks, I haven't lost a pound in so long I've forgotten what it feels like! But I have a plan for the new year and hopefully a few others here will join me (misery loves company :)) and maybe the scale will start moving again! (okay~down of course, the last thing I need is for the cosmos to hear me say it and jokingly make the scale go up!)

See ya Monday, someone usually gets it started on Monday mornings, usually whoever is first online just gets it started.

Happy Holidays :)

Donna

RE: Katie.............

I missed you too! Yours were the first posts I looked for, and the weight loss thread - knowing that no matter which way the scale went - you'd be there with a positive attitude and a plan.

So, I'll be here Monday with a food and exercise plan to report...and then all through 2003! Can't wait to "meet" everyone and catch up.

Katie
