Very Ashamed

I hate to admit this but I would like some input, I don't mean to come off vain or anything. I have been working out and watching my diet and for the life of me I can't get rid of that pouchy tummy! I have made an appointment to see what a mini tummy tuck can do for me. I have workedout so much that I have so sore knees that it is hard for me to walk again without limping. I also was considering doing a Breast Augmentation, I am right now a training bra size and that is no lie. There is not a bra that is made that will fit me at all.
Has anyone ever done anything this drastic before. if so what were your results? and how quickly the recovery? my upper abs are toned and defined just my lower abs will not give. I do ab exercise that I can get my hands on.

Don't be ashamed- if this will make you feel better then start interviewing drs. Look at pictures they've done before and talk to previous patients. Just make sure you're very specific about what you want to have done. You work out and are healthy which would make you a good candidate... its your body and if you can change something about it to make yourself happy, why not?:)

Just a tip: Make sure your doctor is board certified and do a check on him just to be sure. There are many great doctors but some not so great ones as well.

Bodies come in all shapes and sizes. There are some things that we have no control over due to genetics. If plastic surgery will help you feel better, then do what you need to do. Just keep in mind that being healthy is the primary goal of working out, not looking like a supermodel. And those supermodels dont look perfect in real life either-- so don't be fooled by the unrealistic media perception of what women need to look like. I have small breasts and feel no shame, thats the way I was created. I also do not have perfectly flat abs and probably never will! I can accept that and live my life. I feel good because I take care of myself but I know that I will never look "perfect" (at least not perfect to the media or hollywood standards). Give yourself some slack, otherwise you can have multiple surgeries and you will never be happy with yourself.:)

It's your body, and you have every right to do what you want to it. But take another look at "real people" around you, not those that have had surgery to look the way they do. There are lots of tummy pooches (even on otherwise fit people, including me!), and breasts come in all sizes and shapes.

Also, if you are considering breast augmention, realize that you will have to get the implants replaced at least every 15 years (and that's if you're lucky, many fail after 10, and some after 3). Are you willing and able to go through surgery again latter?

Hi lesliemarie, my question is how long have you been working out? I know some women have to work their abs everyday for a few yrs to get their abs where they want them. I don't know how long you have been at it. But if surgery is your only alternative then thats your choice. Hope everything works out for ya. ........ Rhonda:7

Hey, I say way to go! I wouldn't mind having that done once I'm done having kids. Mainly because my stomach sags and is all wrinkly now thanks to extra skin. And I wouldn't mind a boob lift if they can do that. Just to get them back to perky, or at least to not sag all the time. Of course that isn't going to happen now, but maybe someday..

Anyway, you do what you want with your body. Don't let anyone stop you. If it will make you feel better about yourself, go for it! Don't be ashamed, you have worked your A** off literally, so if you want a little extra medical help, you deserve it. That is my opinion. So there! LOL!

Go easy on yourself, try to let go of any shame, there is nothing to be ashamed of. I can only repeat what has been said here, it is YOUR body, nobody knows what it is like to live in your skin but you. I have considered the tuck because, quite frankly, I want to look as good as I feel (3 kids and 40 lost lbs overcame any recoil in my lower belly). The most important consideration is who are you doing it for, sounds like you are doing it for you and for your self esteem.
Knowledge is power and your asking here shows that you are seeking answers.
Learn and discern.

Hello,

Don't be so hard on yourself. I can say I don't know of any woman who doesn't work-out for a living that doesn't have a pooch. Even most aerobic instructors have it. I, personally, would be quite happy with a pouchy tummy. I was also pretty flat-chested before I had implants. (I had a masectomy with reconstruction). Personally, I'd take my real, nature, saggy little boobs over my new perky, enhanced ones any day. But if it would truly make you feel better about yourself, why not talk to an honest, QUALIFIED plastic surgeon? Implants do need to be replaced. My surgeon told me 10 years is usually the maximum life span for implants. Also, depending on your body, shape, the surgery itself, the implants used, your new breasts may turn out less than perfect also. Mine have a pea size herniated area near the bottom. I had to have a subequent surgery to "repair" that to keep it from eroding through the skin. It was also about a year before I couldn't "tell they were there" 24-7. It is an unnatural feeling. As for a tummy tuck, that was an option due to my specific situation for reconstruction. My surgeon told me that with one you will always have an increased risk for hernias. With my lifestyle and age, 36 and active, it wasn't the best choice for me. I would spend some time soul searching to see if you are truly unhappy with your appearance and this is all you need to make you feel better, or if something else is going on inside. After you consider the cons and pros, if you would be truly happy and you find a great surgeon, hey go for it!!

Blessings,
Denise

I am just going to take myself as I am. I have to much on my plate to even think of myself, I have my son I desperatly need to take care of, He needs me in the biggest way so I will workout and take what I have. I just let my self esteem get to me because I remember the names I endured in school, the girl with the smallest breast in the WHOLE school LOL and winning the "The Yound and the Breastless" Hey But I am proud to belong to the "Itty Bitty Club" LOL
and as for my pouch that isn't to bad and I can deal with it, I need to focus on my son. while he is going through DX'ing of his disorder. I am pretty sure they are going to diagnose him with ADHD and ODD!!! and then I have to learn a new way to deal with him and teach him new ways to deal with his frustrations and keep him from exploding and becoming violent, and then my older daughter needs my attention with her leg,
Boy I sure got dished out the stuff LOL, well I move forward with a smile on my face and then cry in the bathroom where no one can see.
Thank you all for your input I really appreciate that. as for exercising I need a good workout less stress on the knees that will help me calm my nerves and destress my mind. does anyone know of one? will yoga work for me?

Yoga is wonderful, try it!! I just got started with yoga this year and am really loving it. Before I could not sit still and i always carried a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. I can feel my body loosening up (slowly) with yoga and it is very relaxing as well. Try the DVD Yoga for Weight Loss with Suzanne Deason, great intro to yoga. The Yoga Zone videos with Alan Finger are wonderful-- Introduction to Yoga, Conditioning and Stress Release and Flexibility and Stress Release. These are great starting points. Once you get past these workouts, you may want to try Power Yoga as it is a bit more challenging. Power and Precision by Baron Baptiste is a great introduction to Power Yoga. Goodluck!

A friend gave me a mug one time and I thought of it when I was reading your last post. It surely applies to you also.
