This video clip is from Cathe's Thursday, June 1st "Athletic Conditioning" live workout and is our 151st live broadcast. This will be similar in feel to my Athletic Training DVD. After some intense "easy to do" step conditioning drills we'll continue the challenge with metabolic conditioning drills. This workout will test your stamina, burn body fat & make you SWEAT!!!

Equipment needed:

A full sized step at 8 inches for the step conditioning drills (we will add another riser to each side after the step conditioning drills).
Various weighted dumbbells
A paper plate or gliding device
A fitness mat

This one looks fun...and for the moves I'll need to modify, I think I'll know exactly what to do because of previous
Modifications that Cathe has shown in the DVDs. :) (at least from what I see in the clip)

I ended up watching most of this one this evening and I think it's gonna be a fun one! It was great to see Marlo,
I have missed her in the last series. I kept sitting here thinking, "is that Marlo?" And finally Cathe said her name,
And yep, it was her. Jesse is there too, it was great to see him again too.

Did this workout this morning and LOVED it!! I was drenched in sweat [emoji97] by the end! It was similar to the DVD w/o but not near as repetitive, which for me is always a dread-factor. It was upbeat & music was fun. Awesome metabolic moves which made the time fly. Cathe did mention it's not a strength
w/o but there were weights used, but more for the heart rate. I marked this as a "favorite" for a calorie-scorcher due to the pace & being almost 1 hr long-plus a unique mish-mash core at the end.

Just did this one this morning-it was so much fun! I agree it didn't feel like as much repetitiveness as the DVD. I enjoyed the step segment so much more than AT. I was breathing hard throughout & thought each segment was going to do me in-by the end it just about killed me so that is one awesome workout-one of my faves!!!

Athletic Conditioning
Duration
56 min
Workout type
Cardio Strength Total Body

This is a full cardio and strength workout. The first 16 min is a cardio step workout and its really fun. I did not use a riser for this and some of the moves were done on the floor, like the turning power squats, the squat cha cha (across the step) were done on the floor. The Knee off side & lateral hops across step x6 / knee off the back was done completely on the floor. I still got my hear rate pumping. Why are tricep dips so hard (crying) ?!!

I did not use the gliding device because I needed to be more stable. I've noticed that as I am getting older, stability becomes an issue, so I need to be a little more stable on certain exercises. I still got my workout done. The Squat thrust plank jacks I modified it doing the push ups on the knees (no plank jacks for me) and it still worked great.

The whole core section, I modified a lot of the moves, because I was exhausted.
Some of my modifications for core:
  • Plank shoulder snatch - Alternating knee crunches
  • Piston planks (in straight arm plank..) - Side crunches on the floor
  • Reverse crunch hip lift & layout crunch- I did simple reverse crunch and legs out
  • Spiderman climbers - simple low impact climbers
  • Crossover planks - simple planks
