TTC/Preggers Week of May 25

Morris, I do NOT know how you do the Wo's you do as pg as you are! You're my inspiration! Good luck at your appt!

Trish, LOL on the path around your property!

Back to work for DH and school for DD. Chores and errands for me and the little one. I'm 19.5 weeks and weight gain is exactly 10 pounds. Not bad, tho I wish I would've done better.

kate, how could you ask for better than 10 lbs??? that sounds fantastic! what did you gain with your other kiddos? do you consider yourself more fit this time around? i know i was 6 lbs lighter starting this pregnancy so i am trying to gain a bit more than last pregnancy. not easy for me at the end though. you are doing great!!

Kate~10lbs sounds like it's right on target! If you gained 1lb per week here on out that is just 30lbs.. right in the "ideal" zone! I was up 6lbs total at 17 weeks so I think I'll be right about that when I go for my next appt. Just remember in the end we are working out and so even if we gain a bit more we will bounce back better than someone that isn't working out during pregnancy. (that is what I have observed w/ myself and others I know) I gained 40lbs the last 2 times and got right back to working out after and was able to lose the weight.

I didn't do the cardio and weights. I sat on the couch and crochetted.

Morris & Trish - Yeah, I guess you guys are right. I gained 50+ with DD1, and 26 with DD2. I am so much more fit now than I was with either of them so I guess I was expecting that I wouldn't gain so much this time around. But if I consider I'm basically halfway there and gained 10 pounds I'm probably doing pretty good. Okay, I feel bad for my origianl post now! I have major body issues and was basically on my way to an eating disorder a few years back. It gets hard to see the lumps and bulges in places that weren't there before. I see where I've gained "maternal fat stores" (love handles, lat area) and I do NOT like it. I keep thinking about RT too and I for sure will be the biggest one there! Which, I know, I'm pregnant, I'm not supposed to be a size 6, but its still hard ya know? Thanks for the encouragement! You both said just what I needed!

hugs to you kate! saying all that out loud is the hardest, and with pregnancy hormones to boot! i totally understand about body issues. it is so hard sometimes. i hope you feel healthy overall and can appreciate all your body can do, bulges and all;-) so much easier said than done, i know!! as for the road trip, it will be a fantastic opportunity, but i understand feling out of sorts being the biggest person around! that is how i feel at work everyday, regardless of if it is true or not.

Aw, thanks, Morris!
I did Classical Stretch tonight. There's a part where you're sitting with your feet out in front of you and she says to lean over til your belly hits your thighs. I didn't have to bend over very far at all! LOL!:D

Hi,
It seems like most of you are in this humid weather too. Phew! It takes a while to get used to. I just put 4-Day Split on ebay. I had talked about it before, but I just don't do it enough so I sucked it up and put it on. It's at a big 99 cents right now with 6 more days to go. I also put Cardio Fusion on too since I never do that one either. I am not swollen yet, but feel big. On Sunday, I took an hour long walk, yesterday I did ME and loved it (I need to do that one more) and walked around Hershey Park (I was dragging when it was time to leave)!

Kristan and Lisa-I am getting that nesting instinct too. We have two rooms ripped apart now. I am in one of them that is to become my DS's play room and our office. And, the new baby's room needs to be done. We didn't do anything to it since we moved in except remove the old brown carpet. I am contemplating getting the wood floors refinished in that room or just getting carpet. When we got the floors done downstairs in March, the smell was horrible. Lisa-tell me how the laminate flooring turns out. I may do that in the office room.
Kate and Morris-I am right there with you two feeling huge. I tried on a bra at Target, and when I saw my boobs in that horrid mirror, I laughed. They were huge and veiny (not my normal boobs)! I ended up getting a 38 D, and I usually wear at 34C:7 . 3 of us are pregnant at work right now, and we are quite sick of the fat joke already!
Trish-Welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know you better.
Hi Maggie! Hi Anne! Hi Lurkers!

If I forgot anyone, I did read in the What to Expect book that pregnant women are forgetful because there is a loss of brain cell production during pregnancy. So, I told my DH, and that's my excuse for everything I forget;-) .

-Jen
p.s. The US is tomorrow and so is my dr. appt. I will check back in tomorrow evening.

Kate~ I just wanted to offer hugs. I can relate because I have suffered w/ eating disorders in the past. I say in the past, but the thoughts are still there and I just try to ignore them and tell myself good ones to replace them. I used to never eat and workout hours a day.. then I discovered running and weights and I discovered that being healthy and fit and seeing my body accomplish things was amazing. I was tired of being "skinny" and weak from not eating. I also think having my dd really opened my eyes and I can say since then I have kept things in check. I just never want her to have the issues I have w/ body image and eating. I still have my issues like I won't eat certain things at all like butter, full fat dressings, or other "bad" foods. Now that I am having another girl I really really am dedicated to keeping healthy and never reverting to my old ways. I think it's easy to let thoughts slip into our heads about what we think we look like, but in reatity it's never what we think. You are pregnant and beautiful I am sure! If you are more fit now starting out this pregnancy than your other 2 then that is awesome! Just focus on each day. I tend to get passionate about this topic because for so long I thought so badly about my body, but it's just not true. What we see and tell ourseleves is usually nothing like what others see and what is the real reality. :)

I forget who just posted now about their u/s tomorrow, but good luck!!

Jen~ it was you w/ the u/s. good luck! I hear ya on the humidity.. it was so humid today and yesterday. It finally stormed here this evening and cooled things off a bit. I am in northern VA.

Kate - 10lbs is really good! I think as women and pg women, we need to embrace our bodies. Yeah, big talk coming from someone who constantly asks DH if my butt is getting as big as my belly, but I like many of you am trying to keep positive, healthy thoughts about body image. I'm sure you look awesome and you'll be kicking butt on the RT pg and all!

Morris - I'm sure it's even more difficult dealing with your parents' issues being hormonal and pg. Hang in there and hopefully things will somehow work out. I'm feeling huge right now. I've been working out at least 3x a week, but I think I'm able to do more now. The fatigue has subsided so that has been really good. I'll see how much I can get done this week with DH gone, but since my kids are older, it makes a difference. They're more like my helpers and great company!

Jen - Good luck at the u/s! Did you decide if you're going to find out or not?

Trish - I like C&W although I haven't pulled that one out in awhile. I kind of go through phases with my Cathe dvds. Right now I'm loving all the weight and strength workouts.

So DH left this a.m. for Denver and he'll be back on Saturday. I need to get him my things to buy for the baby while on the mainland. Does anyone here or is anyone planning to pump breastmilk after baby is born? I have been an Advent mom with my other two, but thinking of just spending the money and buying the Medela Pump N Style since I feel like it might save me time with the double pumping option. I figure my time will be spread thin with 3 kids. I didn't pump too often, but always made sure there was a supply in case I had to stay at work longer or whatever, but I just wanted to know if you ladies thought it was worth the money. I borrowed the Medela from a friend with dd, but returned it because I mostly stayed at home and didn't need it and didn't want to hold on to someone elses breastpump if I wasn't going to use it all that much. I have a feeling this time around I might need it though.

Lisa

lisa, i love my medela pump. so quick, which was huge for worktime breaks. i could get 608 ounces in 5minutes! i know that was part of what let me nurse so long. also, if you do occasionally pump, your kids may want to feed the baby. they are at good ages for that i think. hth

Lisa~ I love my pump n style. I bought it when I had my first son. I ended up exclusively pumping for him. I then used it with my next 2 to pump when I needed too. It is still going strong. Ihope it makes it through this last one. The double pumping is a big time saver! I also love that it looks like a purse so you can take it with you and it doesn't look like a pump. :)

Jen, What don't you like about 4DS and CF? I love both of them! The KB has been a cardio staple for me this pregnancy. Glad you're liking ME - I love that one too. LOL on the boobs! Best wishes for great appts tomorrow for you!

trish, Thanks so much for the words of encouragement - so glad you joined our check-in!

Lisa, Big thanks to you too. We should all post pg pics!
I used that pump with DD1 because she was having major feeding issues - the girl wouldn't latch on for about 2 months! So I pumped and DH fed her thru a syringe! It was awful but I'm glad I stuck it out. Once she got the hang of nursing she never wated to stop - LOL! I did not use it even once for #2 - she was an awesome nurser from the start. With this one I prob. will use it. The girls talk about feeding the baby and with as busy as we are I probably won't be able to be with the baby at every single feeding (working at DDs schools, etc).

Morris, Please tell me that was a typo - 608 ounces!!! Helly Dolly Parton! Did you mean 6-8 ounces?! :7

---------------

I have been wicked sick the last 24 hours. Puking/diarrhea. I have lived on simple carbs, some watermelon, and a strawberry popsicle. DH has it now and DD1 says she feels funny. Why is it I have to take care of everyone else while I am sick AND pregnant!?!?! Dh is just a snoozin' away in bed while I did it all for dinnertime for the girls and it will be the same for bedtime for them too! UGH! Oh well. He was helpful this AM to get DD1 to school before he got feeling ill, so I should just shut my complaining mouth and be thankful I got any help at all. One more complaint - both of our moms are 10 min. away, know that we're sick and NO ONE has offered to help! I understand that they wouldn't want to get near us but please drop off some food at the door and run!

Okay, here goes nothin':

SCARY PICTURES COMING!!!!

Okay, the rest of you need to post some pics now!
I broke the ice!

I was REALLY tired in the 2nd picture...bags under the eyes to prove it!!!:D Wasn't really intending on shring the pic when DH took it but oh well! :D

Well, it's a ....................................................BOY!
I had an instinct way before the US that it was a boy. I would have been happy either way, but what counts is that the baby is very healthy and all the pics look fine. So, my DS will have a little buddy to teach all his bad habits too. I gained 5# since last month, and everything is fine with me too. O.K., I am way bigger than you, Trish and you, Kate! I'll have to get my DH to take belly shots.

Kate-I am so sorry to hear about the stomach flu. That is not fun, especially when pregnant. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Kristan, Hi Morris, Hi Anne, Hi Maggie, Hi Lisa!
-Jen
P.S. Kate-I just didn't like the step portion of 4-Day Split, therefore I never did those two. I know that the weights are good, but I never found myself reaching for them. As for Cardio Fusion, I just didn't like it, and I have all of the other workouts that that is comprised of, so I never did that either.

Oh don't be silly you look great!

Just know that I usually make up for lost time at the end. LOL Here is 40 weeks with my DD
