Twitter Love

"Watching TV with my cat." :D !!!

I hate my FB status updates, especially the ones who constantly remind people they're at work. They're one of the reasons I only hit my FB page once a week.

"5:30 and still at work."
"Exhausted but have to finish report."
"Worked through lunch...cranky."

 Please. You want a medal for doing your job? Here...I'll clap for ya.

I recently started de-friending the people who never, ever talk to me but send me meaningless updates and weird invites.

Amen! At least someone sees the light.;):D

By the way, I was boycotting the rating system, but I just had to 5-star this one!

Maybe if they weren't twittering or facebooking (?) they wouldn't be at work til 5:30 :) I'm on facebook, but only because a lot of my family and friends are and that is where they post their pictures. But some of my friends, now keep sending me those damn games, quizzes, etc.

Lol! Pretty funny Laura!

I don't have a problem with anyone updating their status lines etc... You don't have to have all your friends status updates show on your home page anyways. Just hide them if you don't want to see them (put your cursor to the right of the update and click on "Hide so and so"). And if you don't like the quizzes, you can hide those too (same procedure), so they will not show in your home page anymore either.

If all you want is to see pictures and you really don't like any of the apps, status updates, quizes or games, then heck close the account out and get a Photobucket account.

That was funny! I am on Facebook but not twitter. I get a kick out of the updates. Most of them are fairly meaningful, but some of them...

I really don't get Twitter. I have an account but never post anything on it. I'm only following about 10 people and have yet to read anything interesting from them. The only twitter message I've ever heard about that really impressed me was the famous one of that American activist who was arrested in Egypt and all he said was "arrested". Because of that people around the world took immediate action to get him out. On the other hand I really love Facebook. I have reconnected with many of my old friends in Europe, my cousins and ex-colleagues from my last job. I have my fair share of friends who post every stupid little thing they're doing but with a lot of airline friends it's kind of fun to see where they're going today. I have many friends who are now flight attendants for US Air and it was GREAT to know immediately that they were not on the flight that landed in the Hudson. I ignore almost all the quiz and gift applications.

Oh and every week I post my STS progress on FB with the hope of turning someone on to Cathe and today I got a bite! My cousin asked where she could buy it so of course I referred her to cathe.com. She lives only two hours from Cathe's gym so maybe she'll become a new fan.

The status updates on Twitter are kind of fun only if you are following a small group of friends. I really like being subscribed to the news stations though. You can get breaking news sent to you as it happens - I follow CNN and a few other. I think that and the facts that you can also get updates on your flight status etc. sent to you via Twitter makes it a pretty interesting application.

Classic!! Love it! And I posted a link to it on my FB page!!

I rarely post a FB status because I figure no one really cares if I'm going to the store/gym/work/<insert place here>, but I do like to the other features of FB :)

I didn't know you could hide the status and quiz stuff ~ excellent! :)

My original complaint aside, I credit FB for reuniting me with some old friends. 3 of us have now committed to meeting for dinner once a month, which is something I really enjoy.

Oh Thank God someone finally said it out loud!!!! I am sure there are some people who use FB and twitter for real purposes, but come on.... most people are sitting there ALL day taking quizzes and posting that they just ate lunch

I don't get it. Who has that kind of time???? And frankly, who cares???? I am SAHM and I don't have time to do that all day. I just don't get it.

I have kids and homeork and school and sports functions. Laundry and dinners and housework etc etc etc. I can't imagine why in the world anyone would WANT to know that I just washed 4 loads of clothes!!!!

Then again, I'm getting older and may be looking at this from a different perspective. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my real friends, I can't be worried about CYBER friends too!!!!!!!!!

I looked at twitter but what with all the @bodystuff, @ body slim etc stuff mean????

ellie

OK, I have to be totally honest. I'm not entirely sure what Twitter is. I believe it's some text message thing where if you sign on to something somewhere you'll get text messages, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

I do not have a texting plan, & my cell is about 5 years old so I don't have one of those fancy-schmancy keyboard dial pads either.

I'm hoping to hold off on any & all technology until the 22nd century. Except Cathe's forum, of course. ;)

Hahaha, I saw that before! It's so funny/cute. I have both a facebook and a twitter, and I mostly use it to catch up with Cathe! I primarily use Myspace, I've had it for years! So I've built up a fan base on there....haha just kidding! I just have a lot of friends. Does anyone here use myspace?

Just out of curiosity, I signed up for Twitter (thinking I had to do so to see if certain people I knew where on it) and I now have two followers! (I haven't posted a darn thing, and don't intend to! What are they following?) I think I'll have to go and 'unjoin' ASAP, because this is silly!

For me, Facebook reconnected me with all my old classmates from the Detroit area and it's been great. Granted, passing the drinks have been a little much along with the IQ tests but I pass on all of those.
The "What are you doing?" I try to bypass unless it's important. One of my friend's from Detroit is getting his boat in the water and it's fun to read his input on the subject matter.
Not into Twitter (Nation) at all. Like I stated to Cathe, it can all be a little too much along with Linked In.
