Here is my STS dream (with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore)
‘Twas the night before STS,
And all through the house,
Shipping was tracked with the click of a mouse.
The weights were placed by the TV with care,
In hopes that the UPS man would soon be there.
My arms are tired, my legs feel like lead,
But visions of muscles danced in my head.
And I in my capris and Cathe tshirt
Was ready to sweat and ready to hurt!
When out on the street there arose a familiar whine,
It had to be the sound of the brown diesel engine.
The sun shining off the brown truck I know
Gave a luster to the delivery man, he actually glowed.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a beautiful brown package ---OH HOW DEAR!
When the driver said “it’s here at last!”
I knew in a moment it must be STS!
More fit than the fittest her crew they came
And she laughed, and shouted and called them by name
“Go Loraine, Go Brenda, Go Jai and Cedie
“Go Greg, Go Denise, Go Robert and Deazie”
“Push to the top of your one rep max,
“Do it now and fast or there’ll be more jumping jacks!”
And then, in a twinkling, I heard some stuff
Panting and Grunting and even a Huff.
As I picked up my weights and got ready to pound,
There she was, Cathe! She arrived with a bound!
She was smiling but her laugh was evil and tough,
“Come on, let’s go! You’ve been waiting long enough!”
Her eyes how they twinkled, her muscles how they popped!
“You better be ready, we’re going to work till you drop!”
“This is for that turkey and pie and cranberries too,
Off go those pounds, the muscles are coming through!”
As I lay there sweaty and tired, one hour later,
“Oh yeah,” she said “don’t forget you ate those sweet taters!”
And I heard her exclaim, as she drove out of sight
“What you do to one side you do to the other, right?”
