Update on my kitten

Jasmin416

Cathlete
She is still missing and every day it gets colder. I've posted signs, called authorities, called for her in the evening hours all around the neighborhood. I don't know if someone would have taken her in. Everyday I cry over her and each day that passes makes it harder to believe she will ever come home. Its been almost 4 days now. I sit here crying right now. Her name is jasmin and I named my screen name here at cathe.com after her. She was the sweetest cat ever...that I EVER had. So playful and affectionate. My dog loved her too. Every time I see a little tuft of her fur around the apartment I cry. I miss her soooooo much. I'd even happily have her knock over a thousand glasses of water as she loved to do. I just lost my baby and I'm beside myself.

Don't give up hope. My Purrple was gone for a week and I was starting to get very upset. Now, she's an indoor/outdoor and has a habit of being gone for a couple days....but never a week. She came home. There's always hope that Jasmin will come back too. Cats are very smart and resourceful. If she doesn't come home, I'm sure it means someone has taken her in. That's a mixed blessing.

I lost a cat shortly after my daughter was born. He was not happy about the new addition and he took off. He was the coolest cat ever, and I was very upset. About a year later, my husband was walking Duke, and he ran into a cat that looked just like him down the street. The cat didn't run away from him, or Duke, it was our cat....living just a few houses down the street. We let him stay there because it was his new home and we had adopted 2 cats since then. It made me sad, but I was glad he found someone to take care of him.

You mentioned your dog. Is this a dog that is still around? If so, take him on your Jasmin search. Maybe he'll find her, or she'll find him?

I am so sorry about Jasmin. But don't give up hope just yet. Go door to door if you haven't already and check all those outbuildings. Usually they are not far from home. Have you thought of a have a heart trap? Sometimes your vet has one you can borrow or the town offices. My friends cat got out and she left her front door ajar, lined up plates of tuna and sat up all night on the couch waiting for him to come in. Well he did. Slowly eating the tuna along the way. Best wishes and prayers for Jasmin to come home soon.

Thanks for all the comforting words everyone! I just got done posting her picture by all the mailboxes (30+ hallways) in the nearby apartment community in case someone took her in. That was the last place I saw her. I've done all I can at this point and will just have to pray that she returns.

Tina

Tina - I was missing a cat for 8 weeks! Don't give up - keep saying your prayers. Keep the signs up. Sometimes offering a reward helps. I had all of the kids on the lookout - they were quite diligent about it.

Don't give up, she still may come back.

My Joey lost a cat one time. We traveled on our houseboat in Lake Powell for over a year, and he (Fritz) and my Mollygoo (dog) was with us. Mollygoo and Fritz quickly became best friends. Since Fritz was older than Molly he would get her into all kinds of predicaments. He would coax her up a steep hill and she couldn't get down, he would hug her to the floor so she couldn't move, only wiggle. But still she loved him very much. They always played and rough housed around, grabbed each others fur and slept that way, each with the others fur in their mouths. When we fished, Joey would always share with him some fish innards. Fritz just loved it.

We decided it was time to go home to our 5 acre wood, and since we got Fritz just before we went to Lake Powell, his home that he knew was Lake Powell. But as a good cat does, he enjoyed his days with us, no matter where we lived.

We had a neighbor that didn't tell us when she was coming over and she was too lazy to walk, so she drove her car. Fritz didn't like cars, so we told our neighbors to let us know before they come over, to give us a chance to put the animals in the house. Of course this particular neighbor, felt she didn't have to give notice, and came storming in with her car. Fritz freaked out and ran into the woods. He didn't come home and didn't come home. We would walk the woods everyday for a year and called to him before we finely gave up. We have a picture of Him and Mollygoo with their mouths full of each others fur and the houseboat in the background. We never found him, and our hearts still ache for him.

Life can be hard at times. Don't give up on your little girl yet, there is still a chance she will come home. And thank you for a chance to tell my story. I needed to vent, your story reminded me of our little guy.

(((((hugs and prayers your way)))))

Hurting for you! I am at day 12 of missing my Bosco. We moved across town a month ago (5 miles, small town!) and he'd been out several times, but didn't return Friday the 19th. I also have fliers posted, neighbors in the old neighborhood looking, and keep checking the pound. I am walking the dog in the new area while calling for him like a lunatic. I am an extreme pessimist by nature, but somehow am keeping hope alive that he will return. As so many have posted, cats are amazing! Everyone I've spoken with has a happy long lost pet return story. I will keep Jasmin in my prayers and hope that we will both have a happy New Year's reunion.

I'm so sorry....

I thought one of my cats was missing for 5 minutes last week, and was so upset!! (he was sleeping in a pile of my son's stuffed animals...)

I hope your story has a happy ending!!!!

Have you visited your old neighborhood and asked your neighbors to keep an eye out for him? I would not be surprised if he travelled back there.

I am so sorry, but don't give up hope. My cat went missing a couple of months ago and I was so worried and heartbroken. About 3 days later I was leaving my house, and there she was sitting on the front lawn as if she had never been away. I really hope you find her!!

I'm so sorry your kitty still hasn't come home. I like Kathryn's idea of taking your dog out to look for her. Why not try that?

Oh Tina, I'm so so sorry! I know I'd be absolutely devastated if one of my babies got lost! My heart goes out to you and I pray Jasmin finds her way home.

I wish I could make it better. (((((((((((hugs))))))))))

Janie--I'm so sorry for your loss. Some people don't understand the complete love that people like all of us here have for our babies. They are our children and it aches when they are gone. (((((((Hugs)))))))

Becky -- I'm sorry for your loss as well. Keep your hopes alive--as many others have shared their experiences of their lost babies finding their way home. I'll keep you and Bosco in my prayers. (((((hugs)))))

My heart is breaking for you!

I saw this on Good Morning America a few months ago. Apparently, they have a really high success rate. I don't know how much money you have to spend, but it might be worth it:

Good luck to you! I hope your baby comes back!

These are great ideas. I hate to say it after making such a stink over my cat being trapped in a neighbor's critter-catching cages several nights ago (I am STILL... miffed) but you might want to do just that. Get one of those critter-catching cages and line up open cans of tuna. I don't know how big or how old she is but even kittens outside go where the food sources are and they tend not to have a short roaming range. Heck, every kitty on the block stops by my porch to investigate the food dish. That's how I wound up with my youngest (Priscilla Puss-Puss, a tortoiseshell), who was a tinnie-tiny fuzzy ball when her people dumped her and moved(!). She'd gone completely wild so it took real effort to earn her trust, though you'd never believe it now. If your kitten is outside, the cage-and-tuna technique will draw her out, as long as the other neighborhood cats don't eat it all first. If not, I'm betting someone has her. Kittens are cute so if you want her back you'll need to be persistent. Keep up with the knocks on doors and signs. Make sure everyone knows this kitten is YOUR kitten. If someone's knows you're looking for her but withholding her, someone else (who's seen the signs) will snitch.

She's coming back home, with some noise and effort on your part.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Why do they DO THAT??? They disappear then just show up, licking their paws and looking at you with bored eyes, like "Oh... Can I help you?"
