Does your neighborhood have a "cat lady?" We have one and a lot of cats go missing. She believes that it is cruel to have cats roam the neighborhood and she traps them in life traps. The next day, she takes them to the vet and if they show up positive for anything she puts them down on the spot. Also, if she gets an intact animal, she spays them, too. Her house has over twenty cats in it and they rule the house. Litter boxes everywhere, it stinks. Her husband lives in a camper on the driveway. She leaves the windows uncovered so the cats can look outside and you would not believe how she lives. Yuck!

I hope your cat will be alright. Out indoor/outdoor cat went missing (in a different neighborhood) and he made it back after two weeks.

Here's another lost-pet-with-a-happy-ending story: when I was growing up, one of our indoor/outdoor cats fell asleep in the car (open windows in the summertime) unbeknownst to us. We went for a drive, and when we came to a stop, the cat was spooked, jumped out, and ran away. We were absolutely sick about it. A week later, to everyone's great surprise, she came bounding up the backyard. Had somehow made her way home through the woods. It's amazing the sense our animals have.
